What is IBPS RRB Recruitment?

IBPS RRB is a national level banking exam conducted every year by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for candidates who aspire to join the Regional Rural Bank (RRBs). Recruitment is carried out for the following Group A and B posts.

Treasury Manager  Officers Scale I
Banking Officer Scale-II Agriculture Officer (Grade-II)
Law Officer (Grade-II) Chartered Accountant (Grade-II)
IT Officer (Grade-II) Officer (Grade III)

For the posts of Officer level posts, the selection process includes preliminary exam, mains/single level exam, and interview. For Office Assistant (Multipurpose)/Clerk, candidates are selected based on preliminary and mains exam. Candidates shortlisted provisionally are allotted to one of the RRBs based on the number of vacancies and merit-cum-preference.

IBPS RRB Prelims Exam Analysis for Office Assistant

The overall paper of IBPS RRB Office Assistant post was easy to moderate in terms of difficulty level. The difficulty level of Quantitative Aptitude was easy to moderate. The eligibility criteria of IBPS RRB are given below.

Age Limit

The age limit prescribed for Office Assistant/Clerk and Officer Scale I posts is 18 to 28 years. The age of candidates applying for Officer Scale-II and III posts should be between 21 to 40 years. Relaxation in age is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories. 

Educational Qualification 

The educational qualification is different for different posts. However, only a graduate candidate can apply for the exam. 

Local Language Proficiency 

Candidates applying in any particular RRB are required to possess proficiency in the local language of the State/ UT in which the same is situated.

IBPS RRB 2020 prelims exam was conducted as per schedule. Earlier, IBPS had issued a notice regarding the postponement of exam scheduled to be conducted on September 12 and 13. However, the notice was withdrawn later. Initially, the exam was scheduled to be conducted on August 1, 2, 8, 9 & 16. However, it was postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The post-wise roles and responsibilities of candidates selected under IBPS RRB recruitment are given below

IBPS RRB Clerk/Office Assistant

IBPS RRB Clerk is the post of Office Assistant. Candidates selected for this post are responsible for handling receipts, handling withdrawal, handling emails, and delivery. 

IBPS RRB PO & SO

Officers Scale 3 is the post of Senior Manager, while Officer Scale 2 is the post of Manager. Officer Scale I is the post of Assistant Manager. The role of IBPS RRB is to check regular banking activities, granting loans, maintaining credit profile, recovery of loans, implementation of schemes, etc. 

IBPS RRB 2020 Selection Process

The post-wise selection process of IBPS RRB is given below

Online registration: To appear for the exam, candidates need to first fill IBPS RRB application form online on the official website. The application fee which should be paid online is Rs 850 for General and OBC candidates and it is Rs 175 for SC/ST/PWD categories. The examination authority has hiked the examination fees.

Release of Admit Card: Different admit cards are released for preliminary, mains/single level exams, and interviews. The admit card is available online on the official website. To download IBPS RRB admit card, candidates need to enter registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. The admit card is a mandatory document without which candidates will not be allowed to appear in the exam.

Entrance exam: The preliminary, mains & single level exams are held online across various cities spread throughout the country and in multiple shifts. Read IBPS RRB exam pattern and syllabus

Result declaration: IBPS RRB result is released online on the official website. To check the result, candidates need to login with registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. The scorecard and IBPS RRB cut off are released a few days after the declaration of result. 

Final Selection: For Office Assistant (Multipurpose)/Clerk post, provisional allotment of candidates is done based on the mains exam only. The final selection for Officers Scale I post is done based on the mains exam and interview. Provisional allotment to the post of Officers Scale II and III is done based on the performance of candidates in the single-level exam and interview. 

IBPS RRB 2020 Exam Centres

IBPS RRB exam centres 2020 for prelims and mains exams were released along with the notification. The preliminary exam of IBPS RRB was conducted in over 150 cities. IBPS RRB 2020 News Exam Day Guidelines

IBPS had published new exam day guidelines for IBPS RRB exam. 

  • The reporting time was different for different candidates
  • Candidates had to report much before the reporting time to avoid crowding
  • Candidates had to report at least 15 minutes before the reporting time indicated on the admit card
  • Candidates roll number and lab number were not displayed outside the exam venue. They were informed individually at the entry post admit card and ID verification

Items permitted inside the exam centre

  1. Candidates were permitted to carry only certain items with them inside the exam venue
  2. Wearing a mask was compulsory
  3. Candidates were also allowed to wear Gloves
  4. Candidates could carry a personal transparent water bottle and hand sanitiser of 50 ml
  5. Candidates were allowed to carry pen
  6. Candidates had to carry exam related documents such as admit card, ID card in Original, Photocopy of ID Card, etc
  • Candidates were asked to install Aarogya Setu App on their mobile phones
  • Candidates had to submit a self-declaration
  • All candidates were checked with Thermo guns at the entry point for temperature

Candidate registration

  • Candidates' registration was done through photo capture
  • Photograph was taken while candidates were standing
  • The seat number was given to the candidate after registration

Rough sheet, call letter and ID proof management

  • Rough sheets were kept at each candidate's desk. No additional rough sheets were provided 
  • The call letter and ID proof copy was required to be dropped in the boxes provided at the exit of lab/venue
  • Candidates had to drop the rough sheets in the boxes provided at the exit of the lab/venue while leaving the exam centre
  • The drop boxes were different for the rough sheets and call letters

Post Examination 
On completion of a shift, candidates had to move out in an orderly manner without crowding as instructed by the venue staff

Banned items

  • Any stationery item such as textual material (printed or written), bits of papers, Geometry/Pencil Box, Plastic Pouch, Calculator, Scale, Writing Pad, Pen Drives, Log Table, Electronic Pen/Scanner, etc was not allowed inside the exam centre
  • Any communication device such as mobile phone, Bluetooth, earphones, microphones, pager, health band, etc., were not allowed
  • Other items such as sunglasses, handbags, hair-pin, hair-band, belt, cap, etc., were also not allowed
  • All ornament such as ring, earrings, nose-pin, chain/necklace, pendants, badge, brooch, etc. were thoroughly checked
  • Watch, camera, or any metallic item were not allowed
  • Any eatable item opened or packed, water bottle, etc., were not allowed
  • Any other item which could be used for unfair means for hiding communication devices such as camera, Bluetooth devices, etc were not allowed

IBPS RRB Registered Vs Appeared

In 2019-20, a total of 7.13 lakh candidates had registered for Office Assistant/Clerk post while 5.39 lakh candidates had registered for Officers post. Out of the total registered candidates, a total of 4.89 lakh candidates had appeared for Office Assistants/Clerk post while 4.09 lakh candidates had appeared for Officers post.
