What is Production Engineering?
Production Engineering, also known as Manufacture Engineering, deals with planning, designing, developing and managing of various processes to produce high quality products. A subset of Mechanical Engineering, this branch of engineering, is interdisciplinary in nature as it blends science and technology together.
From Industrial engineer to production manager and from production engineering assistant to Manufacturing engineers, production engineers work in a variety of fields and hold different titles.
In India, the programme is offered at the Undergraduate (UG) and Postgraduate (PG) level. However, after completing their Master's in the field, candidates can also pursue a PhD in Production Engineering.
Production Engineering:Â Eligibility and Top Entrance ExamsÂ
To pursue a BE/BTech degree in production engineering, candidates must have passed Class 12th with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks.
Candidates interested in pursuing an ME/MTech degree in production engineering should have completed their Bachelors in a related discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks.
