NEET 2022 counselling: NEET UG counselling 2022 Mop-up round final result has been declared on December 8. As many as 5,182 candidates have been allotted MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing seats. The provisional result was declared on December 7. There has been no change in the number of seat allotments in the final result. The institute reporting process has commenced at 3 pm on December 8 and the last date of reporting is December 12. The result of the NEET UG counselling stray vacancy round will be declared on December 16.

The NEET UG counselling mop-up round registration, choice filling and locking processes concluded on December 2. The registration process began on November 28 and the choice filling round started on November 29. The choice locking process was conducted on December 2, from 3 PM to 11.55 PM. On November 29, MCC released a list of 5,931 vacant seats for this round, based on which candidates will have to fill and lock their seat choices. Out of this, one of the MBBS seats from the paid quota, at KS Hegde Medical Academy has been withdrawn.  MCC has also released a list of 191 candidates whose nationality has been provisionally converted to NRI.

NEET UG Counselling 2022: MCC Releases NRI Converted Candidate List for Mop-up Round

MCC revised the mop-up round counselling dates on November 23, as per which instead of November 23, the registration process started five days later.  Candidates who wished to convert their nationality from Indian to NRI could do so by sending the requisite documents to MCC via email between November 25 and November 27. MCC also released the list of candidates who have joined medical institutes after the first two rounds of counselling. As many as 18,856 candidates have joined the AIQ, Deemed and Central Universities offering MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing courses.

The institute reporting process for Round 2 began on November 15 and the last date to report to institutes for document verification is November 22. NEET counselling 2022 Round 2 final result was declared on November 15. As many as 28,683 candidates were allotted seats in the second round. The provisional result was declared on November 14. In case of any discrepancy, candidates had to send email to MCC by November 15, 10 AM. The number of candidates allotted seats in the provisional result was the same as that of the final result.

NEET UG counselling 2022 Round 2 registration process for the second phase concluded on November 13. It was reopened by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) on November 11, 1 PM onwards. The registration fee had to be paid till 12 noon of November 13. The choice filling and locking rounds also concluded on November 13. Announcing the reopening of the NEET UG counselling 2022 Round 2 dates, MCC stated, “In view of decision passed by Hon’ble High Court of Madras in, 28373 of 2022 and many representations being received to extend the schedule of UG Round-2 the competent authority has decided to extend the UG Counselling 2022.”

The MCC NEET UG Counselling Registration process is followed by choice filling and locking, fee payment, seat processing, result announcement, and reporting. There will be four rounds of counselling, Round 1, Round 2, Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round for NEET 2022 counselling. The counselling of NEET 2022 will be conducted in online mode, except for the institute reporting process, which has to be done by physically visiting the institutes. 

Candidates must note the role of NTA ends with the declaration of NEET 2022 result. The exam conducting authority will hand over the NEET result data to the NEET counselling authorities. The counselling for NEET 2022 is held separately for the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats and 85 per cent State Quota seats. While the former is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), the latter is conducted by the State Medical Admission Authorities for the MBBS, BDS and BSc Nursing courses. The MCC NEET UG counselling 2022, for the academic year 2022-23 is likely to be conducted in four rounds and additional rounds will be announced depending on the seat vacancy status. Last year onwards, an additional round was added, which was Stray Vacancy round. While candidates are allowed to register for the first two rounds, no registration process will be available for the Mop-up Round and Stray Vacancy Round.

How to Register for NEET UG Counselling

Now we bring the most important aspects of MCC NEET UG counselling, which is the registration process. Follow the steps given below to register.

  • Click on the ‘New Registration Round 2’ tab

  • Select the ‘New Candidate Registration’ tab

  • Read the instructions and click on 'I Agree' check box

  • Enter the mandatory details such as NEET UG roll number, NEET UG application number, mother’s name, date of birth and security pin

  • Click on 'Submit'

  • The credentials will be generated and sent to the registered email address

  • Complete the registration form by entering personal, educational, NEET 2022 result and other details and uploading of scanned photograph and signature

  • Pay the registration fee and take a print out of the registration confirmation page

State Counselling for NEET UG 2022: For State Quota Seats

As mentioned earlier, NEET counselling for 15 per cent AIQ quota seats is conducted by MCC. The remaining 85 per cent of seats will be filled through the state counselling for NEET UG 2022 process of the respective state. Admission to private colleges in a state will also be through the counselling of that respective state. However, admission to the colleges in Jammu & Kashmir, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana will be done solely on the basis of state counselling for NEET UG 2022.

NEET 2022 Counselling Eligibility Criteria

To participate in the NEET 2022 counselling process, candidates must fulfil the following eligibility requirements:

  • They must qualify for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
  • They must be registered on the official website of MCC
  • All candidates, including candidates from the UT of J&K, can participate in the counselling for AIQ seats and deemed universities

Eligibility Criteria for Central Universities 

The following table mentions the eligibility criteria for the Central Universities and the seat scheme.

Central Universities Seat Scheme Eligibility Criteria
Delhi University (MAMC, LHMC, UCMS) 15% of seats of the colleges affiliated with the Delhi University Candidates who have passed Class 11 and Class 12 from an institute located in Delhi will be able to apply for these 85% seats
Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia The institute offers 50 BDS seats, out of which 47 seats will be filled through the MCC NEET counselling. The remaining three seats fall under the institutional quota. The institutional quota seats will be allotted to only those candidates who have passed Class 11 and Class 12 from JMI institutes
Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) The institute reserves 50 per cent of its seats. The remaining 50 per cent will be filled through the MCC counselling of NEET. Candidates who have studied in AMU for the past three years can opt for institutional quota.
Banaras Hindu University (BHU) 15% seats  All candidates who fulfil the basic eligibility criteria for NEET MCC counselling can apply for the seats at BHU. There is no special requirement for applying to this institute. 

Reservation of AIQ Seats in NEET 2022

The Government of India has implemented 27 per cent OBC reservation (Non-Creamy Layer) and 10 per cent EWS reservation in 15 per cent Under Graduate (UG) All India Quota seats (MBBS/BDS) (contributed by the State/UTs to the Central Pool) in the selection of candidates through NEET UG counselling for MBBS. This reservation took effect from the current Academic session 2021-22.

NEET 2022 Counselling Process

Candidates who will qualify for NEET 2022 and wish to participate in the counselling process for the AIQ seats in Deemed Universities/ Central Universities/ ESIC colleges have to register online on the official website of MCC. The process of NEET 2022 counselling has been explained in detail below:

Choice filling

  • After completing the registration process, candidates need to fill in the choices by logging into the registered account on the MCC portal
  • They need to choose the course/ college in the desired order of preference
  • They can fill in any number of choices from the list provided
  • Candidates can add/delete a choice
  • They can also move up/ move down a choice as per their preference
  • After filling in the choices, they must save a copy of the choices filled for future reference

Seat allotment list

  • Based on the AIR obtained in NEET 2022 and the choices filled in the registration form, a seat allocation list will be prepared
  • The seat allocation list will be uploaded online on the official website of MCC

Reporting to the college allotted

Candidates who will be allocated seats in counselling of NEET 2022 will have to report to the allocated institutes for verification of documents and confirmation of the seat. If any candidate accepts the seat that has been allocated to them but fails to report to the allocated institute before the given deadline, their candidature will be cancelled.

Documents Required for NEET Counselling 2022

Candidates reporting to the allocated institute for confirmation of the seat must carry the following documents with them:

  • NEET admit card 2022
  • NEET result 2022 or rank letter
  • Class 10 mark sheet and certificate
  • Class 12 mark sheet and certificate
  • Valid, non-expired and government-issued photo ID proof
  • Six to eight passport-sized photographs (preferably the same as the one submitted with the NEET 2022 application form)
  • Caste Certificate (if applicable)
  • Disability Certificate (if applicable)
  • Provisional allotment letter

The seats left vacant after the first round will be carried forward to the second round. However, the seats left vacant after the second round of NEET counselling 2022 will be transferred to the respective state quota. The seats left vacant in the AIQ quota of Deemed Universities/ Central Universities/ ESIC colleges will be filled through a mop-up round of NEET 2022 counselling. Yes, you can do choice filling in round 2 of NEET UG counselling. MCC regulations state that you do not have to re-register if you already registered for Round 1. For NEET UG Counseling 2022, the round 2 choice filling and locking process is currently in progress.
