Q:   What is the difficulty level of CMAT exam?

A:
CMAT is one of the easier MBA entrance exams. Despite having an extra section, the overall difficulty level of CMAT exam is generally moderate. However, it has been seen previously that some questions in Logical Reasoning and General Awareness sections of CMAT turn out to be more difficult than questions of Quantitative Techniques, Language Comprehension and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. If a candidate can solve about 70-75 of the total questions with about 80 per cent accuracy in each section, they can score well in CMAT. The sectional difficulty in CMAT is as follows: 1. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation: Moderate 2. Logical Reasoning: Easy to Moderate 3. Language Comprehension: Easy to Moderate 4. General Awareness: Moderate 5. Innovation & Entrepreneurship: Moderate For the latest exam pattern and difficulty level of CMAT click here: https://www.shiksha.com/mba/cmat-exam-analysis.

Q:   Which is the lengthiest section in CMAT?

A:
Since the Language Comprehension section of CMAT includes reading comprehension passages, it can be considered a lengthy section. However, there is a possibility of any other section to be lengthier. For example, Logical Reasoning questions or Data Interpretation questions can also be lengthy, due to multiple levels of calculations. The weightage of each section is same in CMAT I. e. 20 questions and 80 marks, so it doesn't really matter which section is lengthy as candidates have to meet sectional cut offs to be able to get a good overall score. It is not mandatory to solve all 100 questions in CMAT so candidates have the choice of dropping lengthy questions and solving easier questions. So, the best option is to skip the lengthy questions and solve other questions correctly. Doing so will ensure that the candidate doesn't fall short of time as well as good questions to solve.

Q:   How can I prepare for CMAT to secure 100 percentile?

A:

Common Management Admission Test is an online computer based test conducted by the National Testing Agency, India. It is a national-level admission test for facilitating institutions to select suitable students for admission in all management programmes approved by AICTE. According to the exam pattern, the CMAT syllabus for MBA admission is divided into five sections namely, Quantitative Technique and Data Interpretation, Language Comprehension, Logical Reasoning, General Awareness, and Innovation and Entrepreneurship. If you plan to prepare for CMAT exam, then you have to at least put in four to six hours daily into studying. 345 to 350 marks are expected to secure the 100 percentile and those securing in the range of 285 to 340 marks will obtain 99 to 99.99 percentile. CMAT merit list will include names of all the aspirants scoring CMAT score vs percentile from 0.005 to 100 percentile. Speed is not an issue at all as you have ample time available. Solving 100 questions in 3 hours is quite easy; hence time is not as important as accuracy is. I have slept for 20 to 40 minutes after completing test every year! The range of topics covered has become very important.

Q:   Is there any negative marking in CMAT?

A:
Yes, there is negative marking in CMAT exam. For each wrong answer, 1 mark will be deducted. For example, if a candidate attempts 18 questions from Logical Reasoning and gets 15 questions correct but 3 questions incorrect. Then the candidate's score for this section will be 15x4-3, i.e. 57. However, no marks will be deducted for unanswered questions. Thus, candidates must choose only those questions to solve which they are sure of solving accurately. It is anyway not possible to solve all 100 questions, so candidates must weigh their options viz. Strength and weak areas and then choose questions carefully. If candidates are not sure of answering a question correctly or it is taking too much time, then they should leave that questions and move to next as they also need to keep a tab on the time limit.

CMAT syllabus is similar to other MBA entrance exams. It includes Verbal Ability, Reading Comprehension, Data Interpretation, Logical Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude and General Knowledge. CMAT has an additional subject called Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

Candidates must start CMAT preparation 2024 by starting with the tougher topics first. Once they are thorough with the tough topics they should move to easier topics. However, the key is to keep a balance between tough and easy topics in such a way that easy subjects don't get sidelined for tough ones. The main focus however, should be on CMAT topics from which maximum questions are asked.

To have a complete control, you need to constantly revise the topics and processes that you've been studying for solving various types of questions. Thus, keep aside an hour every day for revision of topics that you study on a particular day. Q:   Can I prepare for CMAT in 6 months?

A:

Yes, 6 months are a decent time duration to prepare for CMAT exam, if one does it with dedication and discipline. Candidates who have appeared for CMAT or any other MBA entrance exam before, will find 6 months more than enough to prepare for the exam. Those, who are appearing in CMAT for the first time, can also prepare in 6 months but they will have to give extra time to it. If you plan a CMAT preparation in six months, make a three stage plan. In the first stage, which will be of 3 months, complete the CMAT syllabus, in the second phase, which will be of 2 months, practice sample papers and mock tests. In the third stage, which will be of 1 months, do revision of important topics and gain control over all that you have studied before. Keep in mind to solve enough number of CMAT mock tests (30-35) for better preparation in short time. Read More: CMAT preparation in 6 months

Q:   How many mock tests to attempt to score 99 percentile in CMAT?

A:
There is no particular number of CMAT mock test that you should target to solve during your preparation phase but on an average it has been seen that about 30-40 CMAT mock tests are good enough to score 99 percentile. Candidates must start solving CMAT mock tests after completing the syllabus as it will help them gauge which are the topics that they have understood well and which are the topics that require more work. 30-34 CMAT mock tests are recommended as, CMAT exam is all about speed and accuracy. The more questions you'll solve in an exam environment, the better you'll get at understanding, choosing and solving questions faster and correctly. Important point to note about practicing CMAT mock test is that one should analyse every mock test to understand the gaps and fissures and what to do to fill them. Another aspect to keep in mind is not to overdo it. When you start to score 98-99 percentile in CMAT mock tests consistently then you should stop and focus on revision, etc.

A:
The preliminary CMAT answer key is the PDF released within 3-4 days of the exam. It contains candidate details such as their name, roll number, exam date and exam slot. The main content of the preliminary CMAT answer key are question, correct option, candidate's response to each question and status of the answer. The preliminary CMAT answer key helps candidates in assessing their performance and calculating their score. Final CMAT answer key is a PDF document released along with the result having revised answer keys for the CMAT. If contains answer options to the questions, after verification as per the objections raised by candidates. The final CMAT answer key is the basis of result preparation. The final answer key cannot be challenged unlike the preliminary answer key. While the preliminary CMAT answer key is to be released mandatory, final answer key is released only when a candidate's objection is accepted and the preliminary answer key is revised.

Q:   What is the benefit of CMAT answer key and response sheet?

A:
After the candidate has appeared for the CMAT exam, they would be eager to know what was their performance like and how much marks will they score. Also, the candidate deserves to know what are the correct answers of the questions they solved with so much effort, as their career depends on it. Thus, it is important for them to SEE the official answer key and their own responses. With the help of official CMAT answer key and response sheet, the candidate can calculate their exam score which will give them an idea of how much percentile will they actually get. This in turn will help them in making decisions related to MBA Admission like which colleges to apply to, whether to reappear for CMAT or whether to opt of remaining entrance exams for the current session. Q:   How to calculate CMAT percentile?

A:
Since CMAT is usually conducted in two shifts, there are chances of the question paper of one shift being slightly tougher or easier in comparison to the question paper of other shift. In order to negate the possibility of any candidate having an advantage or disadvantage due to this, the exam authorities normalise the CMAT scores before percentile calculation. Once that is done, the authorities use the normalised score for percentile score calculation. CMAT percentile is basically a rank of a candidate vs the total number of candidates who appeared in the exam. Given below is the formula for calculating CMAT percentile prescribed by NTA: Formula to Calculate CMAT Percentile: If 10,000 candidates appeared in CMAT and only 1 candidate scored the highest marks (365/400). Since they have scored the highest in exam, their rank will be 1 and CMAT percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99.

Q:   When will CMAT result 2024 be released?

A:

CMAT result 2024 will be declared by the National Testing Agency NTA most likely in the last week of May. The NTA does not announce the CMAT result date beforehand. However, going by the past year trends and the exam schedule of CMAT 2023 one can expect the release of CMAT 2024 scorecard by the end of May 2014. The CMAT 2024 answer key challenge window will open for two to three days for candidates to challenge the official answer key. Once all the answer key objections are received, they will be examined. In case of any objection is found to be valid, the answer key will be prescribed and the result will be prepared after that. The exact CMAT 2024 result date if announced by the NTA will be shared at Shiksha. Com.

Q:   What is a good score in CMAT for admission to top MBA colleges?

A:

Ideally, one would say that 99-100 percentile is good for MBA Admission. However, it is not possible for all candidates to score so high. So, what shall be considered a good score in CMAT. A good CMAT score is basically a score that will get you a seat in your desired college. So, if you desire a Tier 1 college, a good score in CMAT will be 85 percentile and above. If you desire a Tier 2 college, a good score in CMAT will be 70-85 percentile and for a Tier 3 college, less than 70 percentile in CMAT will be good. Now, if you want to understand CMAT. Score in terms of percentile, so that while giving the exam you know how much raw score is needed to get the required percentile for the desired college, you need to know how much CMAT score is equal to percentile. About 340-350 score is equal to 100 percentile in CMAT About 281-340 score is equal to 90-99.99 percentile in CMAT About 201-280 score is equal to 81-89 percentile in CMAT About 171-200 score is equal to 71-80 percentile in CMAT About 140-171 score is equal to 61-70 percentile in CMAT About 116-140 score is equal to 51-60 percentile in CMAT.

Q:   Which are the top colleges for MBA with CMAT score of 80 to 85 percentile?

A:
If you score between 80 to 85 percentile CMAT you need not worry about admission. There are a large number of MBA colleges that accept candidates with CMAT score in the range of 80 to 85 percentile. A number of government as well as private institutes with good infrastructure and placements are within your reach. Some of those popular colleges include, Welingkar Institute of Management-Mumbai, Welingkar Institute of Management-Bangalore, Indian Institute of Information Technology & Management, IFIM-Bangalore, IFMR- Chennai, NIBM-Pune, NL Dalmiya Institute of Management, IMT Hyderabad, IMT Nagpur, XISS Ranchi, ITM Navi Mumbai, Jaipuria Institute of Management Noida, Xavier Business School-Xavier University, Great Lakes Institute of Management-Gurgaon, BIMTECH-Greater Noida, XIME-Bangalore, ISBM-Pune, Jaipuria Institute of Management Lucknow, KIIT School of Management, IPE Hyderabad, SIES College of Management Studies-Navi Mumbai and Chetana Institute of Management and Research-Mumbai among others.

Q:   Am I eligible to get admission in PGDM marketing with 66 percentile in CMAT exam (general category)?

A:
Your chances of admission to a PGDM program in marketing will depend on several factors, including the specific program and its admission criteria, as well as the number of applicants and the competition for admission. A percentile of 66 in CMAT exam in the general category is a decent score, but it may not guarantee admission to the top-ranked institutes. However, there are many good PGDM programs in marketing that you may be eligible for. To get a better idea of your chances of admission, you should check the admission criteria of the PGDM programs you are interested in. Many institutes also consider factors such as academic background, work experience, extracurricular activities, and performance in the personal interview and group discussion rounds. In addition to your CMAT percentile, you should also focus on building a strong application that highlights your strengths and achievements. This could include showcasing your academic performance, highlighting your work experience and leadership skills, and demonstrating your interest in the field of marketing. Overall, while a percentile of 66 in CMAT exam in the general category is a good score, admission to PGDM programs in marketing is competitive, and there is no guarantee of admission. It's important to research different programs, prepare a strong application, and have realistic expectations about your chances of admission.

CMAT Admission Process 2024

The NTA has no role in MBA admission through CMAT. The participating institutes conduct admission independently and according to their academic cycle. Most of the B-Schools conduct Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) to select candidates for MBA/PGDM programmes post the declaration of CMAT exam result. At many institutes, Essay Writing is conducted instead of Group Discussion. Candidates must fill the admission forms before the deadline to be eligible for selection process of that institute. MBA admission through CMAT includes three main processes:

  • Shortlisting of candidates based on CMAT score 2024
  • Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds (conducted individually by institutes)
  • Final selection for MBA batch of 2024-26

Q:   Is there any difference between the CMAT score and percentile?

A:
Yes, the Common Management Admission Test score is the total marks one has scored in the exam (sum total of marks scored in the five sections basis correct and incorrect attempts), whereas the Common Management Admission Test percentile is the rank of an applicant compared to all other test takers. Common Management Admission Test Percentile Calculation: Percentile P = 100 x Number of students who appeared in the examination with raw marks equal to or less than the candidate/Total number of candidates who appeared. For example, suppose 10,000 students appeared in the Common Management Admission Test exam. And student A has got the Number 1 Rank. His Common Management Admission Test percentile score will be: 100 x 9999/10,000= 99.99 You can also calculate the rank with the below-given formula: Percentile (P)= 10,000 1 (rank)/10,000 x 100= 99.99. Common Management Admission Test Score Calculation: 1- For each correct answer, 4 marks will be allotted. 2- For each incorrect answer, a 1 mark will be deducted. 3- There is no negative marking for unanswered questions. 4- The total score will be calculated by totaling marks gained or lost in each question. 5- The Common Management Admission Test question paper carries 100 questions, equally divided into four sections. Total marks allotted in 400. For more information, you may visit the Shiksha Common Management Admission Test exam page. (https://www.shiksha.com/mba/cmat-exam). I hope this will help you.

Q:   Can I get colleges like SIES, PUMBA, Welingkar-Bangalore, XIMR, IES, Chetna, NL Dalmia with 88.16 in CMAT in CAP round 1or 2 (OBC category)?

A:
With a CMAT score of 88.16 percentile and belonging to the OBC category, you may have a chance to get admission in some of the colleges you have mentioned in the CAP (Centralized Admission Process) rounds. However, admission to these colleges also depends on other factors such as the number of seats available, the number of applicants, and the cutoff set by each college. Based on the cutoffs of the previous years, you may have a chance to get admission in colleges like SIES, NL Dalmia, IES and Chetna in the CAP rounds, especially in the second or third round. However, admission to PUMBA and XIMR may be competitive, and you may need to have a higher percentile score to secure admission in these colleges. It is important to note that the cutoffs may vary each year, and you should check the official website of each institute or contact them directly to get the latest information on the admission process and cutoffs. Additionally, you can also consider applying to other colleges that accept CMAT scores and fit your budget and location preference.

Q:   What CMAT score is required to get admission for MBA in The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda?

A:
MSU Badodara is a good investment for MBA . The cutt off trend in MSU is CMAT percentile of 80-90( sore of 150 and above). The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU Baroda) accepts the Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) score for admission to its MBA program. The cutoff score for admission to MSU Baroda's MBA program through CMAT is not fixed and can vary from year to year depending on various factors such as the number of applicants, the difficulty level of the exam, and the availability of seats. However, based on previous years' cutoffs, a CMAT score of around 200-220 out of 400 can be considered a good score for admission to MSU Baroda's MBA program. Please note that this is just an estimate, and the actual cutoff may vary depending on the factors mentioned above. It is always best to check the official website of MSU Baroda or contact the university's admission office to get the latest and accurate information on the CMAT cutoff score for admission to their MBA program.

Q:   I have scored 156 in CMAT. Can I get admission in FMS Vadodara?

A:
The admission process for FMS Vadodara is conducted by the Gujarat Technological University (GTU). The selection of candidates is based on their CMAT score, academic performance, and other eligibility criteria set by the institute. As per your CMAT score of 156, you may have a chance to get admission to FMS Vadodara. However, the cutoff for admission to FMS Vadodara may vary every year, based on the number of candidates who have applied and their CMAT scores. It is advisable to keep track of the official admission notifications and check with the institute for more information on the admission process and cutoff for the current academic year. Also, note that the final admission decision depends on various factors such as the availability of seats, the number of applicants, and the cutoff for the current academic year. So, you should also apply to other colleges where you meet the eligibility criteria and have a good chance of getting admission.

A:
CMAT 2023 exam date was May 4, 2023. The exam was held in two shifts - 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM. The NTA announced the admit card download dates on May 1. The CMAT exam was of moderate difficulty level and question papers o of both the shifts did not see any surprise question. MAT has been traditionally conducted in the Month of January but over the years, it has been seen that the NTA pushes CMAT exam date by a month. For example, it was conducted in January in 2019, then February in 2020, then March in 2021, then April in 2022. While in 2021 it was conducted on March 31, in 2022 it was conducted on April 9, 2022.
