Placements: The placement scenario at IITM is pretty good. 90+% students get placed while the rest opt for higher studies. Average salary is in the range of 10-15lpa in core mechanical fields and 8-16lpa in non core fields. Top recruiters are P&G, ITC, Tata motors, Jaguar, Airbus 70-80% of the students get internships through the internship drive on campus in both core and non core companies like P&G, ITC, ABinBev, Wipro etc.

Infrastructure: IIT Madras has a top notch infrastructure for mechanical engineering. We have extensive facilities for research in all fields of mechanical engineering. The classrooms are well-equipped with projectors, speakers and wacom tablets so professors can make the class more interactive. Though the hostels are quite old, the hostel life is pretty good with single rooms allotted from second year and up.
