Q:   What is the minimum score or rank required in JEE Advanced to get into a good IIT?

The candidates who wish to get admisison to the first generation of the IITs like IIT Bombay, IIT Madras, IIT Kharagpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, and IIT Roorkee must have a high score of 250+ marks out of 360 marks. However, this is not applicable for all courses offered by these IITs. Every course and IIT has different demand and seat ratio which effects the admission of the cabdidates. Hence it is very difficult to say what will be the minimum score or rank required in JEE Advanced to get into a good IIT.

Candidates must aim to score as high as possible in the exam to be get seat in the first generation of the IIts as these IITs see the most demand.

Q:   What is the total number of seats in IITs?

A:

In 2024, the IITs are offering a total of 17,740 seats across various courses and categories through JEE Advanced 2024. With 48,248 candidates qualifying for IIT admissions this year, the number of aspirants exceeds the available IIT seats by almost threefold.

Among the 23 Indian Institutes of Technology, IIT Kharagpur leads with 1,899 seats, followed by IIT BHU with 1,589 seats, IIT Bombay with 1,368 seats, IIT Roorkee with 1,353 seats, and IIT Kanpur with 1,210 seats.

Q:   What minimum marks are required in JEE Advanced to get a seat in IITs?

A:

It's difficult to predict the minimum marks required to get selected in the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) in JEE Advanced as it depends on various factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of students appearing for the exam, and their performance. However, to give you an idea, the minimum marks required to get selected in the IITs vary from year to year and also differ based on the category of the candidate. In general, the cutoff marks for the general category candidates range between 80-90 marks out of 360, while for the reserved categories, it may range from 45-70 marks out of 360. It's important to note that the cutoff marks are just an indication, and the actual cutoffs may vary depending on the factors mentioned above. It's always advisable to aim for a high score in the JEE Advanced exam to increase your chances of getting selected in the IITs.

Q:   What minimum marks are required in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced?

A:

The minimum marks required in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced 2024 are as follows:

  • General (UR): 93.2362181
  • General (UR) PWD: 0.0018700
  • Economically Weaker Section (EWS): 81.3266412
  • Other Backward Classes (OBC): 79.6757881
  • Scheduled Caste (SC): 60.0923182
  • Scheduled Tribe (ST): 46.6975840

Last year's minimum marks in JEE Mains to qualify for JEE Advanced were:

  • General (UR): 90.7788642
  • OBC-NCL: 73.6114227
  • SC: 51.9776027
  • ST: 37.2348772
  • GEN-EWS: 75.6229025
  • General (UR) PWD: 0.0013527

Candidates aiming for admission to the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs) need to meet these cutoff marks in JEE Mains to be eligible for JEE Advanced 2024.

Q:   Which exam offers better opportunities for admission to NITs, JEE Main or JEE Advanced?

A:
Firstly admissions to National Institute of Technology are given based on the performance in examination called JEE Mains. As a matter of fact there is no other examination which is required to be cleared by the student to get admission in these institutes. On the other hand JEE Advanced examination will lead students for admission in IIT's. Thus we can SEE that these two examinations are required for taking admission in two different Sets of Institutions. Also there is no other examination that can get a student admission in either of these to Sets of institutions. In view of foregoing, we can conclude that these are the only two examinations required to be given and no other examination has any score for enabling admission in these two Sets of institutions.
