SSC Stenographer 2025: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) released SSC Stenographer notification on June 6, 2025. SSC Stenographer 2025 notification was scheduled to be released on June 5, 2025.  SSC Stenographer application form is available from June 6 to 26, 2025. A total of 261 vacancies have been announced for SSC Steno exam. Candidates who have completed Class 12 or equivalent can apply for the exam. The age limit prescribed for Stenographer Grade C is 18 to 30 years, whereas it is 18 to 27 years for Grade D. 

SSC Stenographer exam dates have been announced. The exam of SSC Stenographer 2025 will be conducted from August 6 to 11, 2025.  SSC Steno exam pattern for CBT includes sections such as General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language & Comprehension. The skill test includes dictation and typing. 

SSC conducts an open, competitive computer-based exam for recruitment to the posts of SSC Stenographer Grade C (Group ‘B’, Non-Gazetted) and Stenographer Grade D (Group C) for various ministries/departments/organizations in the government of India. Q:   What is the selection process of SSC Stenographer?

The complete selection process of SSC Stenographer is explained below:

Release of application form: SSC Stenographer application form is released online. The application fee is INR 100, Women and Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), Persons with disability (PwD) and Ex-servicemen (ESM) candidates are exempted from fee payment.

Issue of admit card: SSC Stenographer admit card is released online on the respective regional websites of the commission. Candidates can access their admit cards by logging with registration ID/roll number/candidate’s name and password. 

Computer-Based Test: This is the first stage of SSC Stenographer Grade C & D. The computer-based test is conducted for all candidates who successfully register for the exam. The exam comprises three sections, General Intelligence & Reasoning, General Awareness, and English Language and Comprehension. The total marks for the test are 200.

Declaration of result: SSC Stenographer result is declared online for different stages of exams. The result is made available in PDF format. It displays the roll numbers of qualified candidates. Along with the result, SSC Stenographer cut off marks for various posts and categories are also released. 

Skill Test in Stenography: This stage is conducted for the shortlisted candidates of the computer-based test. Candidates are given one dictation for 10 minutes in English or Hindi. Candidates need to type the dictation at the speed of 100 words per minute for the post of Stenographer Grade C and 80 w.p.m for the post of Grade D.

SSC Stenographer registration process has started.  The application fee can be paid online only. SSC Stenographer online form can be filled in two parts: Part-I (One-Time Registration) and Part-II (Filling the application form). The application fees of SSC Stenographer are INR 100 for General and OBC candidates. SC, ST, women, and ESM candidates are exempted from fee payment.

SSC Stenographer Eligibility 

Candidates need to fulfil the following eligibility criteria:

Nationality 

Candidates must be either

(I) Citizen of India or

(II) A subject of Nepal or 

(III) Citizen of Bhutan or 

(IV) Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of settling in India or

(V) Indian origin person who has migrated from Pakistan, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (Formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. 

Provided that a candidate belonging to categories II,III, IV and V in whose favour a certificate of eligibility is issued by the Indian Government.

SSC Stenographer Admit Card 2025

SSC Stenographer hall ticket for CBT will be released four days before the exam. The admit card is made available on the official website. To download SSC Stenographer admit card, candidates need to enter registration ID/roll number/candidate's name and date of birth. The  admit card is an important document without which candidates are not allowed to appear for the exam. 

SSC Stenographer Exam Day Guidelines

A few important guidelines for the exam are given below:

  1. Candidates need to carry Aadhaar Card, Passport, Driving License, PAN Card, Voter’s ID Card along with the admit card
  2. Electronic items like mobile phones, calculator, pagers, etc are not allowed inside the exam centre
  3. Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre one hour early to complete the verification process
  4. Candidates will not be allowed to leave the exam hall till the completion of test

The steps to download SSC Stenographer admit card are given below:

  • Visit the official website of SSC
  • Select the admit card tab on the home page of SSC
  • Clicking the tab, candidates are redirected to the page that hosts the links of respective regional websites
  • Select the region from where candidates have filled the SSC Stenographer application form
  • On the admit card login page, candidates need to enter registration ID/roll number/candidate’s name and password
  • SSC Stenographer admit card appears on the screen
  • Download the admit card and take its printout
Q:   Is there any hard copy of the admit card for SSC Stenographer exam sent to the candidates?

The hard copy of SSC Stenographer admit card is not sent to candidates by post. The admit card can be downloaded online only. To download the admit card, candidates need to enter the required credentials.
