A college that has a great amount of talent and creativity .
Placements: The percentage of students placed is between 60 and 70 percent. The highest package goes up to INR 600000 per year, and the lowest is around INR 200000 per year. The top recruiting companies are local business houses in Chennai itself. 80 percent of students got internships. The top roles offered in the course are associate designer, assistant designer, and fashion stylist.
Infrastructure: The campus as such is great. The design itself is super cool, and the facilities provided are great, like air conditioning in all labs. The Wi-Fi is decently good, and the library is packed with great books. The hostel is one of its best parts. It is amazing, super clean, and the food provided is not up to the mark, but it is still manageable, and it is really safe too; there is a nurse available 24/7. We also have a basketball court, a football field, a gym, and an indoor badminton court.
Faculty: The teachers are very well qualified and have great methods of teaching. I personally feel that some changes could be made to the curriculum, but the way of teaching definitely shapes the students in the right manner. Nift does not have examinations, but it has juries, which involves a lot of work to be done. The pass percentage is 50 percent.
Other: I chose this course because of my great interest in fashion. The best thing about this course is that it has amazing exposure. The things that could be better are the amount of workload on the students so that they can do better work. We have amazing festivals like Spectrum and many other celebrations throughout the year.

The pros and cons of NIFT Chennai.
Placements: Placement is fairly good. Almost 90% in accessory design. It depends on the student's caliber and portfolio rather than grades. Some of the courses struggle in placements but a good portfolio really helps. Companies are not very high paying initially. Maximum average packages are around 4.5 to 5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The building's structure is really beautiful, campus is small and cosy. The new girls' hostel is nice. The old hostel within the campus is pretty bad. Labs are nicely equipped. Hostel food is nutritional but tasteless. North Indians might not like the food. Nonveg is scarce. Washrooms are not very nicely maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are biased, there is a north India, south India stigma and partiality. Teachers are moody and judgemental. Innovations and ideas are not encouraged in front of aesthetics. It can be disappointing at times bit the college experience is great.
Other: Campus and students are really great and you wouldn't ever feel out of place. The vibe and environment is super which makes up for judgemental faculty members.

Great infrastructure and facilities, okay faculty members, placements are also okay.
Placements: Students apply for placements towards the end of the final semester. They can register for placements in as many nift campuses as they want and the companies will vary with each campus. Your portfolio will decide what kind of company you get. One must be alert in placements or they could end up in what is basically a salesperson job. The average placement packages ranges from 3-4 Lacs pa. With regards to internship it is advisable to look for your own company to intern at according to the kind of experience you are looking for. However, if you are not able to find your own company to intern at the college will provide you with one. Some internships come with no stipend and the ones who are lucky enough to get one will get around 4000-10000 per month.
Infrastructure: The national institute of fashion technology in Chennai is equipped with great infrastructure. There is campus Wi-Fi available throughout, a big auditorium, around two food stalls in addition to the campus canteen. There is also an in campus stationery store and printing shop which is really convenient for assignments. There is a volleyball court and a tennis court. The classrooms are spacious although unbearable in the summer months as they do not have AC. The pattern making, GC and computer labs however are all equipped with AC. There is also a resource center with amazing books that one should make the best of. During exam time there are sometimes issues with getting extra lab hours as students of all semesters will be needing the lab. During my time I stayed in the old hostel which was in campus. Although there were the usual bathroom issues, the rooms were good enough ( 3 sharing). I'd recommend living in the hostel as you will have a lot of group projects and you would face difficulty if you choose to live outside. There is a new large hostel now outside campus for girls and the old hostel has been given to the boys. There is AC in the new hostels and shuttle services to take the students to and fro the campus.
Faculty: With regards to the faculty in the campus I am sad to say that I have a few positive things to say. Like all colleges there are great faculty members and really sad ones. I learnt a lot from all my faculty members in the first year but when I reached my parent department there were only three to four faculty members who I found very knowledgeable in the subject matter. There are great guest lecturers who come to visit though. Throughout our course we were taken for industry visits and craft and handloom fairs which really widened my knowledge. All in all I would say I learnt a lot in class however there was so many assignments that's there was no time for self study.
Other: There are events every now and then in the campus which students organize and participate. There is also nift spectrum and converge annually.

I was quite satisfied with my college environment facilities, faculty members were nice.
Placements: Placements of our senior batch as well as ours were held within college campus. There were companies from North India to South India, as well as Renowned Designer like Sabyasachi company too came. Salary offered were minimum Rs 20000/mth to maximum Rs 25000/mth. In my batch hardly 35% of our batch mates got placed. All students had to do Internship of 2 months compulsory. So almost every students did their internship in their favourable companies. In my batch of 30 students about 7-10 students were offered stipend during internship.
Infrastructure: Classrooms were good spacious for practical works as well as for lecture classes. Library with Wi-Fi, A/C was big for study, research work. Wi-Fi was available from morning 11:00 am till 9:00 pm night. Medical Facilities were not available but during 4 years of course, each year we used to get Medical Insurance ID cards through college facility which we can use for check ups and treatments. Sports "Converge" used to be held during winter vacations. Canteen facilities were good enough to attract students attention like interior was painted with light colours, proper lighting and fan was given, juice corner was provided, variety foods, snacks items, etc. Was included. 3 days College Fest was conducted, like we used to have "Spectrum" every year. Girl Hostel without (A/C, Washing Machine, Wi-Fi) used to be inside the college but behind the campus with curfew time 9:00 pm. Girls hostel rooms were spacious for 3 girls/room. As a whole College infrastructure was huge & unique, nice & beautiful as well as clean.
Faculty: Our faculty members were knowledgeable, qualified, helpful, as well as full of surprises regarding types of assignment were given by them and they are always ready to share extra knowledge. Teaching quality was excellent, fun and entertaining some time. There were subjects which made our studies full of excitements and made us feel to learn a bit more about the topics brought up to us in each classes. Teaching methods were many like taking us to industrial visits, fashion shows, exhibitions, photography sessions, making short movies on our selected topic, styling people and ourselves according to the theme, taking part in helping modals back stage during fashion shows, Choreographing ramp walks with faculty members and modals, etc. And yes, doing these activities was fun as well as useful. The Student to Faculty ration in my batch was 30:9.
Other: Fashion Shows were held in and out of College Campus. College Fest " Spectrum" for 3 days. Campus Crowd was average. Campus Surroundings was normal, nothing much. Extracurricular Activities are many. Scholarship was there and chances to study abroad for 6 months.

Best learning with best environment.
Placements: Placements and internship programs which are provided by the college were so amazing. I had learned a lot of things during the internship programme where I had applied theory skills in a practical way. The highest package which is offered in my batch is 12.2 Lacs. Even I also got teh placement of 5.2 Lacs in Bangalore.
Infrastructure: NIFT is already a brand and their is no question on the quality of infrastructure, classroom, workplaces, library, medical facilities. I was the hostler their throughout the course means 4 years I spend there and I never felt like to stay out of the campus because the rooms, the food they provide is worth it.
Faculty: Because of this course I can apply anywhere in fashion industry. There is no restriction as in the other courses having. Faculty members are so strict here not that much of friendly but they are so motivating, only because of their strictness today I get the success in my line and much more to go.
Other: This college is situated in Chennai so not that much of festival had celebrated here but yes fest and other fashion events were held.
