Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) – Main is the national level entrance examination conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). Every year, around 11 lakh candidates appear in the exam to secure a seat in any of the National Institute of Technology (NITs), Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIITs), and other colleges. JEE Main is also a preliminary entry to JEE Advanced for admission to IITs in India. Since 2021, JEE Main is being conducted four times.
JEE Main is conducted for two papers - Paper 1 and Paper 2. Paper 1 for BE/BTech courses and Paper 2 BArch and BPlanning courses. The computer-based test is held for 3/3.5 hours for 300 (400 for BPlanning) marks.
BTech Colleges Accepting JEE Main India - Eligibility Criteria
The eligibility criteria for admission to the BTech course require fulfillment of certain eligibility criteria set by the authority. Below are the eligibility conditions for admission through JEE Main.
Qualifying exam: Aspiring candidates should have passed class 12 or qualifying the exam in 2019 or 2020 or appearing in 2021.
Qualifying Year of 10+2 level exam: Candidates passed QE in the year 2019, 2020 or appearing in 2021 and will be appearing in 2021 are eligible for JEE Main 2021. Candidates who passed Class 12th/Qualifying examination in 2016 or before as well as those who will appear in such examination in 2021 or later are not eligible to appear in JEE (Main) 2021.
Combination of subjects in qualifying exam
- For BE/BTech: Physics, Mathematics, any one of (Chemistry, Biology, Biotechnology, Technical Vocational Subject)
- For BArch: Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry
- For BPlan: Mathematics
Number of attempts: Students can appear in JEE Main for three consecutive years. JEE Main exam is conducted 4 times in February, March, April, and May.
