What is SBI PO 2020 Recruitment?

State Bank of India (SBI) every year conducts SBI PO exam to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officer. A large number of candidates apply for the exam, out of which only a few are selected depending on the number of vacancies. SBI PO is considered the most sought after banking exams in the country. Successful candidates are posted as Probationary Officers in the various branches of the bank.

SBI PO 2020 Interview Call Letter

SBI PO 2020 admit card for Interview has been released on February 20, 2021. Candidates can download their SBI PO admit cards for Interview till March 7, 2021, from the official website by logging with registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. 

SBI PO 2020 Result

SBI PO 2020 result for the mains exam was announced on February 16. The result was made available in PDF form and comprised the roll numbers of qualified candidates. The scorecard will be released soon. To download the scorecard, candidates need to enter registration number or roll number and date of birth. The scorecard displays the candidate’s name, roll number, registration number, category, date of birth, total marks, marks scorecard, category-wise cutoff marks. On the basis of the candidate's performance in the mains exam, they were selected for phase-III (Interview).

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2020

Candidates need to fulfill the following eligibility criteria.

Educational qualification as on December 31, 2020

According to the SBI PO Eligibility Criteria 2020, candidates who have completed their graduation in any discipline can apply. Candidates who are appearing for their final year/ semester exams are also eligible to apply. However, if shortlisted for the interview round, such candidates are required to provide the proof of having passed the graduation. Candidates having a Chartered Accountant (CA) certificate are also eligible to apply.

Age Criteria as on April 1, 2020

Candidates between 21 to 30 years can apply. It may be noted that age relaxation is given to reserved category candidates as mentioned below.

SBI PO Selection Process 2020

The complete selection process of SBI PO is explained below.

Step 1: Fill SBI PO Application Form

For SBI PO 2020 registrations, candidates first need to fill as well as submit the application form in online mode on the official website of the bank. Thereafter, candidates also need to pay SBI PO application fee in online mode via debit card/ credit card/ internet banking.

Step 2: Download SBI PO Admit Card/ Call Letter

Candidates can download SBI PO 2020 admit card from the official website of the bank. Separate admit cards are issued for preliminary, mains and Group Exercises and Interview. It may be noted that no hard copy of the call letter will be sent by post.

Step 3: Appear for Phase I Preliminary Exam

Next, candidates need to appear for the Preliminary exam at the allotted exam centre. The preliminary exam will be for one duration and candidates need to answer questions related to subjects such as the English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.

Step 4: Appear for Phase II Mains Exam

Candidates qualifying the Preliminary exam then need to appear for SBI PO 2020 Mains exam. Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for the mains exam. The Mains exam contains both objective and descriptive questions that candidates need to complete in a total duration of 3 hours and 30 minutes. 

Step 5: Phase III Interview only or Group Exercises & Interview

This year, due to the pandemic, SBI will conduct Interview only or Group Exercises and Interview. Candidates upto three times the number of vacancies are shortlisted for interview only or Group Exercises and Interview.

Step 6: SBI PO result 

SBI PO result is declared online separately for different stages of recruitment. The result will be available on the official website in PDF format. Candidates will be able to check their qualifying status in the result. SBI PO cut off is released along with the scorecard.

SBI PO Salary 2020

Basic Pay: The starting basic pay is Rs 27,620 (with four advance increments).  

Pay Scale: Rs 23,700-980/7-30,560-1145/2-32,850-1310/7-42,020 applicable to Junior Management.

Allowances: DA, HRA/Lease rental, CCA, Medical and other allowances & perquisites as per rules.

SBI PO Exam Day Guidelines 2020

  • The temperature of candidates was checked at the entry gate
  • Wearing of a mask was mandatory for appearing in the mains exam
  • Candidates could carry a transparent hand sanitiser bottle of 50 ml to the exam centre
  • Candidates were required to carry the printed copy of their admit card to the exam centre
  • Candidates were also asked to carry the photo-identity proof
  • They had to carry two passport-sized photographs to the exam centre
  • Candidates were asked to reach the exam centre one hour before the reporting time
  • Mobile phones or any other electronic devices were not allowed inside the exam centre to

A. There is capping in the number of attempts in SBI PO exam. General Category candidates can take four attempts. For other categories, the number of attempts is limited to seven. Candidates within the prescribed age limit can apply for the exam.

Q. Is there any bond in SBI PO?

A. The selected candidates, at the time of joining, will have to execute a bond of Rs 2 lakh to serve the bank for a minimum period of three years.

Q. Will the selected SBI PO candidates be on probation?

A. Yes, the selected SBI PO candidates will be on probation for two years.

Q. What is the career growth as SBI PO?

A. Candidates can be promoted from the Middle Management Grade Scale-II (MMGS-II) from Junior Management Grade Scale-I (JMGS-I) based on performance.
