I had two valuable years at NIT Delhi.
Placements: NIT Delhi has a great placement record each year. The average salary offered is one of the highest among all NITs. The highest package offered in 2024 was 62 LPA, and the lowest package was 16 LPA. The average package was 17 LPA. Companies like Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft, and Deloitte visited the college for placements.
Infrastructure: At NIT Delhi, construction is undergoing. It has shifted to a permanent campus, and it is a well-furnished campus. All LTs ( lecture theatres) are air-conditioned. Labs are well-equipped and have all the required equipment. Currently, there is only one hostel for boys and one for girls. The other hostel is expected to be complete by August 2025. Sports facilities are good. It has most of the sports courts and grounds.
Faculty: NIT Delhi has one of the best curriculum systems, as the NEP ( new education policy) is implemented here. All faculty members are PhD holders and experienced in their respective fields. Exam patterns are suitable for students. There is not too much pressure for the curriculum.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2026
3.8
4Placements5Infrastructure4Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life3Value for Money
I have to say about placements that NIT Delhi has a good record and average salary is 12.5 LPA.
Placements: We are the first batch in NIT Delhi in the department of mechanical engineering. We will pass out in 2026 as a student of first batch in mechanical branch. We don't have seniors to guide us for placements and others so we have to do our best by ourselves. We are the seniors but I have to say that our faculty members are too good here.
Infrastructure: Courses are completed at the end of the semester as we all know our college has recently shifted to the new campus at Bakoli village. So infrastructure is all new and according to the new beautiful design. All facilities are provided better than expected.
Faculty: Faculty members are too good. But the criteria for maintaining the attendance is at least 75% which I think no student wants. Most of the day scholar students are not even able to attend the lecture due to the busy traffic in Delhi on time. So it would be very difficult to attend the lecture for day scholars. Also, if they don't allow in the exam if attendance is less than 75%.
Other: The reason for choosing this branch is that I come from a rural background where I see so many physical things like automobiles, other machines, and materials. All these things motivated me to go into this field. One more thing is that my rank is also around to get into this branch for college like NIT. I want to come to Delhi to pursue my degree that's why I chose this college.

Food in mess is bad. 5 students share a room.
Placements: Percentage of placement in my college of my branch is more than in any other branch. It's about 89% and the highest package of this session is currently more than 55 LPA and the lowest is 9 LPA. Big MNCs like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Flipkart, and many others come for placements and internships. Top roles offered here are SWE.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi connectivity in hostel is not that fine but it sometimes fluctuates, in library or any other it's better than hostel. Classrooms are fully centralized and smart boards are available. The quality of the mess food is not good and the canteen also doesn't contain many items. Sports facilities are very good at this college. There is almost every game and there are coaches for each game.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful in terms of studies and some teachers are very strict with their course. They try hard to make students industry-ready. If you want to know about the difficulty of semester exams it varies according to teachers and subject. Many times pass percentage is between 75% to 100% but sometimes it degrades up to 50%.
Other: I would like to pursue my career as an electrical engineer before and after when I came to this college. I got to know that the company related to software visits more than the core companies so because of placements I would prefer to go on the software side. I would say that there must be a fest in a year. College doesn't conduct any kind of fest or other sports fest. There are many clubs in college and many of them are currently active such as photography club, cultural club, and tech club.

The college has to improve the infrastructure and hostel facilities.
Placements: There are 63 students in my course. As I am in the first year, I can tell you that the highest package this year is around 53 LPA. Companies like Google, Adobe, etc. All the top companies come to the college to hire students. The top roles that are offered are on the basis of the skills you have.
Infrastructure: Infrastructure is good, but right now, the college is in the construction phase, so it will roughly take around 3 to 4 years to build all of the infrastructure. Nonetheless, buildings that have really good infrastructure. Wi-Fi is available everywhere. Labs, classrooms, and the library are also well managed.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and well-qualified. The curriculum is relevant. Semester exams are like any other college. If you study, you will pass the exam easily. The teaching quality here is good, but it depends on every teacher. There are teachers who give content that you can understand easily.
Other: I chose this course because it is the best option I can opt for. As I said before, construction is going on here, so fests are not that grand, but scholarships are there for students, and sports tournaments happen frequently.

NIT Delhi Mechanical Engineering Review.
Placements: Placements for mechanical engineering are respectable but not extraordinary, with an average placement rate of 75% - 85%. The number of core mechanical roles is much lower compared to IT consulting and analytics jobs. The highest package reaches 18-20 LPA (mostly non-core), while the average hovers around 6-7 LPA. Some core recruiters include Tata Motors, Maruti Suzuki, ISRO, and L&T, while IT jobs are offered by TCS, Infosys, and Accenture. 86% of students get internships, typically off-campus. Roles include Design Engineer, Data Analyst, and others. It brings returns if students adapt and upskill.
Infrastructure: The Mechanical Engineering Department at NIT Delhi offers well-equipped labs and spacious classrooms. Internet services via Wi-Fi are provided, although they are not very stable most of the time. The hostel facilities are fine, though there are some space constraints, with decent rooms and basic amenities. Mess food is just average, although the variety could be better. The canteen provides additional meal options, but those are also limited. A doctor visits the campus, and serious cases are referred to a nearby hospital. Sports facilities are still developing, providing room for improvement.
Faculty: Qualified faculty with vast knowledge have a unique way of delivering lectures, depending on the subject. Some are supportive, while others focus more on theory than practical implementation. It is academically very robust but lacks industry-oriented exposure, requiring students to acquire skills themselves. The semester exams are moderately difficult, with a heavy emphasis on conceptual understanding. The pass percentage is high (85-90), but scoring well requires effort. The course provides a strong academic foundation, but being employable requires additional certifications, internships, and coding skills.
Other: I have chosen this profession since Mechanical Engineering is a versatile and problem-solving field. A strong theoretical foundation and opportunities in multi-disciplinary areas are at the core of the degree. However, areas that need improvement include industrial exposure and core placements. The campus is home to technical and cultural fests like Terra Technical, where innovation comes to life. The student crowd is diverse, and monetary help scholarships to bright students. Connectivity to Delhi is fairly decent, but the area around the campus is still somewhat underdeveloped. All in all, self-driven students can grow here.

College with good infrastructure but not fully constructed and dissatisfied with the hostel.
Placements: NIT Delhi provides decent placements to the students, with an average package of 16 Lacs per annum and the highest package of 85 Lacs per annum. Some of the companies that recruit from our college are Accenture, BlackRock, Swiggy, Zomato, Flipkart, Meesho, etc.
Infrastructure: NIT Delhi got its permanent campus recently, so its infrastructure is very good but not fully constructed, with smartboards in classes, properly functioning labs, and all the necessary infrastructure and machinery provided. Moving to the hostel, it is average, not too good, and the food is just eatable.
Faculty: All the professors are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, with good teaching quality. Moreover, the course curriculum is totally inclined towards the current demand in society. Every semester compromises of two exams: one is the mid-semester exam of 25 marks, and the end-semester exam of 50 marks, out of which there is no limit for mid-semester marks, but a minimum of 15 is required in the end-semester exams to pass.
Other: Being a college of national importance, the college authorities, professors, and teaching quality are average, but more improvement in teaching quality is required. Moreover, there are no fests organized, which means campus life is almost dead, which is quite concerning.
