Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) NET (also known as CSIR UGC NET) is a national-level exam conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA) to determine the eligibility of candidates for Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and for Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor in the universities and colleges of India. CSIR NET Exam Date 2023 for December session has been released by the Human Resource Development Group, CSIR on X. According to the latest update by CSIR, the CSIR NET 2023 exam will be conducted from December 26 to 28, 2023, in online mode. The NTA will soon start the application process for CSIR NET December 2023 exam.

The basic CSIR UGC NET eligibility criteria 2023 that candidates must fulfil are mentioned below:

CSIR NET Educational Qualification 2023

• Candidates should have obtained a degree in BTech/BE/BPharma/MBBS/BS (four years)/Integrated BS-MS/MSc with a minimum of 55 per cent marks for General (UR)/General-EWS and OBC (50 per cent for SC/ST, Third gender and PwD). 

CSIR NET Age Limit 2023

• To apply for CSIR NET JRF, candidates should be a maximum of 28 years of age. The upper age limit is relaxable for up to 5 years for SC/ST/Third gender/PwD/Females and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 
• There is no upper age limit to apply for the post of Lectureship (LS)/ Assistant Professor

Stage One: Filling up the CSIR NET Application Form

In the first step, candidates need to fill out the CSIR NET Application Form and submit their application form online along with the payment of application fees.

Stage Two: CSIR NET Exam 2023

In the next step, CSIR NET 2023 Exam will be conducted in online mode for all the candidates who successfully submit their completely filled application forms before the last date.

Stage Three: Announcement of CSIR NET 2023 Result

The CSIR NET result 2023 is declared in two categories-

1. One merit list who qualifies for the award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF-NET)
2. The second merit list is for the candidates who qualify for the eligibility test for lectureship (LS-NET)

Stage Four: Interview

The next phase of the selection process is an interview. Qualified candidates, who will be shortlisted on the basis of the merit list will have to face personal interviews in different institutions, laboratories and University departments.

Stage Five: Award of Fellowship

Fellowship will be provided only to those candidates who are able to enrol for PhD in research institutes/ laboratories and Universities within two years of the declaration of the result of the CSIR UGC NET Exam.

CSIR NET Syllabus 2023 for all five subjects, namely Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, and Physical Sciences, is mentioned below.

CSIR NET Syllabus: Part A

• Numerical Ability- Number and Simplification; Average; Quadratic Equations; Sequence and Series; Surd and Indices; Logarithms; Percentage; Profit and Loss; Simple Interest & Compound Interest; Partnership; LCM and HCF; Probability; Mensuration.
• Reasoning- Series Formation; Ranking and Arrangement; Puzzles; Coding-Decoding; Distance and Directions; Calendar and Clock, etc.

The CSIR NET Question Paper 2023 is divided into three sections- Part A, B and C.

Part 'A' shall be common to all subjects. This part shall be a test containing a maximum of 20 questions of General Aptitude. The candidates shall be required to answer any 15 questions for two marks each. The total marks allocated to this section shall be 30 out of 200.

The CSIR NET Part A consists of General Aptitude questions that assess the candidates’ teaching/research aptitude, reasoning ability, comprehension skills, divergent thinking and general awareness.

The CSIR NET Part B and C consist of questions that are based on the subjects chosen by candidates from the following five subjects - Earth, Atmospheric, Ocean and Planetary Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences and Physical Sciences.
