Math, along with a good GATE score, makes you eligible to apply for admission to M.Tech programs in IITs. However, the eligibility criteria for M.Tech admissions vary across IITs, and you will need to check the specific requirements of the institute and the programme you are interested in. Typically, for M.Tech admissions in IITs, candidates are required to have a Bachelor's degree in engineering or technology, or a master's degree in Science or computer applications with a minimum percentage of marks, as well as a valid GATE score. However, some IITs may also accept candidates with a non-engineering background, like in your case, based on their academic performance and other criteria. I would suggest you visit the website of the IIT where you want to apply and check the eligibility criteria for the M.Tech programme you are interested in. It's also a good idea to check the admission process, application deadlines, and other relevant information on the institutes website.

These institutes offer high-quality education and research opportunities and have strong industry collaborations, which can help you land a job with a reputed company. On the other hand, if you are looking to gain international exposure, work in a global company or pursue a career abroad, then going abroad to pursue an MS degree may be a better option. An MS degree from a reputed international university can open up several opportunities for you, including higher salary packages and better career growth prospects. You should carefully evaluate your goals, financial resources and personal preferences to decide.

Direct admission to IITs without an interview or written test is extremely rare and is usually offered only to candidates who have exceptional academic credentials, research experience or other achievements. In general, admission to IITs is highly competitive, and the selection process is based on a combination of factors, including your GATE score, academic performance, work experience, and performance in the interview and/or written test. While your GATE score and rank are impressive, it's important to note that admission to IITs is not solely based on your GATE score and rank. It's recommended that you check the official websites of the IITs you are interested in to learn more about their admission process and eligibility criteria. You can also consult with a career counselor or admission consultant for personalized guidance on your admission prospects.

However, GATE also offers a paper for Humanities and Social Sciences (XH). This paper consists of general aptitude questions, and a section that is specific to the candidate's chosen discipline. The GATE scorecard provides a normalized score out of 1000, with scores above 500 being considered good. However, since the paper for Humanities and Social Sciences is relatively new, there is not much data available on the cutoffs or score ranges for this paper. In any case, a score of 52 in GATE XH cannot be compared with the scores of other GATE papers or disciplines. It is best to check the admission requirements of the specific programme or university where you plan to apply for admission to know whether your score is eligible for consideration. Moreover, you may also consider other factors such as your academic record, work experience, and other achievements to strengthen your application. A good score in GATE XH, along with other relevant credentials, can improve your chances of getting admission to a reputed postgraduate programme in the humanities and social sciences.
