What is IBPS PO?

The banking industry is one of the most sought after career options in the country. Every year lakhs of candidates appear in the various banking exams and one among them is IBPS PO. The exam is conducted by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for recruitment to the post of Probationary Officers/Management Trainee (PO/MT). Candidates are selected on the basis of the preliminary exam, mains exam, and interview. Selected candidates are offered an appointment in any of the 11 participating banks in India.

The mains exam of IBPS PO was conducted successfully on February 4. According to the feedback shared by the candidates, the overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate in terms of difficulty level. The eligibility criteria of IBPS PO had been prescribed by IBPS as per age, educational qualification, and nationality. Candidates need to meet the following eligibility criteria to apply for the exam.

Nationality/Citizenship: Any candidate who is a citizen of India or subject of Nepal/ Bhutan is eligible to appear for IBPS CWE PO 2020 exam. Also, candidates who are Tibetan Refugees and came to India before January 1, 1962, fulfill IBPS PO eligibility criteria. Apart from this, people of Indian origin who migrated from Pakistan/ Burma/ Sri Lanka/ Kenya/ Uganda/ the United Republic of Tanzania/ Zambia/ Malawi/ Zaire/ Ethiopia/ Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling down in India are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Age: Candidates must be between 20 and 30 years. Age relaxation of five, three and ten years is given to SC/ ST, OBC (non-creamy layer), and PwD candidates, respectively.

Filling the application form

Aspirants had to fill IBPS PO application form online. The application fee was Rs 175 for SC/ST/PWBD candidates, while it is Rs 850 for all others.

IBPS PO admit card for the interview has been released. The admit card can be accessed by logging with registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. Earlier, the admit cards for prelims and mains exams were released.

Appearing in the exam

The preliminary exam of IBPS PO was the first stage of the recruitment process. According to IBPS PO exam pattern, the preliminary exam comprised three sections. The total marks of the test were 100. The mains exam of IBPS PO was conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the prelims exam. The mains exam comprised objective and descriptive type papers. The total marks of test were 225. Shortlisted candidates of the mains exam are called for the Common Interview process which is conducted by the participating organizations and co-ordinated by the nodal bank.

Candidates are required to check IBPS PO result online on the official website. To check and download the result, candidates are required to login with the required credentials. The scorecard is issued to candidates a few days after the declaration of result.

IBPS PO Exam Day Guidelines 2020

  • Wearing masks was compulsory while appearing for the mains exam of IBPS PO mains exam
  • Candidates were required to carry hand sanitiser (50ml), pen, gloves and transparent water bottle
  • Aarogya Setu app was compulsory on mobile phones
  • Candidates were asked to reach IBPS PO exam centre as per the slot mentioned on the admit card to avoid overcrowding
  • Candidates had to carry two passport-sized photographs along with the admit card
  • Candidates who reached the exam centre late were not allowed to appear in the exam 
  • Any electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, calculators, pagers, pen drive, etc were not permitted inside the exam centre
  • Stationery items such as textbooks, papers, pencil box, scale, writing pad, etc., were not allowed
  • The biometric impression was captured at the exam centre therefore, candidates were advised not to put Mehendi on their hands
