JEE Main 2021: 10 mistakes to avoid during the exam
Below are 10 mistakes that the candidates must avoid while appearing in JEE Main 2021 exam.
Mistake 1: Poor time management
JEE Main candidates must distribute their time properly among each section so that they donβt end up leaving out the questions due to lack of time. Make sure that you are not spending more time than required time for any question or in a section.
Mistake 2: Not reading the questions properly
It is very important that students read the questions properly before beginning to solve. Understand what information is given in question and is asked. This year the JEE Main exam pattern has been changed. Candidates must use wisely the optional questions which can help increase the JEE Main scores. Aspirants must properly understand the choices in the paper and then attempt the question.
Mistake 3: Do not answer any questions in a hurry
Often students find similar questions in the actual paper like in the JEE Main sample papers that they have prepared from. However, questions in the JEE Main question paper might be asked in a different way. Therefore, candidates must thoroughly understand the question and only then answer it.
Mistake 4: Not reading options carefully
Each question in JEE Main 2021 exam will carry four different options. The candidates must read the options carefully and then select the correct option. There are chances that the options will be tricky with two similar-looking options for a particular multiple-choice question (MCQ) and the candidate may mark out the wrong option.
Mistake 5: Wasting time on each question
Candidates who are unsure of certain answers must avoid wasting a lot of time on them and move on to the next question. Aspirants must try attempting the left-out questions towards the end of the exam.
Mistake 6: Being unaware of syllabus or exam pattern
Many students forget to follow JEE Main syllabus and exam pattern properly while preparing for the exam. The NTA had released the exam pattern and syllabus on its website nta.nic.in. The students must read them to understand each section and its importance.
Mistake 7: Stressing out
It is normal for the JEE Main candidates to out during the exam or before the exam. The key is to handle the stress properly and not let the question paper overwhelm them. They must prepare themselves for any tricky situation where they might not know the correct answer to a question.
Mistake 8: Taking the JEE Main first attempt lightly
JEE Main 2021 exam will be held four times. Students will get an opportunity to clear the national-level entrance exam. They must not take this first attempt lightly thinking to cover up in the next attempts. The May attempt will be falling in between the CBSE board exams and the March and April exams may be punctuated with the board practical exams, hence, try attempting to clear the JEE Main paper in the February session itself.
Mistake 9: Not revising
The candidates must leave out a few minutes at the end of the exam to revise the paper. They must look out for any left-over question in the paper and see if they have properly darkened out the correct option in the OMR sheet.
Mistake 10: Choosing the wrong section to begin the paper
It is important to choose the correct section to attempt first in the JEE Main paper. Candidates need to formulate their own JEE main exam strategy. The JEE Main candidates are often advised to begin their paper with the Chemistry section. They must pick up that section out of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM) about which they are confident. Aspirants must go through the question paper to understand the difficulty level of the paper and then make an informed decision. Sometimes candidates end up spending more time on a difficult section and not able to give optimum time to other sections.
