SSC CGL Tier 1 result 2023 has been released online. The Staff Selection Commission selected 81,752 candidates for the SSC CGL Tier 2 main exam. The Commission also released the SSC CGL Cutoff 2023 with the result which remained high as anticipated. The Commission released separate SSC CGL 2023 result PDFs each for the SSC CGL Post Group. The Commission mentioned the number of candidates (under each category) selected for each SSC CGL Post. The Commission will call the qualified candidates for the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam which will be conducted from October 25 to 27. The SSC CGL 2023 result has been released online only at ssc.nic.in.

Meanwhile, news came that from next year the Tier 1 exam for all the Group B and C posts will be conducted by the National Recruitment Agency (NRA). This exam will be called as NRA CET exam. CET stands for Common Eligibility Test (CET). The candidates who met all the result guidelines will be declared eligible to appear in the Tier 2 exam. The NRA is yet to issue notification for the same and all the details for such examination will be released in its official notification.

What is SSC CGL?

SSC CGL is a national-level exam conducted by the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) to shortlist candidates for Group-B and Group-C posts in various ministries/departments/organizations of the Government of India. Q:   SSC CGL exam is conducted in how many parts?

A:

SSC CGL 2023 exam will be conducted in two stages only. The candidates need to clear both stages to get appointed. Staff Selection Commission (SSC) revised the exam pattern of the SSC CGL to expedite the recruitment procedure. The DEST is merged with the Tier 2 exam and the descriptive Tier 3 is not there in the exam process. It is not clear whether this is a temporary or permanent change in the SSC CGL exam pattern.

Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks in the SSC CGL tier-I exam. The SSC CGL Tier 2 also has a negative marking. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. Q:   When was the SSC CGL 2023 Syllabus notified?

A:

The SSC CGL Syllabus 2023 was notified in the official notification released online on April 3. The candidates can see and should internalise the syllabus for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 exam so that they can score better in the exam. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2023 was conducted from July 14 to 27 based on the syllabus mentioned in the official notification. Last year the Commission do away with the Tier 3 and Tier-4 of the exam.

Now the Commission will conduct only two tiers of exams. Document verification will be done at the concerned department. The Commission added General Awareness and Computer knowledge in the SSC CGL Tier 2 syllabus, making it more difficult to score. Moreover, the number of papers are also reduced from four to three. No more changes are expected in the SSC CGL 2023 Syllabus.

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will prescribe the SSC CGL syllabus 2023 in the official notification. SSC CGL 2023 syllabus was notified in the official notification released on April 3. The Commission mentioned all the topics in the official notification but the Commission do not mention the weightage to the topics. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2023 was conducted from July 14 to 27 based on the syllabus mentioned in the official notification.  Recently, SSC has changed the entire SSC CGL syllabus and made the exam from four tiers to two tiers.

SSC CGL Cut-Off 2023

The Commission will release the SSC CGL Cutoff 2023 with the result. It is expected to be released in August 2023. The Commission conducted the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2023 from July 14 to 27. The candidates will be required to breach the cutoff to get selected in the exam.

Staff Selection Commission released the SSC CGL 2023 Tier 1 result pdf on September 19. The Commission released the SSC CGL Cutoff for all the categories and Post groups with the result. SSC CGL Selection Process 2023

SSC CGL selection process includes the following stages/tiers:

  • Application process: Candidates need to fill out the application form online on the official website of the commission in a specified manner. The application fee is INR 100.
  • Tier 1 application status - The regional websites of SSC releases the application status of the candidates, mentioning the acceptance or rejection of the application. It will also inform about the exam date of the candidate.
  • Tier 1 admit cards: SSC regional websites release the admit for the CGL Tier-I exam four days before the exam day. The candidates need to download their admit cards from these regional SSC websites in a specified manner.
  • Tier 1 exam: Tier-I is a Computer-Based Exam (CBE) that contains objective-type Multiple-Choice Questions (MCQs) of 200 marks. 
  • Tier 1 Answer Key - SSC releases the tentative answer within ten days of the completion of the exam. The Commission asks the candidates to raise objections against the incorrect questions/answers given in the official answer key.
  • Tier 1 result: The result is declared by SSC on its official website within 45 days of the exam. The result contains the names and/or roll numbers of candidates qualifying for the Tier-II exam. 
  • Tier 2 admit card: Eligible candidates need to download their admit cards for the Tier-II exam from the official regional websites. The admit card is typically released about one week before the exam. 
  • Tier 2 exam: Tier II is again a CBE that is divided into three papers.
  • SSC CGL result: Final result is announced based on candidates' performance in tier-I and tier-II exams. All qualifying candidates are then allotted Group B and C posts in various ministries/departments/organisations of the Government of India. 

SSC CGL Document Verification 2023

The Commission has changed the Document Verification (DV) process in the year 2022. Now, the DV will be conducted at the concerned department of appointment instead of the regional headquarters of the SSC.

Yes, the candidates need to appear for all the tiers of the SSC CGL to qualify the exam. It is essential to appear and clear all the tiers of the SSC CGL exam. The candidates must score marks equal to or more than the SSC CGL cutoff to clear the exam. There are only two tiers in the SSC CGL exam and the candidates are required to appear and clear both tiers separately as well as combined. The Commission added the marks scored in both tiers while releasing the SSC CGL Tier 2 result.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in the SSC CGL exam?

A:
Yes, there is a negative marking of 0.50 marks in the SSC CGL tier-I exam. The SSC CGL Tier 2 also has a negative marking. The quantum of negative marking is one-fourth of the marks assigned for the correct answer. The mark assigned for the correct answer is 2 marks and the negative marking is 0.5 marks. No marks will be deducted for unattempted questions. The candidates should avoid the guesswork in the exam because the negative marking rapidly pulls the overall score down in case of incorrect answers.

Q:   What are the minimum eligibility criteria to apply for the SSC CGL exam?

There are three main components of the SSC CGL eligibility. These are Nationality Educational Qualification Age limit. All the posts in the SSC CGL exam are open to the Citizens of India. To apply for the SSC CGL exam, the candidate must be a Graduate of a recognised university or institution. Apart from the citizenship and educational qualification, the candidates are required to fulfil the age limit and nationality criteria to appear in the exam.

Q:   How many times is SSC CGL conducted in a year?

Each stage (tier-I, II) of the SSC CGL exam is conducted once a year. The year 2022 was the exception because SSC CGL Tier 1 exam was conducted twice in a calendar year.
