NID admit card 2021 has been released on March 4 at about 2:30 PM. Candidates can download the NID DAT admit card from the official website using their login credentials. The NID Entrance Exam 2021 will be conducted on March 14 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Candidates need to report at the NID exam centre at 8:00 AM.
The NID DAT application process 2021 ended on February 20. Also, NID application form correction window closed on February 23.
What is NID Entrance Exam?
NID Design Aptitude Test is a means through which aspirants are shortlisted for admission in UG and PG design courses offered at the prestigious National Institute Design (NID) campuses. Candidates need to clear two NID admission tests in order to be eligible for admission in Bachelor of Design (BDes) and Master of Design (MDes) courses offered at its campuses.
Earlier, NID offered admission for its five campuses through NID entrance exam. In 2019, two more NID campuses, that is, NID Bhopal and NID Jorhat were added to the list wherein admission was offered in GDPD course on the basis of NID admission test.
Initially, NID offered Bachelor of Design (BDes), Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD) and Master of Design (MDes) courses at its campuses. However, from 2020 onwards the new NID campuses (i.e., NID Andhra Pradesh, NID Madhya Pradesh NID Haryana and NID Assam) which offered GDPD courses to students also started offering BDes degree programmes based on their performance in NID Entrance Exam.
Note: Depending on the prevailing pandemic situation of COVID-19, the schedule and nature/ structure of the NID DAT 2021 can change and all tests can be conducted entirely online or entirely offline or in a combination of both modes as per the discretion of the Institute.

NID DAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who want to apply for BDes at NID meet the eligibility criteria if they have cleared or are appearing for their higher secondary (10+2) qualifying examination from any stream (Science, Humanities, Commerce, etc.) from any recognised board such as CBSE, IB, ICSE or their equivalent in the year 2020-2021.
On the other hand, candidates are eligible to apply for MDes course if they have completed their bachelor’s degree from a recognised college/university. Apart from this, aspirants applying for NID admission in MDes course should not be more than 30 years of age as on June 30, 2021.

NID Admission Process 2021
NID admissions 2021 is a two-tier process. To secure admission in BDes and MDes courses offered at NID campuses, candidates need to appear for NID DAT (Prelims) and NID DAT (Mains). The objective of conducting both these tests is to assess knowledge, skills as well as behavioural abilities of candidates. Aspirants can go through the steps to follow as part of NID admission process 2021 below:
Step 1: Fill NID DAT Application Form
Candidates need to go through the eligibility criteria for NID admissions for the course in which they want to apply for admission. After doing this, aspirants need to fill their NID Design Aptitude Test 2021 application form on the official website of National Institute of Design. Along with the application form, candidates need to upload their supporting documents, signature and photograph. After filling all the details in NID registration form, aspirants need to pay the application fee either online (by Credit/ Debit Card) or offline (by Demand Draft) which needs to be drawn in favour of "All India Management Association" and should be payable at New Delhi.

Step 2: Download NID DAT Admit Card
The call letter/admit card for NID Entrance Exam 2021 is available for download on the official website of the exam. Aspirants who do not receive the admit card for the entrance test need to contact NID Admission Cell immediately.
Step 3: Appear for NID Entrance Exam/ NID DAT (Prelims)
The first stage of NID admissions, i.e., NID DAT (Prelims) is a written test which comprises of objective as well as subject questions. The entrance exam conducted by NID is of three hours duration.

Step 5: Download NID DAT Mains Admit Card
Candidates who clear NID DAT Prelims exam are then issued an admit card for NID DAT Mains. Aspirants can download NID DAT Mains admit card from the official website of National Institute of Design by entering their login details.
Step 6: Appear for NID DAT Mains
Candidates who make it to the cut-off for NID DAT (Prelims), are then eligible to appear for NID DAT (Mains) wherein authorities conduct a Studio Test and Interview round. In the Studio Test for NID admissions aspirants are given hands-on practical assignments which they need to complete within the stipulated time.
Step 7: Check NID Final Result
On the basis of a candidate's performance in NID DAT (Prelims) and NID DAT (Mains), the final merit list for NID admissions is prepared. Aspirants can check the merit list for NID admissions on the official website of the exam.

Exam Day Guidelines for NID Admission Test 2021
The test-takers will not be provided with any stationery and they need to carry the same with them when they head out to appear for NID exam. Mentioned below is a list of documents that aspirants need to carry with them when appearing for NID Entrance Exam 2021.

NID DAT 2020 Student Reaction
NID DAT 2020 was conducted on December 29, 2019. Most of the students who gave the exam this year shared that the test pattern was along expected lines and the difficulty level of the questions asked was not that high. Further, the majority of the students who gave NID entrance exam 2020 felt that the paper was very long as they had to attempt six subjective questions. NID DAT 2019 Student Reaction
NID Entrance Exam 2019 was conducted across 21 test cities in India on January 6, 2019. Most of the students who took NID DAT 2019 shared that there was a major change in NID entrance exam pattern which was not communicated by the National Institute of Design authorities.
NID exam pattern as shared by authorities communicated that the test paper would contain subjective questions of 30 marks weightage and objective type questions for 70 marks. But NID DAT Prelims exam pattern was just the opposite. Thus, in NID DAT 2019 aspirants had to attempt objective as well as subjective questions as per the below-mentioned weightage.

NID Entrance Exam Student Reaction 2018
NID DAT (Prelims) 2018 was conducted on January 7 across 23 test cities in the country from 10 am to 1 pm. Shiksha spoke to students after NID DAT 2018 was conducted and most of the students who took NID exam for BDes exam shared that the test was lengthy and a bit difficult than past years’ papers. Similar was the reaction given by MDes aspirants who also shared that NID DAT Prelims 2018 was average to difficult with respect to the standard of questions asked in the paper.
The marking scheme for NID Entrance Exam 2018 was as shared by the National Institute of Design authorities. In the paper, the MCQs section was of 70 marks weightage whereas the subjective questions amounted to 30 marks weightage. Data shows that more females apply for NID Entrance Exam as compared to male candidates. In 2019, 13,891 female candidates applied for the design entrance exam as compared to 7,933 male aspirants.

A. Total seats have increased for NID admissions 2021. Seats on offer in BDes courses through NID entrance exam is 125 for admissions 2021-22. Apart from this number, overseas candidates are offered 19 seats for admission in BDes course, this year.
On the other hand, candidates can secure admission to fill 347 seats in MDes programmes at NID campuses. Apart from this number, some seats are also reserved for overseas (supernumerary) candidates.
