SBI PO 2025 notification was released on June 24, 2025. The notification was released in PDF form and comprises the details related to the exam. Candidates must read the notification carefully before applying. SBI PO notification is released to fill vacancies for the post of Probationary Officers. Lakhs of candidates every year apply for SBI PO exam. The selection process of SBI PO comprises prelims exam, mains exam, psychometric test, interview and group exercises. SBI PO 2025 application form was released on June 24, 2025. The last date to fill the application form is July 14, 2025. The application form will be released online after the notification is published. Interested candidates need to fill the application form online. SBI PO exam date 2025 has been announced. SBI PO prelims exam will be conducted in July/August. SBI PO Mains exam will be conducted in September 2025. The Phase 3 exam will be conducted in October/November 2025.

The basic difference between SBI SO and SBI PO is that SO is a Specialist Officer and PO is a probationary officer. Both posts are equally good, but the PO post is the most sought after due to the nature of work and the higher number of vacancies. The salary of PO is better than that of PO. The starting salary of a probationary officer is INR 27,620, whereas the salary of a specialist officer is Rs. 23,700 per month. Also, the promotional aspect for PO is comparatively better and one can get promoted to the post of Senior Manager within ten years. On the other hand, the SO is appointed for a specialised task, such as a law officer, and their career begins as scale I officers. One can expect to be promoted to the Scale II officer level after a few years. However, if someone wants to have experience in a particular field, such as HR, and does not want a workload, the SO post is better.

Both SBI PO and SSC CGL are the most competitive exams in the exam. The difficulty level of both the exams are moderate to difficult. To score good marks in the exam, candidates require a strong understanding of General Knowledge, Mathematics and English. SBI PO exam is conducted by the State Bank of India to select eligible candidates for the post of Probationary Officers in the various branches of SBI. SSC CGL exam is conducted to select eligible candidates for Group C and B posts in various central government ministries/departments/organisations. On completion of SBI PO exam, candidates are posted to the post of Probationary Officer. During this time, candidates will get a transfer at least thrice between the centres of training. This means there will be three transfers over the course of two-year probationary period. SBI Clerk qualification is given below:

• Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificates can also apply for the SBI Clerk exam
• Those who are in the final year/ semester of their graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if provisionally selected, they will have to produce proof of having passed the Graduation
• The date of passing the eligibility examination is the date appearing on the mark sheet/certificate or provisional certificate issued by the University/Institute. In case the result of a particular examination is posted on the website of the University/ Institute, a certificate issued by the appropriate authority of the University/Institute indicating the date on which the result was posted on the website will be taken as the date of passing
• Matriculate Ex-servicemen, who have obtained the Indian Army Special Certificate of Education or corresponding certificate in the Navy or Air Force, after having completed not less than 15 years of service in Armed Forces of the Union are also eligible for the post

There are multiple reasons why clearing the SBI PO exam becomes tough compared to other banking exams. Some of these reasons are: 1. Limited number of attempts: This makes aspirants feel pressured to qualify within the allotted number of attempts. 2. Time constraints: Candidates have one hour to complete 100 questions in the preliminary exam and three hours to complete 155 questions in the main exam. 3. Negative marking: There is one-fourth negative marking of 0.25 marks, which increases the challenge. 4. Yes, SBI POs can become managers after getting promoted. There are two ways: 1. Direct promotion after training: This is the first opportunity to become a manager for PO. They can take a cumulative promotion test to get promoted to the post of deputy manager (scale 2). This opportunity is offered after completion of training. 2. Service year based: This is a regular way and POs will get seniority-based promotions per year of service. The Probationary Officer can be promoted to the post of Chief General Manager.

The selected candidates at the time of joining are required to execute a Bond for a value of 2.00 Lacs ( Two Lacs only) to serve the Bank for aminimum period of three years. The Bond is invoked by the Bank if the candidate resigns from the service of the Bank before expiry of three years from the date of joining.

SBI PO full form stands for State Bank of India Probationary Officer recruitment. This is one of the most sought-after exams among graduates. SBI releases vacancies for PO annually to fulfill manpower requirements among its branches.

Candidates 10 times the number of vacancies are selected for the Mains exam. The merit list is drawn category-wise based on the aggregate marks scoored in the prelims exam. There is no sectional cut off. The marks obtained in the prelims exam are not counted for the final merit list.

To apply for SBI PO exam, candidates must be a graduate. Without graduation candidates are not allowed to appear for the exam. Candidates who are in their final year of graduation are not eligible to apply for the exam. 

The two prominent qualities are focus and hard work. Although, The preliminary exam, main exam, and psychometric test (group discussion/interview) are the three stages that make up the SBI PO selection process. The preliminary test, which is the first phase, is qualifying in character. The main exam is the second step and consists of both descriptive and objective tests. To pass the SBI PO cut-off, candidates must achieve high scores in each exam stage. The cutoff for the General category in the SBI PO preliminaries was 58.5, whereas the General category cutoff in the SBI PO Mains was 94.85.

However, candidates need to secure the overall cut off marks as per their categories. There are no qualifying marks in SBI PO exam. Candidates need to secure the cut off marks in the exam as per their category. The question paper of SBI PO is made available in both English and Hindi. After candidates undergo interview, a merit list is prepared by SBI based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam and interview. Based on the final SBI PO cutoff marks and available vacancies, candidates are offered letter of appointment for the post of Probationary Officer. 75 per cent weightage marks of the SBI PO Mains exam (out of 250 marks) and 25 per cent weightage marks of Group Exercise and Interview (out of 50 marks) will be considered. To compile the final merit list the aggregate scores (out of 100) will be calculated.

The prelims and mains exams of SBI PO are conducted online. The prelims exam of SBI PO carries a total of 100 marks. The mains exam of SBI PO carries 250 marks. Candidates qualifying the prelims exam are called for the mains exam. However, the marks of the prelims exam are not counted for the final merit list. Candidates qualifying the prelims exam are called for the mains exam.

SBI PO exam pattern is such that it is divided into prelims, Mains, psychometric test, group exercises and interview. In 2022, SBI has revised the exam pattern. The psychometric test was introduced in the Phase 3 exam pattern. There is no weightage for this test and the performance of candidates in this stage will be shared with the interview panel. SBI PO prelims exam comprises three sections-Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and English Language. The total marks allotted to the prelims exam are 100. The test paper carries a total of 100 questions. Candidates qualifying the prelims exam are called for the mains exam. The mains exam comprises both objective and subjective-type tests. The total marks allotted to the mains exam are 250. Candidates qualifying the mains exam are called for psychometric test. The psychometric test is qualifying in nature. Candidates qualifying the psychometric test are called for group exercises and interview. The group exercises and interview carries 50 marks.

SBI PO marking scheme is prescribed by the examination authority. The scores of candidates are calculated as per the marking scheme. SBI PO marking scheme is given below:

• For incorrect answers, one-fourth of marks assigned to a particular question in the objective test are deducted as penalty to arrive at the corrected scores
• There is no negative marking for the subjective part of the Mains exam
• If a question is left blank, there will be no penalty for that question

 

The minimum marks to crack SBI PO exam isn't disclosed yet by the governing committee. It depends on the level of competition and the number of vacancies they have. Based on these, after the examination is over, the committee decides the cut-off level and sends notifications to the qualifying candidates informing them of further procedures. The probationary officers working in SBI enjoys a good salary package. The salary of those working in the private sector banks in the same position are offered less salary. The initial basic SBI PO salary is INR 41,960 (with four advanced increments). This means PO gets a basic of INR 36000 with an increment of INR 1490 for the next seven years, followed by a basic of INR 46430 with an annual increment of INR 1740 for the next two years, and so on. The maximum basic salary will be INR 63840. The pay scale of a Probationary Officer/ Management Trainee is INR 36000-1490/7-46430-1740/2-49910-1990/7-63840. SBI PO salary is inclusive of multiple benefits and allowances that every employee is liable to get.

It is not necessary to secure 60 per cent in graduation inorder to be eligible for SBI PO exam. For the SBI PO eligibility percentage, candidates with less than 60% in their graduation are also eligible to take the SBI PO exam. The State Bank of India prescribes no minimum percentage in Graduation for the SBI Probationary Officer (PO) exam. Candidates must be graduates of any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the final year/semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination.

To be eligible for SBI PO exam, candidates must be a graduate. Those who have only passed Class 12 are not eligible to apply for the exam. The age limit for SBI PO exam is  21 and 30 years. Candidates must check the eligibility before applying for SBI PO exam.

On joining, the selected candidates will be designated as Probationary Officers and may be on probation for two years. Candidates who have already appeared for the maximum number of permissible chances. The number of chances is counted as per the exam date. Appearing in Preliminary Examination is not counted as a chance. Appearing in Main Examination is counted as a chance. In the years in which only one written examination has been held (i.e. no Preliminary Examination has been held),  appearing in this examination is counted as a chance.

An Indian citizen who has graduated from any recognised university can apply for the SBI PO exam. However, he or she will have to fulfill other requirements as well, which are as follows: 1. If the person is in their final year of graduation, then he or she will be required to provide a passing Certificate during the interview process. 2.
