NEET Result 2025: Release Date (June 14), Check Qualifying Cutoff Marks & Merit List

The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced that the NEET 2025 result will be declared on June 14, 2025. However, the actual date may vary. Last year, the date of NEET result declaration was June 14, but the result was announced 10 days in advance, on June 4, 2024. 

NTA announces the NEET result or scorecard download information on the official exam website. Various media portals and social media platforms also announce the declaration of results. Test takers are advised to keep a check on the official websites as well as opt for notifications or alerts at the news and social media platforms to get instantly notified about the declaration of NEET result. Moreover, they also get the NEET result information from their teachers or peers. 

The NEET 2025 exam was conducted on May 4, 2025, from 2 PM to 5 PM. NTA announced the exam date through an official notice along with the application form on February 7, 2025. 

Yes, you will still be able to download the result of NEET by logging in to the official exam website. The scorecard will consist of information such as subject-wise and overall scores, percentiles and All India Rank, along with the qualifying cutoff or marks. In case a candidate does not qualify for NEET then he/she would not be able to participate in the counselling process. However, they may take admission to other courses conducting admission through NEET scores, for which counselling process is not conducted.

No, NTA does not send the NEET scorecards by post to any candidate. The scorecard has to be downloaded online from the official website of NTA NEET or sent by NTA through email. Candidates must take multiple copies of printout and preserve those till the admission process is complete. It is one of the most crucial documents required for the counselling or the admission process. In case candidates lose the soft copy, they can download the NEET scorecard from the NEET website archive section or the DigiLocker or Sandes portal of the Government of India.

Candidates must preserve the scorecard till the conclusion of their admission process.

Since the NEET scorecards are released by the National Testing Agency (NTA), the exam conducting body, in an online mode, it can be accessed and downloaded anytime by the test-takers. Once the NEET result is declared, candidates will have to download the NEET scorecard by logging in with their registration credentials and take multiple printouts. They are also advised to save the NEET scorecard PDF softcopy in their computer systems or mobile phones for easy access. After checking the scores, percentile and rank of NEET, candidates must preserve the NEET scorecard PDF properly till the admission or the counselling rounds are over. This is one of the most crucial documents which is verified by the counselling authorities. 

 

There is a chance that NTA might lower the NEET cutoff for this year. As the difficulty level of the NEET 2025 exam was higher than last year and the number of test takers is likely to be lower, the NEET 2025 cutoff is expected to be lower than last year. NTA determines the NEET cut off based on the factors such as difficulty level of the exam, total number of test-takers, total number of seats, candidate category and programme.

The official NEET 2025 cutoff will be released by NTA along with the NEET 2025 result, which will be released on or before June 14, 2025. The NEET 2025 cutoff or the qualifying score for each candidate category will be mentioned on the NEET 2025 scorecard. The NEET cutoff refers to the minimum score a candidate has to obtain to qualify for the NEET counselling process. The NEET cutoff 2025 is expected to decrease from that of last year as the difficulty level of the exam was higher and thenumber of test takers was lower. 

NEET 2024 cut off percentile for general category students is 50^th percentile. Based on this, the NEET cutoff score 2024 for the General category is 162. The NEET 2024 cutoff for the General category candidates of the Physically Handicapped (PH) category candidates is 45 percentile. The subsequent NEET cutoff marks for this category is 144. Although the NEET cutoff percentile for the General category has remained the same, the cutoff score increased from that of last year. This is due to factors such as easier difficulty level, increased number of test-takers and intake.

The marking scheme for NEET has been stated by the National Testing Agency (NTA). It is expected that the marking scheme will remain the same for the next year's NEET as well. Four marks is awarded for each correct answer and one mark is deducted for each wrong answer. The complete marking scheme is given in the table below.

Since the total number of questions in NEET question paper is 200, out of which 180 questions have to be attempted, the total marks of the exam is 720. 

A percentile refers to the comparison between the score of one candidate vis-a-vis the other test takers. It is the percentage of scores that a particular score surpassed. NTA has stated the formula to calculate the NEET percentile, which is given below:

100 multiplied by the Number of candidates with their raw score equal to/ less than the candidate divided by the Total number of candidates who appeared for NEET. 

As per the NEET 2023 result data, the highest percentile obtained was 99.9999019. 

To score maximum marks in a competitive exam like NEET you need to make sure following points:- Firstly, having the knowledge of all the concepts. Secondly, you've practiced a good number of questions in specific time so that you can manage to complete your exam within given time. Thirdly, attempt the paper strategically - avoid negative markings by attempting only those questions for which you know the answer - don't waste your time on questions you don't know - attempt short questions first and also the scoring subject should be solved first.

NEET score card is valid for admission to the current academic session only. NEET 2025 result cannot be carried forward for admission to the 2026-27 academic session. Hence, in case a candidate fails to qualify for NEET 2025 or unable to take admission in that academic year, then they have to appear for NEET next year and seek admission. Beyond a year, the NEET scorecard will just be another document or a record to prove the appearance in NEET.

NEET scorecard is an individual document which carries information regarding candidates' obtained scores, percentiles and ranks. On the other hand, merit list is a common document which consists of the list of test takers along with their scores and ranks. Both the documents are prepared by NTA the exam conducting body. The NEET scorecard is issued only to candidates who can download it by logging in through their registration credentials and nobody else can access it. NEET merit list, on the other hand, is released publicly and includes the All India Rank list of candidates along with their obtained scores, percentiles and state.

The NEET safe score for OBC category candidates can be anything between 400 to 600, or more. The total marks of NEET exam is 720. According to the NEET 2024 cutoff for OBC category is 127 to 161, which is the 40th percentile. While this is the qualifying score or marks as decided by NTA, in terms of admission, a score range of 400 to 600 is considered safe for admission to MBBS courses and for admission to BDS, BSc Nursing, BAMS, BUMS or BHMS courses, a NEET score of 300 or above would be good enough. 

NEET safe score for the reserved category candidates or the Scheduled Caste (SC) and Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories is likely to be in the range of 400 to 600, or above. Candidates aiming for an MBBS seat at the top medical colleges in India or AIIMS should score above 500 to be on the safer side. On the other hand, scoring in the range of 400 and 600 will also be fruitful if candidates plan to join MBBS score at the mid to top rung medical college, or if he or she would like to opt for BDS or BSc Nursing courses at a top instittue in India. In case a candidate scores below 400 in NEET, then he or she may need to wait till the third or fourth round of NEET counselling to get a seat allotment. 

A General category candidate of NEET lies at the highest competitive zone as not only is the qualifying cutoff the highest among the other categories, but the selection cutoff at the institutes as well. To ensure getting a seat at one of the top medical colleges in India, a safe NEET score for General category candidates would be 600 and above out of 720. While getting 650 or above would be an absolute safe score for admission to top medical colleges in India, scoring above 600 would also ensure a seat of choice. On the other hand, a NEET score above 500 would also be considered a good score for getting admission to a top ranked college.

A NEET score of 150 and above can be considered as a NEET safe score for PWD category candidates. 

If a candidate belongs to the General Category, he/she should aim for at least 700+, and in the case of a reserved category, a candidate should aim for at least 675+. This is with regard to marks. In case the candidate wishes to know the same percentile-wise, he/she must score above 99 percentile to secure admission to AIIMS Delhi. Until 2020, students with 650+ score were able to get admission to MBBS at AIIMS Delhi, but the competition has been rising every year.

After the declaration of the NEET result, candidates have to first check whether they have qualified for the exam or not, by comparing their obtained score with the qualifying or cutoff marks. In case they do, they will have to get prepared for the next round, which is the NEET counselling process. For this, they must keep the necessary documents, including the printout of the NEET scorecard ready. They should also keep checking the national and state-level counselling websites to avoid missing important notifications. In case they are unable to meet the NEET cutoff, they will have to explore other courses which conduct admission through NEET scores and plan their future course of action accordingly. In case they miss the cutoff by a few marks, they can consider repeating a year.

In general, the result of NEET is declared approximately after one-and-a-half months of conducting the exam. Based on the previous years' trends, it has been observed that the NEET exam is conducted in the first week of May and the result is declared in the second week of June. In the official notification released by NTA regarding the exam date announcement, the conducting body has stated that the NEET 2024 result will be declared in the second week of June. The exam is slated to be held on May 5. Hence, it can be stated that the NEET result is declared approximately after 1.5 months of the exam conduct. 

NTA releases the NEET result in two methods. The first one is the NEET scorecard, which candidates will have to download by logging in to the NEET website along with their registration credentials. On the other hand, NTA releases an official press release or document carrying all the information related to the NEET result such as the names of the top rankers upto 50, followed by the NEET result and testtakers statistics in terms of candidate category, states, exam languages, 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats, tie-breaking criteria and other information.

Candidates must preserve the hard and soft copy of the NEET scorecard till the admission or counselling process is concluded. 

 

For the year 2023, the minimum NEET scores needed were 720-137 for the general category and 136-107 for the OBC and SC/ST categories. It is not possible to enrol in most Indian universities directly through walk-in, including medical institutes. There must be a proper application procedure and requirements for eligibility. The application procedure usually entails filling out an online form, registering, adding supporting documentation, paying a fee, and submitting the form.

Candidates are shortlisted by universities based on their academic standing, admission exam results, and other pertinent criteria. The people who made the short list may additionally be contacted for interviews or counselling. The results of the entrance exam, academic standing, and, if relevant, the counselling or interview performance are taken into consideration for determining final admissions.

Yes, there can be more than one topper in NEET. Basically, any NEET taker, who has scored 720 or close to that, and has ranked between 1 and 10, are considered as NEET toppers. Since NEET is an objective-type multiple-choice question (MCQ) test, there is a possibility that more than one candidates can score full marks. In that case, the tie-breaking criterion will be applied to determine the All India Rank (AIR) of the toppers. In rare scenario, two NEET toppers can be given AIR 1. For instance, in NEET 2023, two candidates scored 720 and both of them secured AIR 1. On the other hand, the third candidate scored 716 out of 720 and was allotted AIR 3. 

Yes, AIIMS and JIPMER conduct admissions on the basis of NEET result or scores. After the implementation of the NMC ACT NEET is the sole entrance examination for admission to UG medical courses in India. Earlier, AIIMS and JIPMER used to conduct their own entrance exams which were scrapped in 2020. The admission to these institutes will be done through the counselling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) under the 15 per cent All India Quota (AIQ) seats.
