Database Administrator
Database Administrator designs the databases and links them with programs, maintains and updates them online and takes backups. Database management is done by Webmaster himself. All information is data and IT systems deal with managing of information. The most popular of database is the Relational databases(RDBMS)used by major corporates and banks.
A lot of dot coms look for people with MCAs. A database administrator has to understand as many databases as possible and their respective operating systems. They are also expected to upgrade their databases as soon as new version is launched.
Webmaster
Webmaster has to make sure that all the systems are always up and running. He has to monitor the Web traffic, do load-balancing and so on, and keep the Website secure too.
You have to be proficient in Unix, Linux, Win NT and servers such as SQL Server. An engineering degree isn’t an absolute must. You need to be a graduate. No course can make one a Web master – you need a lot of practical knowledge, lots of hands-on experience, thorough knowledge of NT.
Web designer
Web designers use creative graphic designs to make the portal attractive and user friendly.
To work with HTML and Front Page doesn’t make one a Web Designer. A Fine Arts degree would introduce you to layout designing, colors, typography and fonts.
