TN Board Exam 2021: Class 10 and 12 students will not appearing for quarterly or half-yearly exams this year, Tamil Nadu School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi said according to TOI. The minister further stated that the state government is planning to conduct a combined mock exam in December, before the board exams to be held in March next year. Chief and District Education Officers took the decision at a review meeting. He further added mentioned that details about the combined mock test will be released soon. However, the government is yet to release an official notification regarding the same.

According to TOI, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi stated that โ€œWe are exploring the possibility of having a combined mock exam, before the board examination, in December instead of the half-yearly and quarterly examinations.โ€ Talking about the conduct of TN 10th and TN 12th Board Exams 2022, Mahesh Poyyamozhi said that the board examination would be held in March as usual.

Meanwhile, the stateโ€™s School Education Department is prepping up to reopen schools for Classes 1 to 8. The schools for the primary and middle-class students are closed since March 2020 due to the pandemic outbreak. The minister said, โ€œAt the meeting, the safety measures that should be implemented on the campuses were discussed in detail. There will be surprise inspections by teams, once the schools reopen, to check whether all safety protocols are being followed."

Earlier, the government reopened schools for students of Classes 9 to 12 on September 1, 2021. Prior to the reopening of schools, on August 27, the School Education Department released a set of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for schools to follow to prevent COVID-19 spread.
