    NICC's teaching methodology encompasses various learning processes - theory, practical application, real-time projects and evaluation. These processes engage the student on various levels - observation and experience, perception, understanding and summarization, ideation, projection and application. All of these demand different approaches in the learning experience, such as general theory lectures, group discussions and presentations, practical exercises and individual assignments, and projects. Thus, classes at NICC, are conducted in limited-number groups with individual attention and appropriate facilities.

    The college building accommodates an art studio, prototyping laboratory, four theory classrooms, auditorium, digital design laboratory, 3D rendering and editing laboratory, photo-studio, and library.

    Qualifications include: B.Sc Hons1; MBBS (AIIMS); FCCP; Fel.Applied Technology (Biophysics: Electronics in Physiology) and several Certifications in Digital Imaging (Accr:TSBEC,USA) & Photography (Accr:IACET,USA).He was also an NCERT Scholarship Invitee (Paper: Solar Energy). Dr. Rose was a Consultant Scientist, Govt. of India Projects and Member, Development Team, Committee on Science & Technology in Developing Countries. His many consultancies included being consultant technologist to the Vizag Steel Plant Laser Digitizing Annexe & several Industries. He has, for two decades, been a Specialist Consultant in the fields of Cross-Platform Integrated Technology & Digital Imaging. He has several inventions to his credit in the fields of Automation, Robotics and Small-Signal Processing. His extensive Industry experience and expertise in photography,imaging-related technology & product design led to a parallel career as a consultant in Imaging, Advertising & Retail Design. Clients include corporates such as Prestige Entertainment, SKC Group, and Tata Interactive. He is an acknowledged expert in cross-platform integrated Design disciplines and was External Examiner (New Media Design, Postgraduate) to Govt. of India's National Institute of Design (NID, Ahmedabad) in 2009, 2011 & 2012. He currently uses the 3D Program system, 'Lightwave' as part of his Design method and teaches this high-end platform at the postgraduate level. He is also a specialist photographer and published writer. His work includes the 6-part Photo Techniques Teaching Series titled ‘ The Art of Macro Photography’ published in 1997, by BP, Tata Donnelley Ltd. and a further 3-part tutorial series titled ‘Macro Photography’. NICC was selected by Canon India to be one of its prestigious national Pro Centres on the basis of Dr.Rose's connection with the College.

     
    • Aleksandra R. Rose:  Dean, NICC; Specialities taught: History of Art & Design, Styling & Art Direction


    Ms. Aleksandra Rose's Alma Mater is The College of Fine and Applied Arts (VSLIPU), Belgrade University. She has been a participating guest artist at the 'Q' Group of creative artists, and 'Terra' Art Colony in Serbia. As a practicing designer, her consultancies revolve around domains of Design for Advertising, Interactive Media, and Experiential Design. Some of her past highlight projects include the setup of visual merchandising systems at the flagship store of Champion USA, in Belgrade, Art Direction and coordination of Advertising Design solutions for the first shoppertainment events for Prestige Group, in Bangalore, and Design for Retail Experience project for SKC Group, and has developed digital content for several e-learning modules, of which one was commissioned by TATA Interactive . As co-founder and Dean NICC, her objectives are to focus on holistic and interdisciplinary approaches in Media and Design-related teaching curricula and practices. She teaches History of Art and Design, Styling and Art Direction applied to different creative disciplines. She is a recipient of the Kiran Achievement Award for her work in the fields of Art and Education, awarded by Women’s International Network.

     
    • Vipin Chandran Pathiyil:  HOD Communication Design


    His previous experience includes positions at various Design Studios and Film/Animation Production Houses such as; Creative Head at Transcend Int., Creative Designer at Raintree Media, Senior Interior Designer at Vijay Associates, 3D Modeller at Ittina Animation Studios. As a 2D Animator, Actor and Foley Artist, he worked on a short film titled 'Causality', written and directed by Manoj M. Narayanan (a.k.a MMN), created a two minute 2D animated sequence, acted and provided voice-overs. The movie was screened at the Cannes Film Festival, Dec 2006.He also worked as a 2D Animator at Three Angles, Bangalore, and held a position as a Copy Writer and Graphic Designer at Ad Firma LLC, Dubai. Accounts handled include Subway, US Telecomm, CARS, Mahmood Tea, Grano Coffee, Exit Cafe, China Valley Restaurant. His philanthropic activities include training students to use photoshop to create art and photo manipulation at Asha Centre, Bangalore.

     
    • Jeevan N. Pathare:  HOD Photography & Cinematography


    Over 6 years experience in Photography and writing. Visiting Faculty, Canon Photography workshops in Bangalore and Mysore. Faculty for short-term courses in Photography for working professionals. Copywriter and Photographer for the Dubai-based Media Agency Shuttle Advertising. Head, Web Solutions division for Shuttle Advertising.Freelance writer and photographer in Dubai, handling photoshoots for various clients across different verticals for 3 years: Yala Sports, Dubai, Sweet Nirvana-European restaurant, Hyderabad. Content and Project head for New Global Indian - an international print magazine. VP Business Solutions for an E-learning Firm. Over a career spanning almost 11 years, Mr.Pathare has combined his skills and knowledge of diverse fields - ranging from Sciences to Applied Arts to Business Management - to become the complete Contributing Professional. This background provides an invaluable platform for the teaching of Commercial Photography and Media, graduates of which which require a blend of exactly these skill-sets Technology, Art and Commerce to become top-level professionals in job-based career.

     
    • Mustafa S. Shyam Babu:  HOD Visual Arts


    Mr. Shyam Babu is an expert in the 3D Software, 'Maya' and in Film/Motion-Graphics Design & Post-Production. In parallel with his teaching, he handles a Shopping Club web portal and Web design for shopping club members all over Kerala and is working on an on-line travel magazine, India Captured. He has provided Branding and Web solutions for Wright International Air Transport Association (WIATA). He Directed and cinematographed a documentary on the photo tour, 'OBT' (Off the Beaten Track) and is developing DI and VFX for an upcoming Bollywood film, PASSION. He was Associate Director of a Music video called +3.Camera and Directed a regional language Television film: "Power of Nature and Superstitions", 2005. He was Production controller and VJ in a television program "Tourist and Travel" for a private television channel in 2002. He has been honoured with Awards: State level award (Kerala) for Painting in 1996; State level award (Kerala) for Painting in 1997; District level award for Painting and Drawing in 1997.

     
    • Smita Kulkarni:  Lecturer: Graphic Design, Digital Imaging and Photography


    Ms. Kulkarni is a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Science from Mumbai University (1999) and holds an International Postgraduate Diploma in Visual Communication (speciality: Photography and Illustration) from NICC. She has wide and muti-disciplinary professional experience: Photography: She has held Canon Photography workshops in Bangalore and Belgaum(2008)& is Faculty for short-term courses in Photography for working professionals(2008- till date);  She Participated in the advertising campaign for Bangalore's premium shopping mall - Prestige FORUM Mall. Retail: worked with NID on the case study on "Retail Design in Jewellery Outlets in Bangalore", and presented the findings at the "South Indian Jewellery Show 2008", a B2B Exhibition on a national level(Nov 2007 - Jan 2008). Advertising: Single-handedly conceived and managed the Advertising campaign for a stem cell seminar organized by "Stem Cell Research Forum of India" in association with an NGO (Jun - Aug 2007); Software: 8 Years in software development at Wipro GE Medical Systems, a SEI CMM level 5 company, where she worked in various roles - Team Leader, Quality Representative, Lead Program Integrator, Mentor, Six Sigma Black Belt; and won rewards and recognition for the same.


    • Daniel Fu:  Lecturer: Product, Packaging & Industrial Design


    Mr. Daniel Fu holds a Postgraduate-Level International Diploma in Product Design and is currently working on his Master RSC certification in Applied Technology. He is skilled in processes and methods related to product design: Mechanical, Electromechanical, Robotic & Interactive, and is an expert in Digital Imaging, with particular emphasis on 3D Pre-Visualisation and Visualization for Product Design. He is proficient in the high-end 3D package, Lightwave, as well as several other software programs applied to Product development (including the 'Alias' suite). He has executed an integrated project in Alternative-Energy resource optimization and has invented a state-of-the-art system for photographic studio lighting. Other innovations under development include new directions in alternative energy and special-purpose vehicle design.


    • Hemanth Kamath:  Lecturer: 3D & 3D Animation


    Mr. Hemanth Kamath is a postgraduate in 3D & 3D Animation with an International P.G. Diploma in the subject, and is currently working towards a P.G. Dip in Product Design, particularly since his foundation in 3D is a vital asset in Product & Packaging Design. His specific area of expertise is in the application of the complex 3D platform, 'Lightwave' to the fields of Product Design, Packaging Design, Retail Design and Animation. He researches and blends multiple platforms to create systems which maximize the potential of 3D implementation in areas ranging from Interactive Walkthroughs to Advertising & Animated Film. His extensive reading and study of subjects ranging from Psychology to Literature and Science to World Affairs gives him a broad perspective and understanding in teaching and training young people to enter the world of professional achievement.

ELIA has over 400 Member Institutions on six continents . ELIA's primary mission is to bring global parity to Design-related education. Affiliation with ELIA confers pan-European & Six-Continent (incl. U.K. & Australia) acceptance of NICC's qualifications by elite Art & Design Institutions all over the world. Also, it is important to note that it is this qualification with its associated Portfolio & Global-Parity Skillset which is the foundation on which NICC students, both UG and PG, have acquired respected careers with elite companies, institutions, industries and MNCs in India.

    The value of this association in terms of international recognition of the NICC qualification is illustrated by the winning of the Milan International Packaging Design Scholarship Competition offered by one of the most prestigious Design College in Europe, Istituto Europeo di Design (IED, Milan, Italy). The student who won the scholarship from NICC earned his NICC International Diploma in Visual Communication (as NICC's Communication Design Program was then called), specializing in Packaging Design.
