Great placements, strong academics, vibrant campus life, and excellent infrastructure.
Placements: The B.Tech ECE program at NITK Surathkal has a placement rate of around 72.7% in 2024–25. The highest package offered is approximately 51–55 LPA, with an average of 20.6 LPA, and the lowest is around 4.5 LPA. Top recruiters include Google, Microsoft, Qualcomm, Texas Instruments, and Samsung. About 55–65% of students secure internships at companies such as Oracle, Airtel, Bosch, and Citi India. The top roles offered are Core Engineer, Software Developer, Analyst, and Networking Engineer. The program offers strong placement support and industry exposure across both core and tech domains.
Infrastructure: NITK Surathkal offers excellent infrastructure for the ECE department, including advanced labs, smart classrooms, high-speed Wi-Fi, and access to a well-stocked central library. Hostels are spacious with decent facilities, regular water supply, and Wi-Fi. The mess food is average but hygienic, with multiple canteens offering better options. Medical facilities include a health center with doctors available 24hrs. The campus also features extensive sports infrastructure, cricket, football, badminton, basketball, a gym, and an Olympic-size swimming pool. The serene beachside location, combined with strong academics and vibrant student life, makes NITK a great place for overall development.
Faculty: Faculty in the ECE department at NITK Surathkal are highly qualified, experienced, and supportive. Most hold PhDs and are actively involved in research. The teaching quality is strong, blending theory with practical applications. The curriculum is regularly updated and includes core subjects, labs, and electives aligned with industry trends, helping students become job-ready. Semester exams are moderately difficult, focusing on conceptual understanding. With consistent study, they are manageable, and the pass percentage is generally above 90%. Overall, the ECE course at NITK is academically rigorous yet rewarding, preparing students well for both industry roles and higher education.
Other: I chose the ECE course at NITK because it offers a perfect balance of hardware and software skills. It opens diverse career paths in core electronics and tech industries. The best aspects include excellent faculty, well-equipped labs, strong placement records, and a flexible curriculum. However, more hands-on projects and industry exposure could further improve the course. NITK also offers vibrant fests like Incident and Engineer, a talented and diverse student crowd, and a beautiful beachside campus. The institute provides good connectivity, scholarships, and numerous extracurricular opportunities, making campus life enriching both academically and socially. Overall, it’s a well-rounded and rewarding experience.

It is a awesome college.
Placements: The percentage of students got placed in my college is approximately 97%. The highest package is 52 LPA, the lowest package is 6 LPA, and the average package is 15 LPA-18 LPA. The recruiting companies are too good, and they can achieve bigger and bigger choices.
Infrastructure: Scenic & well-equipped A 295-acre beachside campus featuring private access, lush green zones, and world-class sports facilities including swimming pool, tennis courts, gyms, and stadium. Everything is good, having this kind of college is okay. Mess food is decent.
Faculty: NITK Surathkal is one of India's premier engineering institutions, particularly strong in core and technical branches due to its excellent faculty, research environment, natural campus, and placement success, if you're up for a slightly high. Faculty of AI isn't that good, most we have to do is self-study.
Other: There are no academic or cultural restrictions.

My college has good infrastructure, and facilities are also good.
Placements: In my college, approximately 95% of students get placed, with the highest package being 54 LPA and the lowest 11 LPA. Some subjects in my course are very good. About 50% of the students in my course receive internships.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided to us are very good. Wi-Fi facility quality is also excellent. Classrooms are well-maintained and have Wi-Fi access. Regarding hostels, the food available is average. Medical facilities, sports, and games are also well-maintained.
Faculty: Teachers are very good, qualified, helpful, and knowledgeable. The semester exams are not too difficult but slightly above average, with a pass percentage of about 97-99%. The course curriculum is relevant and also prepares students for the industry.
Other: I choose this course because I love working on computers. The fests are very good.

College has all the required things for students in all terms.
Placements: The placement is always above 90% among the eligible students. Top companies like Microsoft, Adobe, and Oracle. It depends on the student's choice and their exploration in getting internships and top roles in any company. Students' abilities can drive them to get internships from outside also.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi is a little issue sometimes we get some suffering, but mostly we don't face it. It is not a big thing to be concerned about everywhere it's common. Everything is fine but sometimes there is an issue of food poisoning and all. We have good medical facilities and have an HCC inside the college open 24 hours.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and very friendly in teaching. Every course is useful for us and makes us better. Pass percentage is above 85%. Students abilities are tested in exams so it is important that every student has to be legit and cross that minimum mark. In many cases, malpractice is the reason for their failures so it's all the students' fault in this type of situation. But some lectures don't give marks though we are eligible sometimes it's really hard.
Other: CSE is always a great course for those who have an interest in coding and that driven me to choose this option. Better ways of teaching the basics more carefully. All the activities are good. But if the budget is more than I guess that you will be more productive and useful for us in all terms.

Really good infrastructure with excellent sports facilities.
Placements: Almost 70% of the students got placed. The average package is 19 LPA while the highest is 52 LPA. For my course ECE, Qualcomm and Texas Instruments are major recruiters. Hardware engineer and analyst roles are offered. I am not very aware of the internships and all but placement wise it is good.
Infrastructure: We cannot use Wi-Fi in our hostel but we have LAN facility in our rooms. Hostel facilities are good while mess food is not that good. Sports facilities are amazing, especially cricket. We have cricket kit, nets, etc. There is a health care center within the college.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly knowledgeable and they teach well. Semester exams can be cleared by studying a night before the exam. As far as I heard from the seniors, the course is relevant and makes students industry-ready. Teachers are friendly and they are keen to share their knowledge.
Other: I heard from a lot of people that NITK is one of the top institutes, and ECE branch at NITK has good demand. Events will depend on the people you have selected in the student council selection. Government gives scholarships to people whose income is below 1 lakh.

B.Tech. in Mining Engineering - Batch of 2026

My review of Mining Engineering at NITK, Surathkal.
Placements: I am a B.Tech mining engineering student from the 2026 batch. On-campus internships are negligible, though a few students secure off-campus internships. For Placements, Vedanta & JSW are the major recruiters for Mining. Vedanta gives good packages than any other core company. But they require a maximum gap of 1 year, which means the gap between the 12th/PUC and engineering should not exceed 1 year. Its CTC is 16 LPA ( in 2025) for mining engineers, and other core branch has around 14 LPA (2025).
Infrastructure: Hostels are good. In the first year of B.Tech, 3 students need to stay in a shared room. In the second year, 2 students need to stay in a shared room. In the 3rd & 4th year, students are allotted a single sharing room in mega tower hostels. Now all rooms have LAN facilities, but it fluctuates.
Faculty: Mining department has only around 10 - 11 faculty staff. Few are good and few are worse. Scoring is easy in mining. But for mining engineering, you won't get good materials on the internet or in the library (no good books there for mining), and the professors won't provide lecture materials.
Other: If your ranking is low, then choosing mining engineering at NITK is the best option if you want to study in NITs.

By analysing their strengths and weaknesses, candidates can identify their areas of proficiency and topics where they need improvement. No, you cannot get admission in Nit suratkal's EEE branch with 80 percentile becoz An 80 percentile in JEE Main translates to a rank that is likely to be above 170,000. For top NITs like Surathkal, especially for EEE, the cutoff ranks for the ST category and Home State are significantly lower.
