Week 1

Introduction to mobile robots and mobile manipulators.

Principle of locomotion and types of locomotion.

Week 2:

Kinematics of wheeled mobile robot, degree of freedom and maneuverability, generalized wheel model, different wheel configurations, holonomic and non-holonomic robots.

Week 3:

Dynamics of mobile robot: Lagrange-Euler and Newton-Euler methods. Computer based dynamic (numerical) simulation of different wheeled mobile robots.

Week 4:

Sensors for mobile robot navigation: magnetic and optical position sensor, gyroscope, accelerometer, magnetic compass, inclinometer, tactile and proximity sensors, ultrasound rangefinder, laser scanner, infrared rangefinder, visual and motion sensing systems.

Week 5:

Robot navigation: Localization, Error propagation model, Probabilistic map based loclaisation, Autonomous map building, Simultaneous localization and mapping (SLAM).

Week 6:

Motion and path planning: collision free path planning and sensor-based obstacle avoidance.

Week 7:

Motion control of mobile robots: Motion controlling methods, kinematic control, dynamic control and cascaded control.

Week 8:

Introduction to modern mobile robots: Swarm robots, cooperative and collaborative robots, mobile manipulators, autonomous mobile robots.

Q:   How can I get admission in IIT Palakkad?
A: 

To get admission in IIT Palakkad candidates must follow the admission process as per the institution's admission guidelines. IIT Palakkad admission is completely entrance-based for all the courses offered by the institute. IIT Dharwad offers BTech (integrated course) at the undergraduate level. MTech/ MSc at postgrauate level and PhD / MS at doctoral level. Candidates must follow the admission procedure of IIT Palakkad: 

Step 1: IIT Palakkad Application Process

IIT Palakkad conducts the application process for admission to its offered courses. However, for a few course candidates are required to complete the entrance exam's registration/application process.

  • BTech and BS aspirants must fill out the application form for JEE (Main) via the official website of the National Testing Agency (NTA) (nta.ac.in). Read more
  • MTech candidates must register for GATE via the official website of GATE Online Application Processing System (GOAPS) (appsgate.iitd.ac.in). Read more
  • MSc candidates must register for the Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM). Admission to each of the MSc courses will be offered to those who qualified in the exams and appear for the JAM counselling process.
  • For PhD and MSstudents are required to apply via the official website of IIT Palakkad. Candidates must register and fill out the application form online.

Step 2: IIT Palakkad Selection Process

Candidates are shortlisted based on their qualifications. Next candidates are required to go through the selection process which requires candidates to go through the course-based entrance exam followed by other selection rounds (if applicable). After the selection rounds are completed, they are required to go through the course-wise counselling process for final seat allocation. For PhD and MS, IIT Palakkad conducts its own written test and personal interview for selection.

Step 3: IIT Palakkad seat allocation

Seat allocation for BTech is conducted by the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling plays a crucial role in the final selection process, as it facilitates the allocation of seats in the BTech programme at IIT Palakkad. For M.Tech candidates must participate in the GATE counselling for seat allocation. And for MSc JAM counselling is accepted.

Step 4: IIT Palakkad Final Admission

Once the seats are allocated, applicants who are selected can submit the admission charges and confirm their admission to the relevant course at IIT Bombay. Candidates might have to visit the institute's admission office to verify the documents.
