NEET PG 2021 application forms are now available on the official website of NBE. On February 23, 2021, NBE has released the notification regarding the release of application form and other dates. The last date to apply is March 15, 2021. The exam is scheduled to be held on April 18, 2021 and the result will be declared on May 31, 2021. For 2021 session, NBE has made some significant changes in the application, exam pattern and number of exam centres. The application fee has been hiked by almost 30 percent including GST which is a matter of concern for the aspirants this year. As per the trend, candidates are also complaining that the conducting body has increased the number of exam cities to 255 but they are still unable to opt for the nearest exam centre to them.
About NEET PG?
NEET PG (National Eligibility cum Entrance Test for Post-Graduation) is the most widely accepted entrance exam for admissions to various MD (Doctor of Medicine)/ MS (Master in Surgery) and PG Diploma courses across the country. The examination is conducted annually by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). The scores are also used for taking admissions into postgraduate MBBS DNB courses. The national entrance exam will now be conducted online in 255 cities across India. The exam is conducted for 10,821 MS seats, 19,953 MD seats, and 1,979 PG Diploma seats offered by various medical colleges in India. NEET PG 2021: What's New?
- NBE has increased the application cum entrance exam fee to Rs 5,015 (including GST) for general candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and PwD categories now have to pay Rs 3,835 (including GST). Last year, the number of exam centres were 165 and for 2021 session there are 255 centres across India. NBE has also reduced the total number of questions to 200 from 300. The entrance exam will now be now be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm.
- NEET PG 2021 will have only four tie breaking criteria instead of eight. For this session factors such as more number of correct responses, less number of negative responses, older candidate and higher aggregate marks (in percentage) will be taken into consideration.
- NBE on February 23, 2021 has released a notification regarding the release of the application form. In the notification the NBE has announced that it has started accepting NEET PG 2021 application forms from February 23, 2021 (3 PM onwards) and the candidates will be able to apply till March 15, 2021 (till 11:55 PM).
- On January 14, 2021, NEET PG 2021 exam date has been declared and is scheduled to be held on April 18, 2021. After the NBE postponed the exam earlier scheduled for January 10, 2021, in December, the candidates were continuously urging the conducting authority and Education Ministry to announce the exam date.
- There are several institutes in India which hold the stature of Institute of National Importance which includes the institutes such as AIIMS, PGIMER, SGPGIMS, Lucknow, JIPMER, NIMHANS, Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology are now excluded from this exam. A new entrance test named INI CET has been replaced with NEET PG for admissions to previously mentioned colleges.
- As far as the exam pattern is concerned, there will be no change in the exam pattern this year. The exam will be conducted online and will be of 3 hours from this session. The exam will be conducted in English language only. There will be 200 questions of 800 marks in total. All the questions will be based on the syllabus taught during MBBS.
NEET PG 2021 application process has started on February 23, 2021. Candiadtes can apply by March 15, 2021. Candidates who wish to apply for the PG level entrance exam will be able to apply for it online by registering on the official website of NBE. Earlier, the entrance exam was scheduled for January 10, however, the exam date was then postponed till further official notice by the NBE but on January 14, 2021 NBE has announced that the exam will be held on April 18, 2021. NBE will also release a few mock tests online in the first half of March. Only those candidates who complete their registrations successfully in the stipulated time will be able to enrol themselves for the mock tests.

NEET PG 2021 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates who wish to apply for the exam or who wish to participate in the counselling process must check the eligibility criteria before applying for it. NEET PG eligibility criteria have been summarised below:
- Aspirants must possess an MBBS degree/provisional Pass Certificate which is recognised as per the provisions of the Indian Medical Council Act 1956
- They should also possess a permanent/ provisional registration certificate of MBBS qualification issued by the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council
- They must have completed the duration of their internship on or before March 31, 2021
- Aspirants found ineligible at any stage will not be permitted to take the exam or appear for counselling (as applicable)
- The result or candidature of ineligible candidates will be cancelled
NEET PG 2021: Five major changes
On February 23, 2021, NBE has released the information brochure for the neational level entrance exam. The brochure contains vital information regarding the exam and its processes. There ae five significant changes mentioned in the brochure candidates should know:
- Hike in the application fee: From 2021, NBE has increased the application cum entrance exam fee from Rs. 3,750 to Rs 5,015 (including GST) for general candidates. Candidates belonging to SC/ST and PwD categories now have to pay Rs 3,835 (including GST) instead of Rs 2,750.
- Addition 90 new exam centres: NBE has added 90 new NEET PG 2021 exam centres at which the exam will be conducted. Last year the number of exam centres were 165 and for 2021 session there are 255 centres across India.
- Reduction in the number of questions and total marks obtained: There is a change in the exam pattern as well. NBE has announced to reduce total number of questions to 200 from 300. Hence, candidates will have 100 questions less in the question paper as compared to previous year. As the number of question are reduced the total marks will also be reduced. The question paper will now be of 800 marks reduced by 400 marks as compared to last year’s question paper. Last year the total marks were 1200.
- Changes in the exam timings: The entrance exam will now be now be conducted from 2 pm to 5 pm. Earlier, the exam used to be conducted from 3 pm to 7 pm.
- Deduction in the number of tie-breaking rules: The NBE has made a significant reduction in tie breaking rules as well. Earlier the number of factors to break a tie was eight and for this session there are only four factors. For 2021 session factors such as more number of correct responses, less number of negative responses, older candidate and higher aggregate marks (in percentage) will be taken into consideration.

Admission Process
Admission process via the exam starts with the release of the admission notification by NBE. Interested candidates then register themselves on the official website of NBE. After completing the registration process, candidates to fill the NEET PG application form. Those who submit the applications on time and also fulfil the eligibility requirement of the course will issued the admit card. Candidates have to appear for the examination taking the admit card. NBE usually announces the result within a fortnight. Candidates who qualify the examination become eligible for admissions through this PG level entrance exam for admission to master level programs in medicine and will be able to register themselves for the counselling process on the website of MCC.

NEET PG 2021 Application Form
NEET PG 2021 application form will be released online. The application process starts with registering on the official website of NBE. Candidates can then log in using their registration ID and password to fill the application form. To complete the application process, candidates will have to upload scanned copies of photograph and signature. They will also have to pay a non-refundable application fee to complete the application process.

NEET PG 2021 Admit Card
The admit card can be downloaded upon the conclusion of the registration process successfully. All the information should be carefully verified by the aspirants upon receiving their admit card to appear for the national level entrance exam. They must then print a copy of NEET PG admit card 2021 and affix a latest passport size photograph on it. Candidates must keep the admit card safe until the admission process is over. Specifications of the photograph are as under:
Photograph specification:
- A photograph of a minimum of 35 mm x 45 mm with at least 75 percent coverage of face & head of the candidate
- A caption with the name of the aspirant along with the date of taking photograph at the bottom of the photo
- The photograph should have been taken in a white /very light-coloured background
- The photograph needs to be printed on a high-quality paper with at least 600 dpi Resolutions
- The colours must possess the natural appearance and skin tone
- The photograph must not have kinks, scratches and stains
- Photograph with reflection or shadow on the face with red eyes should be avoided
NEET PG Syllabus
The syllabus will based on the curriculum taught during the MBBS. The syllabus will be aligned with the Regulations issued by the Medical Counsil of India (MCI). NEET PG syllabus is designed to prepare he question paper into three sections, section A (clinical), Section B (pre-clinical) and Section C (para-clinical) subjects. These three sections will contain questions from the topics such as Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry, Pathology, Pharmacology, Microbiology, Forensic medicine, and Social and Preventive medicine.

Exam Day Guidelines
- Candidates are advised to reach the exam centre at least an hour prior to the examination
- It is mandatory for all the candidates to go through the security procedures
- Electronics such as calculators, smartwatch, pagers, etc. are prohibited in the exam hall
- Candidates are advised not to carry bags, books, pens, pencil boxes, writing pad, etc. to the exam centre
- These items are banned inside the examination hall and the centre do not have provisions for their safe-keeping

NEET PG 2021 Result
The result will be uploaded online. The result of NEET PG 2021 will be released in a PDF format. Candidates who will clear the examination can download their scorecard/rank card by logging into their registered account on the official website of NBE. The result will be presented in the form of merit list and the merit list will be prepared on the basis of candidates performance in the entrance exam. Candiates are advised to save the copy of the result in hardcopy for reference purpose during the counselling process. The result will have roll number, candidate's name, section wise score and the qualifying status.
NEET PG 2021 Merit List
After the successful conclusion of the exam the result will be announced, NEET PG 2021 merit list will be released. The candidates have to visit the official website of NBE, nbe.edu.in to check their results. A merit list will be prepared by the NBE. On the basis of merit list seat allotment process will be done. Hiher the position in the merit list better the college candidate will be allotted. NBE will prepareseparate merit list on the basis of various criteria. Below are the four criteria upon which merit lists will be prepared:
- All India rank in the exam
- All India 50 percent quota rank
- All India 50 percent category rank
- State quota or private medical colleges/ AFMS Rank
NEET PG 2021 Counselling
Admissions to the MD/MS/DNB course will be finalised on the basis of the counselling. The body responsible for conducting NEET 2021 counselling is the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). The process of NEET PG 2021 counselling has been summarised below:
Online Registration for Counselling
Aspirants are required to register themselves on the official website of MCC and fill the application form to participate in the NEET PG 2021 counselling. The registration process for the first round will begin after the announcement of results. One must also note that only those candidates who have registered themselves on the official website of MCC will be able to participate in the NEET 2021 counselling. The application/registration process for the counselling involves the following steps:
- Creating a profile on the official website of MCC
- Completing the application form of NEET PG 2021 counselling
- Uploading the required documents
- Deposing the application fee for counselling (credit card/ debit card/ net banking)
- Choice filling and locking
- Print a copy of the duly filled application form

Q. How much do I have to pay to apply for NEET PG 2021?
A. NBE has increased the application fee for all categories. The fee for general category candidates is increased from Rs. 3,750 to Rs 5,015 (including GST). For SC/ST and PwD candidates’ fee has been increased from Rs 2,750 to Rs 3,835 (including GST).
Q. Will NEET PG 2021 be conducted twice a year?
A. As of this date, the exam will be conducted only once in a year. If there is any change in the format or frequency of the examination, it will be updated on this page.
Q. When will the registration for NEET PG 2021 begin?
A. Online registration for the exam has begun on February 23, 2021 from 3 pm onwards. The last date to apply is March 15, 2021 till 11:55 pm
Q. Is NEET PG being scrapped?
A. Yes, with the implementation of the NMC Act, the exam will be replaced by the National Exit Test. But it is expected to be implemented from the academic year 2021-22. Till then, the admission to MD/MS courses will continue to be via NEET PG.
Q. I want to take admission to DNB post-MBBS course. Which exam should I give?
A. DNB CET examination has been scrapped. Admission to the DNB post-MBBS courses will also be using the NEET PG 2021 scores.
Q. How many times can we appear for NEET PG?
A. There is no cap on the number of attempts for NEET PG.
Q. How many institutes will participate in NEET PG 2021?
A. The number of colleges/institutes participating in NEET PG 2021 is expected to be around 114. But the scores of NEET PG are widely accepted and thus the total number of colleges accepting the scores of NEET PG 2021 will differ.
Q. Is Aadhar card mandatory for candidates to apply for NEET PG 2021?
A. Yes. According to the official information brochure of NEET PG 2021, all the applicants must have a valid Aadhaar card.
Q. I have scored less than the qualifying percentile. Can I apply for NEET PG 2021 counselling?
A. No, only those candidates who have qualified NEET PG 2021 can apply for the counselling process. However, if the qualifying cut off for this year is reduced by MCC in future (during the mop-up round), you can then participate in the counselling process.
Q. Is it mandatory to download the score card for NEET PG 2021 to apply for the counselling?
A. Yes, candidates must keep the score card handy while applying for counselling.
Q. Will NEET PG counselling be conducted in offline mode? Do I have to report at the venue for counselling?
A. No, NEET PG 2021 counselling is conducted online. All formalities, up to the seat allotment, are conducted online. Candidates who have been allocated a seat need to report to the allocated institute for confirmation of the admission.
Q. My NEET PG 2021 result has been withheld. What does it mean?
A. NBE can hold back the results of the candidates who have not submitted the mandatory documents along with their applications. Such candidates will not be eligible to participate in the counselling process.
