Q:   Can I get NIT with 87 percentile in JEE Main?

A:
No, you cannot get a seat in NIT with the 87 percentile, especially for popular branches such as Computer Science, Electronics, and Mechanical Engineering. Candidates need to score more than 95 percentile to get into an NIT. However, it's important to note that cutoffs can vary depending on several factors, such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, and the availability of seats.

Q:   Can I get NIT with 95 percentile in JEE Main?

A:
It is possible for you to secure a seat in an NIT (National Institute of Technology), although it may not guarantee your preferred branch or institute. If your percentile is above 96%, your chances of getting into a respectable NIT increase, but you may need to compromise on your branch selection. However, if you aim for a decent NIT with a preferred branch in the core field, you would need to score above 97.5%. On the other hand, if your goal is to get admission to a top college with the CSE (Computer Science and Engineering) branch, your score would need to be higher than 99.4%.

Q:   What should be my rank in JEE Advanced to get admission in top IITs?

A:
To secure admission to the prestigious Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), obtaining a rank around 5000 in the JEE Advanced examination is generally considered necessary. However, for admission to the top IITs, achieving a rank within the approximate range of 2000-2500 is typically required. It's important to note that the exact cutoff can differ each year due to factors such as the number of candidates, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats.

At less competitive NITs you can probably get admitted to branches like biotechnology, metallurgical, or civil with a CRL of 312,466 and a SC category rank of 18,737 in JEE Mains. To secure a seat in the Mining Engineering branch at MBM Engineering College or CTAE Udaipur with a rank of 214000 in JEE Main is highly unlikely. With the rank of 214000 in JEE Mains, securing a seat in a government college for any engineering branch, including Mining Engineering, is challenging.

With an 82 percentile in JEE Main and belonging to the SC category, you have a good chance of securing admission to JNTU Kakinada for various engineering programs. JNTU Kakinada allocates a percentage of seats to SC category candidates, which may work in your favor during the admission process.
