B.Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering - Batch of 2024

A review of my experience at Amrita School of Engineering, Bangalore campus.
Placements: I was from B.Tech in ECE, batch 2020–2024. In my batch, the average package was around 11.6 LPA, the highest package was around 23 LPA, and the lowest package was 3.6 LPA. About 90% of the eligible students got placed. Some of the major recruiters were Amazon, Google, Bosch, GE, TCS, Honeywell, etc. Most of roles offered were Software Engineer roles with various specialisations like AI, SDE, and DSA, etc. Around 20% of the eligible students got internship offers from companies like Schneider, Honeywell, and Bosch.
Infrastructure: Features available in my department were quite functional. We had Wi-Fi facility with an approximate speed of 2 MBPS. Various labs were also provided to facilitate hands-on experiential learning and testing. Although there was no air conditioning, the department had a continuous electricity supply there for 24/7. In the hostel, students were allotted four-sharing rooms, each with a personal cupboard for individual storage. Wi-Fi access was provided, and dedicated study rooms were available with Ethernet connectivity that offered speeds of up to 300 MBPS. However, the quality of food in the hostel and the canteen was not so good.
Faculty: Teachers were very helpful in academics. They were highly qualified, with most of them being Ph.D. scholars from NITs, IITs, and other prestigious universities in India. They were very knowledgeable, but their expertise was mostly limited to their respective subjects. But, when it came to exams, evaluation, or attendance, they were very strict and intolerant of all. Passing the semester exams was quite hard. On average, around 10 to 20 students out of 183 failed in each subject.
Other: I was very interested in electronics and circuits. That was why I ended up taking Electronics and Communication Engineering in this college, and it was one of the best choices I had at that time. I thought subjects in this course should have been more lenient towards students and should have encouraged them to work on more hands-on projects. There were so many clubs in this college. There were around 30 technical and non-technical clubs collectively. There was another club dedicated to sports. Students were awarded various awards for the activities they participated in within these clubs.

Strong placements and disciplined environment, but strict rules and average hostel facilities.
Placements: Almost 95% of students got placed in our college. The highest package is 25 LPA. The lowest package is 4 LPA. The average package is 7 LPA. Top recruiters are Intel, Cisco, Bosch, Wipro, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, and Google. The university emphasizes internships as part of its curriculum. Students have secured internships at leading companies such as Microsoft, Google, Intel, and Nokia. These internships typically last six months to a year and often lead to direct placements within the respective companies. Top roles offered are software development, systems engineer, network engineer, embedded systems engineer, data analyst, and consultant.
Infrastructure: In college, we have good Wi-Fi, smart classrooms, well-equipped labs, and a large library with updated books every month. Our campus features a big cricket ground, a badminton court, and a football field. We also have an excellent sports coach. In the hostel, there are two reading halls with good Wi-Fi, a gym, and a basketball court, all surrounded by plenty of trees. We have separate hygienic washrooms and a clinic that operates 24/7. The canteen offers delicious food, and there is a general store where everything you might need is available.
Faculty: Many of the teachers come from IITs and NITs. They are very helpful and provide support in every aspect of our education. Most of them have completed their PhDs and possess extensive knowledge. The quality of teaching is excellent, and the course curriculum is relevant, ensuring that we are industry-ready. The semester exams are structured in a way that allows everyone to achieve average marks, with a passing percentage set at 40%.
Other: I chose ECE for its blend of hardware and software, which offers diverse career opportunities in IoT and machine learning (ML). The best aspects of the program are the strong fundamentals in communication, VLSI, and embedded systems, along with good lab facilities. However, there is room for improvement, including more industry exposure, updated coursework, and better hands-on project opportunities. The campus has a disciplined environment with decent fests and extracurricular activities, but strict rules can limit flexibility. The student body is diverse yet studious, and while connectivity is good, the surrounding area is average. Scholarships are available, but increased funding for research and innovation would further enhance student opportunities.

Amrita college is an average college.
Placements: The placement was average this year since the market had a recession so the average salary went down. The CSE branch did well, but the other batch lacked. The average package was 9.47 lacs for my branch. 70% of people have been placed till now. Rest are still sitting in the college placement.
Infrastructure: I did not stay in a hostel but I heard that it wasn't that good. It may vary from person to person. Regarding the course, it was very basic and the infrastructure of the college is just above average. The labs were a bit outdated but they have been upgraded now.
Faculty: The faculty is okay but when it comes to supporting a student, they really lack in that area. The ECE depth was really rude sometimes. There are some really good teachers but the number is very limited. Your class advisory decides everything as to how things are going to go. The difficulty of the exams ranges from moderate to hard.

Good infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Our course is good, and there is a high scope of placements in the future. The highest salary package offered is 20 LPA, and the lowest salary package offered is 6 LPA. Our seniors got high placement opportunities in top companies, such as Flipkart and Amazon. Most students got selected at SDI.
Infrastructure: Our college has good infrastructure including a library, good classrooms, and labs. The Wi-Fi connection is also in good condition. Our hostel rooms are good enough, but the food is horrible. However, the canteen food is good as compared to hostel food. Many games and sports are conducted in our college.
Faculty: Faculty members teach students in a good way and help to solve problems. They guide students in a good way to achieve good results and success. Our course curriculum is updated every year. It is good and subjects are useful. Pass and fail percentages depend on students and almost 90% is pass percentage.
Other: I have shared most of the information above. As extracurricular activity is concerned, there are many clubs and fests that we enjoy a lot. Being involved in clubs relieves our stress and we enjoy it.

A short review of Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham- Bengaluru.
Placements: This time the percentage of students placed is very low; due to the recession, it was around 60%. The highest package was 34 lacs, the average was 12 lacs, and the least goes till 3 lacs per annum. The top recruiters for our course are Microsoft and Amazon. Around 30% of students got internships in GD Healthcare and many more companies.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of our college is medium; it isn't so high-five college; it has all the basic amenities; we have Wi-Fi; it works well in the labs and classrooms as well as in the hostel. Coming to the library, most of the books suggested by our lecturers are available, and even if they are not available, if we ask the librarian, they will provide us with e-book access. Our classroom has blackboards, white screens, and a projector common to all the classrooms. Now they have renovated half of the classroom, providing charging facilities available for each individual and also an Ethernet facility. All the computer labs have systems with internet and AC. And all other labs also satisfy the requirements and needs of the course. Coming to the hostel, the rooms are four people sharing. We must clean our own rooms. We have common washrooms, and the hot water is available twice a day, in the morning and in the evening. The laundry is taken weekly once, and we get the clothes back in 3 to 4 days. The food is average, and we are provided only with vegetarian items and eggs during lunch for two days a week. In breakfast, we have 2 varieties per day, and milk is available daily. For lunch we have some price, plan price sambar, some curry, and curd. For dinner we are given chapathis 5 days a week; we also will have plan price rasam, curry, and curd or buttermilk. We have grounds for sports facilities and a basketball court. For badminton, we have a separate hall, and a gym is also available separately in the hostel. It is separate for both boys and girls. We can get the canteen food until 8pm in the night, but only the cash payment option is available.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members we got have even completed their PhDs and are very knowledgeable and helpful. Each lecturer has their own unique way of teaching, and most of them involve students, making us perform some activity for active participation. The course curriculum is updated yearly, according to the industry requirement. Regular class committee meetings will be held to make the teaching effective and if some changes are there to make them. Our particular course makes us industry-ready because we have continuous assessment evaluation, and also for the end-of-semester evaluation, instead of having exams, we are supposed to make real-time projects in accordance with our syllabus. We are given marks based on our progress on the subject and the results we have obtained. Coming to the exams, we only have midterm exams for our course; they are at medium level, depending on the subject; some are easy and some are very tough. The pass percentage is high. Around 90 percent of students pass the exams. The rest of our marks come from the regular quizzes and lab evaluations conducted on a daily basis. Basically, for total GPA calculations, internals are considered for 70% and externals (projects) for 30%.
Other: I chose this course because when I was joining the college, this course had demand in the industry. As I told you, we do not have end-of-semester examinations; instead, we are evaluated with projects, and I think this is the best thing about my course. From one year we are having more events compared to before, and last year we had a huge fest named Daasthan; it was a multinational fest, conducted for the first time on our campus for 3 days. The extracurricular activities are also good because we have many clubs there, and according to our interests, we can choose which clubs we want to participate in. Also, we have an entrance exam, which is basically for scholarships and getting a seat. If we get a good rank in that exam, we can have a low fee structure, but for that scholarship to be availed further, we need to maintain a certain CGPA .

Absolutely dissatisfied because of faculty and the average placements in 2025.
Placements: It's an average college when it comes to placements. Many companies visit our campus, but it all depends on our luck and skills. About internships, in a class of 70 students, 10 students are getting internships.
Infrastructure: Bad experience in the hostel. The food is the worst, and the wardens, mainly in the girls' hostel, are the worst. Overall review about the hostel is that we have a gym, a badminton court, and that's it. Not more than that. The rooms look very old as they were built 10–15 years ago. Not so good.
Faculty: Okay, here comes faculty. They show a lot of attitude because they hold PhDs, but when it comes to teaching, it's zero, just like in other colleges. They start reading from the PPTs we have. As for the exams, I would say we get very tough papers compared to other colleges.
Other: Only one fest is Daastan.
