The mechanical engineering program at NIT Jalandhar provides a strong academic foundation.
Placements: Around 75%-80% of students from the mechanical engineering batch got placed. The highest package offered is approximately 18 LPA (mostly for software roles), while the lowest stood at around 3.5 LPA. The average package hovered between 6 LPA and 7 LPA. Core mechanical companies like Tata Motors, L&T, Thermax, Maruti Suzuki, JSW, and ISRO visited the campus. Some students also received offers from IT and consultancy firms such as Infosys, Wipro, and Capgemini. Approximately 60%-70% of students secured internships during their pre-final year, with companies like NTPC, BHEL, DRDO, and private sector firms providing opportunities.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the mechanical engineering department is quite robust, with well-equipped labs such as CAD/CAM, thermal engineering, fluid mechanics, and strength of materials. High-speed Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus, and classrooms are equipped with projectors and smart boards. The library is extensive and updated regularly with relevant books and journals. Hostel facilities are good, with 24/7 water and electricity supply. The quality of food in the mess has improved over time and provides a balanced vegetarian menu. There is also a canteen available for snacks and fast food.
Faculty: The faculty in the mechanical engineering department is knowledgeable and experienced, with many professors holding PhDs from reputed institutes like IITs and NITs. They are approachable and supportive, especially during project work or internships. A few faculty members actively engage in research and publish papers regularly, which adds academic value to the department.

Good for career but a little bit disappointing campus life. It is small space close to other areas.
Placements: There are 85 students eligible for placements and out of which 75 get placed. The highest package offered is 18 LPA, and the lowest is 8 LPA. Top recruiter is Trident. Top roles are in management and sales. 88.8% of students have gone for placements. Placement statistics are good in college.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure of college is good. There are two libraries, one is traditional and other is digital. Students can borrow books from the library. There is good service of Wi-Fi on campus. Medical facilities are also good as there is one dispensary open from 9:00 AM to 7:00 PM daily. There are two ambulances on campus for emergencies. Mess facilities are also good. Food for every region is provided as per the weekly schedule. Hostel rooms are good for every year but in case the first year goes for BH1, BH2 because good facilities are provided there. There is a gym at the college.
Faculty: Teachers are well-qualified. Curriculum in some branches are relevant to today's industry. College exams are tough enough if someone has not attended lectures properly. Question papers are based on class learning. You have to attend proper lectures and take notes from your teacher.
Other: So my batch is 24-28 B.Tech mechanical engineering. My father is an automobile mechanic so I had having typical interest in this field. It is also considered an evergreen branch of engineering so I chose this. Some of the subjects are now irrelevant to our course college is removing them one by one. Events are good in college they happen only once in year the large event utkansh for three days. Campus crowd is also good. There is no ragging system. Students enjoy the company of each other. Scholarship section is also there which is very helpful.

Less placement but good college life.
Placements: The placement scenario for the 2024 batch has been quite average. Approximately 33% of the students have secured placements. This average placement rate underscores the programme and it need to be improved in upcoming future. The highest package offered to a student from this batch was impressive 18 Lacs per annum. This reflects that the highest package is good. On the there hand the lowest package is 7 Lacs per annum which is also quite satisfying, mostly the students were placed in IT sector and very less core companies came er.
Infrastructure: The college features state-of-the-art lecture halls equipped with multimedia projectors, audio- visual aids, and comfortable seating chair, our college also had advanced laboratories and have all the machines, but many machines were old and not in working conditions. So the need of new machines is required in our institute overall the hostels and campus is quite good.
Faculty: Exams are known for their rigour, testing not only student's knowledge but also very hard to pass here. The exams are easy, but the checking of answers sheet is relatively very hard to pass the examination, so the professors here use the concept of relatively marking criteria and grading, and moderation of grades take place here in order to pass the students otherwise the pass percentage is less than 70%. The professors are knoweldgeful and helpful when reach to them. But many professors are strict here so be careful.

The college has provided good placements in 2025 and has a good infrastructure.
Placements: In 2025, you can check the details online to see if they have been updated. The ICE branch achieved 100% placement, with the highest package coming from Microsoft at 52 LPA and an average placement of 10 LPA - 10.67 LPA, with companies like Microsoft, Trident, and Flipkart hiring. The roles offered involve controlling instruments within any company.
Infrastructure: There are well-organized labs and classrooms in a separate department that comprises the ECE branch. There are 2 libraries: a new library, which is fully AC and used for study and contains PCs, and an old library that has thousands of books and a study area. Wi-Fi facility is provided all around the campus. There is a good supply of internet in the library to ensure no pause in study.
Faculty: Teachers are talented and knowledgeable distributors, and everyone loves to attend their classes. Teachers are qualified up to the top level, and some teachers are researchers in specific industries. Although some teachers have average teaching quality, but rest are superb. This is sufficient to make students industry-ready. The pass percentage is 40%, and semester exams are moderate to a high level, but it may be possible that it could be easy if mid-semester were so tough.

If you couldn't go to an IIT, come to NITJ.
Placements: I am a 2024 batch pass out from B.Teach Civil. Almost 50-60% of students were placed in my batch in my course. The highest package offered was around 14 LPA by Amazon, but the median package was 6-6.5 LPA only. Companies like Amazon, Delivery, and Flipkart offered non-core placements. For core placements, there was Technip, Aarti Industries, and PSU like BPCL and Mecon.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is great. Facilities like libraries, reading rooms, labs, gyms, student activity centers, and canteens. There are specified timings for the usage of indoor facilities like reading rooms and libraries. Centralized AC is nearly at all indoors except hostels.
Faculty: Teachers are well-equipped with knowledge, with almost each of them having a doctorate in their subjects. Industrial training lectures are held timely. A minimum E grade (4 GPA) is required to pass a subject. As per the current scenario. Exams are held twice: mid-sem (30% weightage) and end-sem (50% weightage). The remaining 20% is assignments and tutorials.

The campus is very beautiful, and the environment is also very great.
Placements: Placement is average. The highest placement is 16 LPA by Trident, and the lowest placement is 5 LPA by Vedant. They are some good companies: Trident, Reliance, and Vardhaman core companies. You also have opportunities in the IT sector. Placement mainly depends on you; if you have good academics, then your opportunities increase. The average placement percentage for students is 70 to 80%.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is all good, with classrooms and good buildings for the department. However, there is average performance in sports infrastructure. There are also good canteens and a good environment on the campus. The whole campus is green, and really, it’s a beautiful campus.
Faculty: Difficulties are average, and there are some issues in communication with faculty members for South Indians due to language barriers and other factors. But after all, the education is good, and their methods of teaching students are also good. Everyone is focused and communicates well. Exams do not have a good pattern, and it is also difficult to manage the pattern of the examination.
Other: Everything is good, and if you are selected in this college, then you have opportunities to become a good engineer and develop good skills and growth in your career.
