SEED Exam 2022- The Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID) released the merit list of SEED 2022 on April 15, 2022. Candidates who are included in the SEED 2022 merit list need to pay the fee and register for their respective programs between April 15 and 27, 2022. The Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) for Phase 2 was conducted from April 9-11, 2022. Shortlisted candidates had to upload their PRPI tasks and portfolios for Phase 2 from April 8-10.
What is SEED?
Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) is a design aptitude test conducted by Symbiosis International University to offer admissions to aspirants in BDes programmes offered at Symbiosis Institute of Design (SID). It may be noted that from 2019 onwards admission to BDes courses offered at Symbiosis School of Planning, Architecture and Design (SSPAD), Nagpur is also done through the SEED exam.
Earlier known as SET for Design, SEED conducted by Symbiosis International University (SIU) for design course admissions evaluates candidates on spheres such as colour, geometry, visual observations, general design awareness, creative thinking abilities, and awareness of Indian culture, craft, traditions and the likes. SEED conducted by SIU comprises objective type questions with multiple choice.

SEED 2022 Admit Card
SEED admit card are available for download on the official website of the institute from January 31, 2022 onwards. The hall ticket is a mandatory document that a registered student must produce at the time of SEED exam. The admit card for SEED exam would be issued for only those candidates who have duly filled and submitted their application form for Symbiosis Institute of Design admissions.
SEED 2022 Application Process
Candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps to successfully secure admission in design courses offered by SIU.
Step 1: Register for SEED 2022
Aspirants need to fill the application form to appear for the SEED exam on the official website of the design entrance exam. The application fee for SEED is INR 2950/- (INR 1950/- for SEED & INR 1000/- for SID).
Step 2: Apply online at SID
After registering for SEED, aspirants need to register online on the official website of SID. Here, candidates need to use their SEED ID and password to log in and register at SID online.
Step 3: Download SEED 2022 Admit Card
Candidates can download the admit card from the official website of SID. After, downloading the admit card aspirants need to take a clear print of their admit card. The SEED Exam admit card contains the candidate’s full name, roll number and centre details. Aspirants need to place their latest passport-sized coloured photograph on their SEED admit card at the required place, otherwise, they will not be allowed to appear for the online personal interview round and their portfolio will also not be reviewed.
Step 5: Appear for SEED Exam
SEED exam is a two and a half hours duration entrance test that contained objective type questions. Candidates need to take the test as per the information mentioned on the SEED admit card.
Step 6: Check the Final Merit List
SEED results are announced by SIU on the official website of SET. The final merit list for admission in design programmes offered at SID would be prepared based on an aspirant’s performance in the Personal Interaction round and their portfolio review.
SEED 2022 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates need to fulfil the eligibility criteria as listed by SID for admission in design programmes offered by it. Aspirants meet SEED eligibility criteria if they have:
- Cleared Class 12 (from any stream; e.g.: Science, Commerce, Arts, etc.) or equivalent (Or)
- Cleared 10+3 diploma approved by State Board of Technical Education with minimum 50% aggregate marks (45% marks or equivalent grade for Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribes).
Aspirants who are appearing for their final exams in the 10+2 or 10+3 diploma programmes exam pattern also meet the SEED 2022 eligibility criteria on the condition that their final exam results are declared latest by June of the admission year.
Note: Any candidate who fails in his/her Class 12 examination but later appears for and clears the immediate compartmental examination which is held in the same year, in their first attempt, is eligible for provisional admissions at SID.
Added Advantage: Aspirants who possess the Creative Aptitude and Skills required to pursue Design education will be preferred. Apart from this, any candidate who has created or maintained a relevant portfolio will be given preference.
Admission for International Students
“All the admissions for international students are handled only through the Symbiosis International Office. To know the detailed admission procedure for the Degree Programme of Design, a student needs to log on to the website http://scie.ac.in/or write to us on intadmissions@symbiosis.ac.in”, informs the official website.
SEED 2022 Admission Process
Candidates seeking admission to Symbiosis Institute of Design have to follow the process as under:
Step 1: After qualifying SEED appear for PRPI round
After completion of online Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), the result will be put up on the SID website as per the schedule. Candidate's who qualify SEED, would be eligible to appear for SID’s Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round. As per official website the shortlisting of candidates will be based on the specialization selected by them during the online registration process.
Step 2: Upload the portfolio
Candidates are supposed to upload the portfolio on the portal a day prior to the PRPI. Check the SEED 2022 pattern to know about the portfolio requirements in detail.
Step 3: Perform the PRPI Task
The PRPI task will be shared 3 days prior to the chosen date of online PRPI. Candidates are required to upload the PRPI task on the portal a day prior to the PRPI.
Step 4: Appear for the online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI)
After performing the PRPI taks candidates have to appear for the online Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction (PRPI) round, where they will be asked questions about their tasks and portfolio uploaded.
Step 5: Final Selection
The final selection of the candidates would be based on their cumulative performance in Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED), Portfolio Review, PRPI Task and Personal Interaction. Also on the basis of the information provided by the candidate in the application form and their chosen specialization.
Note: Candidates on waiting list would be considered for provisional admission in the order of merit depending on the vacancies after March 21, 2022.

SEED 2022 Preparation Tips
While preparing for SEED, it is important for candidates to have a plan in mind. This is how candidates should plan their SEED preparation:
- Have a proper SEED preparation strategy in place
- Know SEED exam pattern thoroughly and go through sample papers and syllabus for SEED.
- Pick the best design aptitude test books to prepare.
- The aim should be to score well in SEED
- Focus on your time management skills and improving speed of answering questions based on Mathematics and Science.
- Solve as many mock tests, sample papers and previous years' question papers as possible to know your strong and weak areas for the exam.
SEED 2022 Syllabus
Symbiosis Entrance Exam for Design (SEED) syllabus includes topics of Visualisation, Observational, Perceptual & Reasoning Abilities, Creative & Problem-Solving Abilities and Application of Basic Knowledge of Science & Mathematics. As the MCQs are asked in the exam based on the above mentioned topics candidates are advised to start their preparation in advance especially before nine to ten months of the exam. SEED 2022 Pattern
As per the official website, the candidates had to appear for SEED exam and those qualifying the exam will be shortlisted for portfolio review and personal interaction rounds. The exam pattern for SEED 2022 will be such that aspirants had to attempt 150 multiple choice questions in two and a half hours duration.

After qualifying the SEED exam candidates are supposed to appear for the Portfolio Review and Personal Interaction Round. The portfolios of candidates should fullfil the requirements set by the institute. However some conditions are given below:
- Sketches, mixed-media illustrations and digital work
- Collaging of images, 2D and 3D articles
- Photography
