BTech and BS courses completely based on JoSAA following an appearance by a candidate for JEE Main and JEE Advanced examination, however for other courses MSc and M.Tech based on GATE, IIT JAM through COAP and CCMN counselling and the seats under PhD course on appearance basis on admission test organized by institute itself. After the test is conducted, IIT Patna publishes a merit list containing the names of students selected for PhD.

Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2025.
IIT Patna accepts CUET score for the BSc programme. To get admission to the BSc programme at IIT Patna the aspiring candidates need to have a minimum of 60% in class 12. They also need National/State Level Entrance (i.e., JEE (Advanced/Main), NEET, CUET, BITSAT, KVPY/NTSE/INSPIRE scholarship holders, State Entrance Examinations).
For BTech and BS, the admission process is completely conducted by JoSAA after students appear for their JEE Main and JEE Advanced exam. For other courses, such as MSc and MTech, admission is subject to GATE and IIT JAM followed by COAP and CCMN Counselling. For PhD, students are required to appear for the admission test conducted by the institute for seat allocation. IIT Patna accepts multiple state/national entrance exams other than JEE for admission to BSc courses. NEET, CUET, BITSAT, etc., are other exams accepted by the institute. The list of documents to be submitted at the time of GATE application for M.Tech are given below:
- Image of candidate's signature
- Scanned copy of Category certificate (for SC/ST) in pdf format
- Scanned copy of PwD Certificate (if applicable) in pdf format
- Passport-size photograph with white background (JPEG/ JPG format only)
- Scanned copy of Certificate of Dyslexia (if applicable) in pdf format

The NEET 2025 admit card was released by the National Testing Agency (NTA) on April 30, 2025, four days before the exam date. NEET 2025 will be held on May 4, 2025.
Prior to the release of the NEET admit card, NTA released the advance intimation of exam city slip on April 23, 2025, a week before releasing the NEET 2025 admit card. The document mentions the city of the NEET exam centre allotted to candidates. Generally, NTA does not release the NEET admit card release date in advance. Candidates will have to log in to the NEET website with the registration credentials to download the admit card of NEET 2025.

NTA will release the CUET admit card 2025 online. Candidates will be able to download their admit cards online at cuetug.ntaonline.in. The admit card will be available for download in PDF document and is a mandatory document to be carried to the exam centre. Prior to the release of the CUET UG admit card, NTA will release the advance intimation of exam city slip. It is not the admit card, but will inform candidates about the city. After downloading the CUET UG 2025 admit card, candidates will have to check all the details carefully and ensure that there is no mistake. In case of any error, they will have to contact NTA to get the necessary corrections done.
BITSAT 2025 application form dates have been announced. The authorities released the BITSAT 2025 application form link at the official website - bitsadmission.com for Session 2. Candidates had to fill out and submit the application form of BITSAT 2025 before the final date i.e., June 10, 2025. The authorities did not accept applications after the last date. While filling out the BITSAT application form, the candidates had to provide their personal, academic and contact details.

JoSAA 2025 counselling choice filling last date is June 12. Note that, once the JoSAA choice filling window closes candidates will not be allowed to edit the choice list. This means candidates will not be able to change the order of the selected choices or add any more course in or delete any course from the choice list after the deadline for choice filling.

Candidates preparing for IITs are only required to appear for the JEE Advanced entrance exam after qualifying JEE Main. Students who who secure above the 98th percentile in JEE Main 2024 Session 2 should start preparing for JEE Advanced 2025 immediately. Those who score between 95th and 98th percentile should focus on improving their JEE Main score by taking multiple mock tests and practicing previous year's question papers. By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. If they can achieve full marks in their practice sessions, they can start preparing for JEE Advanced. However, if they cannot score full marks, it is recommended that they appear for multiple mock test series for more practice.
