The basic difference between SBI SO and SBI PO is that SO is a Specialist Officer and PO is a probationary officer. The starting salary of a probationary officer is INR 27,620, whereas the salary of a specialist officer is Rs. 23,700 per month. Also, the promotional aspect for PO is comparatively better and one can get promoted to the post of Senior Manager within ten years. On the other hand, the SO is appointed for a specialised task, such as a law officer, and their career begins as scale I officers. One can expect to be promoted to the Scale II officer level after a few years. Q:   Why is SBI PO so tough?

A:
There are multiple reasons why clearing the SBI PO exam becomes tough compared to other banking exams. Some of these reasons are: 1. Limited number of attempts: This makes aspirants feel pressured to qualify within the allotted number of attempts. 2. Time constraints: Candidates have one hour to complete 100 questions in the preliminary exam and three hours to complete 155 questions in the main exam. 3. Negative marking: There is one-fourth negative marking of 0.25 marks, which increases the challenge. 4. Tricky questions, such as from the reasoning and data interpretation sections, consume a lot of time. 5. High competition: Candidates appearing for the SBI PO exam are not only huge in numbers but also diverse. A B.Tech graduate may have to compete with an MBA graduate. 6. Sectional cut offs: The candidates need to clear section-wise cutoffs separately, and therefore, aspirants need to score well in all sections. 7. The GD and PI rounds: The group discussion and interview rounds are the final and most challenging.

Q:   Can SBI PO become a manager?

A:
Yes, SBI POs can become managers after getting promoted. There are two ways: 1. Direct promotion after training: This is the first opportunity to become a manager for PO. They can take a cumulative promotion test to get promoted to the post of deputy manager (scale 2). This opportunity is offered after completion of training. 2. Service year based: This is a regular way and POs will get seniority-based promotions per year of service. The Probationary Officer can be promoted to the post of Chief General Manager.

Q:   Is SBI PO a government job?

A:

Yes, the post of probationary officer in the State Bank of India is considered a government job. This is because the government of India has a 57.6% shareholding in SBI bank. As a result, the SBI is treated as a public sector bank and its employees are treated as government employees. However, it is very different from a typical government job in many aspects, as the government does not completely own SBI. If you want to apply for an SBI PO job, then you can visit this page to know in detail about the SBI PO exam process.

Q:   Can SBI PO get a foreign posting?

A:
Yes, an SBI Probationary Officer gets an opportunity for a foreign posting. The SBI has overseas branches in 36 countries, and therefore, officer-level employees get the opportunity to be posted to those branches. The process is as follows: 1.To apply, SBI POs must have completed a mandatory three-year posting across India as well as a two-year rural assignment. 2. The employees will need to appear for a written exam such as the Junior India-Based Officers (JIBO) exam for junior scale officers. 3. This is followed by an interview conducted by a panel of seniors. After that, you may be recommended for a foreign posting as per your performance.

The tips and tricks to crack SBI PO English Language are given below: 1) Read. & Read. It is important for anyone who is preparing for these competitive exams to invest time in reading as it not only develops one's comprehension skills but also helps in building one's vocabulary. Reading Comprehension is given the highest weightage in exams, it can be best practiced through regular reading and understanding 2) Be Familiar With Grammar Basics Most of the students think that grammar is so vast and its rules are infinite. You will be surprised to know that the truth is that there are just a few rules, and grammar is easy to master. Also, grammar-related questions like error spotting, sentence improvement, phrase replacement, etc. Require practice. Solve 10 to 20 grammar questions per day, and make a list of the new errors you learn from every test. This list will work as your ready-reckoner for grammar 3) Vocabulary Building This is an ongoing process and requires you to be persistent. There are even super cool apps that can help one to learn a few words daily and enhance one's vocabulary skills. They are gamified as well, so students can actually have some fun using these apps. Also, vocabulary can be bolstered by a lot of reading. I suggest students should not consider learning vocabulary an onerous task and instead enjoy the process of learning through tricks, hints, etc. SBI PO English Preparations A Few Things to Remember Keep a regular check on your vocabulary. Follow daily editorials and newspapers to enhance your reading speed. This will also help you summarize the topic more efficiently. Try and get the gist of the passage you are reading before attempting the questions. Follow a why, how & what is for an approach to get a complete understanding. Follow the basic fundamental of learning, practicing, and strategizing. One of the best ways to score more in English for bank exams is by solving the previous year question papers and mock tests. This will help you apprehend your performance and also understand the type of questions asked in SBI PO exam
