Yes, NID Ahmedabad does offer BDes at undergrad level that lasts for four years. The BDes prgramme is spread across eight semesters which is offered under multiple specialisations Animation Film Design, Graphic Design, Product Design, Furniture and Interior Design, etc. Admission to NID Ahmedabad is based on the DAT exam conducted by the National Institute of Design.

Admission to all programs at NID Ahmedabad, and across all NID campuses, is solely based on a rigorous entrance exam process involving the National Institute of Design Aptitude Test (NID DAT). The NID DAT is a two-stage exam comprising:

The BDes programme is offered in 8 specialisations and MDes programme is offered in 7 specialisations. - Eligibility: A pass in Bachelor's degree of a minimum of four-year duration in any stream or a full-time Diploma of four-year duration in Design, Fine Arts, Applied Arts and Architecture or three-year Bachelor's degree is required to apply for MDes course. Additionally, candidates must be born on or after July 1, 1992 (July 1, 1989 for SC/ ST).
The four-year Bachelor of Design (BDes) programme is offered in four specialisations, I.e., Communication Design, Foundation Programme, Industrial Design and Textile, Apparel, Lifestyle & Accessory Design. Communication Design has four disciplines: Film And Video Communication, Exhibition Design, Animation Film Design and Graphic Design.
NID Ahmedabad offers BDes courses to students in 8 specialisations. Indian nationals who belong to the General and General EWS categories need to be born on or after 1 July 2003 to apply for NID that 2024. In the case of candidates belonging to the OBC-NCL, SC, and ST categories, candidates born on or after 1 July 2000 may apply. Meanwhile, PwD candidates who are born on or after 1 July 1998 may apply for admission. The candidate needs to ensure that meets the age criteria before filling out the application form. It is because every detail entered by the candidate will be cross checked at the time of counselling, during the document verification process. Any candidate found to be faking their eligibility stands to be disqualified.
While filling out the NID application form, candidates have to enter their personal, academic, and personal information. They are also required to upload a photograph and signature, and caste Certificate if applicable. In case of candidates seeking admission under reserved categories, they also need to upload a category Certificate. PwD category candidates will also have to upload the relevant Certificate.
The category and PwD certificates should be in PDF format and max 2 MB.
Meanwhile, the photograph and signature should in JPG/JPEG format and within 75-100 KB.
NID application form 2025 opened on September 3, 2024. The application form is open online at the NID admission portal -admissions.nid.edu. Candidates who meet the program-specific eligibility criteria may apply before the last date.
The NID application form is for admission to the B. Des and M.Des courses offered by participating colleges.
The last date to apply for NID DAT 2025 is December 6, 2024 (extended from December 3). The candidate can also edit the submitted application from December 4-9, 2024.
The NID DAT 2025 (Prelims) exam will be conducted on January 5, 2025.
A pass in Class 12 in any stream is required to apply for the BDes course. Only Indian citizens born on or after 1 July 2003 are eligible for admission under the General Category or the General EWS Category. Applicants born on or after 1 July 2000 in the Reserved Category (Other Backward Classes-Non-Creamy Layers (OBCNCL), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) may apply.For Indian Nationals in PwD Reserved Category: Only those candidates born on or after 1 July 1998 are eligible to apply for admission.
- Educational Qualification: Candidates may apply for the academic year 2023-24 who have passed or will appear for the higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examinations in the academic year 2022–23 in any stream (Science, Arts, Commerce, Humanities etc.) from a recognised educational board like CBSE, IB, ICSE, or equivalent.

Taking into consideration, the last-round cutoff, getting a 70 rank is not sufficient to allow you to take admission at the institutes affiliated to NID Ahmedabad. Considering the NID Ahmedabad cutoff 2024, all the specialisations has the common rank of 43 for General AI category candidates. Similarly, for the OBC AI category, the common cutoff stood at 45.
To secure admission to question Bangalore MDes, candidates need to appear for Design Aptitude Test (DAT). NID DAT is a national-level entrance exam conducted by the National Institute of Design.
The NID DAT is conducted in two stages, DAT Prelims and DAT Mains, propective candidates need qualify DAT Prelims to appear for DAT Mains. The final admission offers are made on the basis of candidate's performance in both stages.

Work experience is not necessary for most IITs and NIDs for M.Des in UI/UX or Communication Design.
A valid score in CEED, a suitable undergraduate degree, and a portfolio are enough.
Experience of six months merely waives CEED requirement, not eligibility, at IIT Hyderabad.
