The NEET SS 2024 counselling Round 2 seat allotment result was declared by MCC on June 11, 2025. The provisional seat allotment result was declared on June 10, 2025, and candidates could submit grievances by June 11, 2025, 10 AM. The institute reporting process was conducted from June 12 to June 19, 2025.

The NEET SS 2024 counselling seat allotment status has been announced for 5,867 candidates who participated in both rounds. As many as 496 candidates have been allotted seats in the second round of the NEET SS counselling 2024, whereas 821 candidates’ seats have been upgraded from Round 1.

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has announced the opening of the resignation window for NEET SS 2024 counselling participants who have been allotted INI SS seats. Candidates who have joined seats allotted in NEET SS counselling 2024 Round 1 or Round 2 can resign from the seats if they wish to accept the INI SS seats. The resignation facility will be provided from June 19, 2025, 11 AM to June 21, 2025, 5 PM. 

Candidates have to send their INI-SS RANK LETTER along with the Undertaking to MCC by sending email at superspeciality@gmail.com between June 18, 2025, 12 noon to June 21, 2025, 11 AM. Once resigned, they will not be eligible to participate in further rounds of NEET SS counselling 2024.

As per the NEET SS 2024 counselling Round 2 seat matrix, there are 6,660 seats. The number of seats in Virtual and Clear Vacancies is 4,223 and 1,832, respectively. 431 seats are added at the All India level, and 145 seats are added in Tamil Nadu. Additionally, 29 seats have been added to this round.

The majority of the candidates have been allotted a seat in the Medical Group, which is 2,057, followed by the Surgical Group (1,922). The lowest number of candidates has been allotted seats in the Psychiatry and Microbiology groups. The NEET SS 2024 exam dates were March 29 and March 30, 2025. The NEET SS 2024 result was declared on April 25, 2025, followed by the NEET SS counselling 2024 from the next month onwards. 

The NEET SS counselling process is conducted for DM, MCh and DNB SS seats across India, for the All India Quota (AIQ) seats. Only those candidates who would qualify for the exam by securing the NEET SS cutoff marks will be eligible to participate in the counselling process of NEET SS 2024. The total duration of NEET SS counselling 2024 is likely to range from three to four months, and the rounds may extend based on vacant seats. 

The NEET SS counselling process is held online. MCC allocates seats based on choice declared, seat availability and other factors. A separate PDF is released for each round of counselling results. The counselling result PDF comprises details such as allotted institute, course, category, rank etc. Candidates allotted seats in NEET SS counselling have to download the allotment letter from the official website and report physically to the allotted institutes. Q:   What is the total duration of the NEET SS counselling?
A: 

The total duration of the NEET SS 2024 counselling will range for around three months. The NEET SS counselling process for 2024 started on May 13, 2025, and the last date of the entire process is July 7, 2025. There will be three rounds of counselling. The total duration for each round ranges for around 15 days. Last year, NEET SS counselling was scheduled from November 2023 to February 2024. While originally the counselling process for NEET SS was scheduled to be conducted till January 2024, for two rounds, later, an additional round was conducted owing to the revision of the NEET SS cutoff. 

Q:   How many rounds are conducted for NEET SS counselling process?
A: 

There are approximately three to four rounds of counselling for the NEET SS exam. Last year, there were originally two rounds of NEET SS counselling and later, an additional round was announced since the NEET SS cutoff was revised. This year also, it can be expected that there will be three rounds of NEET SS counselling. Followed by this, there will be additional rounds, in case there is a change in the cutoff or seat matrix, the number of NEET SS counselling rounds will increase. 

Q:   What is the mode of the NEET SS counselling?

The NEET SS counselling process is conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) primarily in online mode. All the steps of the counselling process, including the registration, release of seat matrix, choice filling and locking, and release of the seat allotment result. Only the last and final round, which is the institute reporting, has to be done in offline mode. Herein candidates who have been allotted seats have to visit the institutes for document verification and complete the admission process by paying the requisite fee amount.

To participate in the counselling of NEET SS 2024, candidates must qualify for the examination. Only those who scored more than or equal to the qualifying NEET SS cutoff 2024, which was released by NBE along with the result, are eligible to participate in the counselling process.

Q:   Who will be eligible to register for the NEET SS counselling Round 2?

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has stated the following eligibility criteria for participating in the NEET SS 2024 counselling Round 2. 

  • Registered candidates who were not allotted seat in Round 1
  • Candidates who have reported/joined at allotted institute during the joining period of round-1 of allotment and submitted willingness for participating in second round up-gradation as 'Yes'. 
  • Candidates who have not reported at the allotted institute during Round-1 and taken exit with forfeiture option. Such candidates are eligible for participation in Round-2 of the counselling by making fresh payment (registration and security deposit). 

 

Q:   Who are eligible for not participating in the NEET SS counselling Round 2?
A: 

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has laid down the following criteria, which will bar candidates from participating in the NEET SS Counselling Round 2:

  • Candidates who did not report at the allotted institute after seat allotment in Round-1 and did not register again for Round-2. 
  • Candidates who have reported in Round 1 of NEET SS counselling and not opted for upgradation. 
Q:   What is the NEET SS counselling eligibility criteria?
A: 

In order to participate in the NEET SS counselling, candidates will have to appear and qualify for the exam by securing the NEET SS cutoff marks, which will be announced by NBE along with the result. Also, eligible candidates will have to register and fill the seat choices as per the seat matrix to be eligible for seat allocation. Last year, before the final round of NEET SS counselling, NBE had revised the eligibility criteria, wherein there was no cutoff marks applicable. Any candidate who had appeared for NEET SS exam and have completed the postgraduate medical course were eligible to participate in the NEET SS counselling special round. 

Q:   What are the documents required for NEET SS counselling?
A: 

While particpating in the NEET SS counselling process, candidates will have to get certain documents verified during the institute reporting process. The list of documents that must be produced during the final round of counselling are as follows:

  • NEET SS seat allotment letter
  • NEET SS Result/Scorecard
  • NEET SS Admit Card
  • MBBS Degree Certificate
  • MD/MS/DNB Degree Certificate
  • Permanent Registration Certificate for MBBS/MD/MS/DNB issued by NBE
  • Higher Secondary Certificate/Birth Certificate as proof of birth
  • A valid photo ID proof (PAN card/Driving License, Voter ID, Passport/Aadhaar Card)

Candidates must note that the above mentioned documents or certificates must be produced in their original form. Photocopies or printouts will not be accepted by the institute authorities. Also, for the documents such as NEET SS seat allotment letter, scorecard and admit card, which are issued online and candidates have to take printout, the print should be clear and the text and photographs must be legible. 

Q:   How many choices can I fill during the NEET SS counselling?
A: 

There is no limit on the number of choices that a candidate can fill during the counselling of NEET SS counselling. These choices submitted and locked should be in the order of preference as desired by the candidate. It must be noted choices have to be locked in the given deadline otherwise it gets automatically locked. Candidates are advised to fill choices carefully as it can't be modified once its locked, or the deadline is over. Seats will be allotted based on choice declared by candidates and other factors.

The NEET SS 2024 counselling process involves multiple steps. Each step is explained below.  

Registration and Application Process

Candidates who wish to participate in the counselling of NEET SS 2024 have to register themselves on the official website of MCC. As mentioned above, only those candidates who will qualify for the NEET SS 2024 will be able to register for the counselling process.

To complete the registration process for NEET SS 2024 counselling, candidates have to pay a non-refundable registration fee of INR 5,000 online. They have to transfer a security deposit of INR 2,00,000. The security deposit will be adjusted against the academic fees for those who will be allotted seats through the counselling of NEET SS 2024. The amount will be refunded to the candidates who will not get the seat allotted to them or those who will opt out of the counselling process by refusing the seats allotted to them.

Choice Filling and Locking

The next step is to fill the choices for courses/colleges on the official portal of MCC. Candidates are advised to check the fee structure and other details about the colleges they wish to select before submitting their choices. To fill their choices, candidates will have to log in to their registered accounts on the official website of MCC. They then need to select the courses/colleges they wish to apply for in decreasing order of preference. There is no limit to the number of choices one can fill in the preference form. Also, the choices filled can be modified any number of times before a candidate locks them.

Seat Allotment List

MCC will prepare the seat allotment list for various specialities based on the NEET SS 2024 merit list and the choices that were submitted online. The NEET SS seat allotment list for each speciality is prepared separately.

Accepting/Refusing the Seat Allotted

Candidates who have been allotted a seat through the NEET SS 2024 counselling have to choose from the following four options:

  • Accept the seat allotted and exit from the counselling process
  • Accept the seat allotted, but choose to participate in the next round
  • Refuse the seat allotted, but choose to participate in the next round
  • Refuse the seat allotted and exit from the counselling process

All candidates selected through the counselling of NEET SS 2024 had to fill in any of the above options by logging into their registered accounts. If a candidate fails to choose any of the above options, their seat will be forfeited and their admission will be cancelled.

Joining the Institute

Candidates who will accept the seat allotted to them have to report to the respective institute before the deadline. Candidates who will opt for up-gradation in the next round also have to report to the allotted institute, or else they will not be considered for the next round.

Eligibility for the second round of NEET SS 2024 counselling

  • Candidates who will qualify for NEET SS 2024, but could not register for the first round
  • Candidates who opted for up-gradation in the first round and have joined the allotted institute
  • Candidates who accepted the seats allotted to them in round one and chose to exit from the counselling process could also fill fresh applications for round two

Candidates who will not report to the allotted institute after choosing the up-gradation option will not be considered for the second round of NEET SS counselling 2024. Also, if a candidate chooses to exit the first round after accepting the seat, they will not be considered for the second round of NEET SS 2024 counselling unless they fill out fresh applications.

Q:   What will happen if I do not report to the institute allotted to me during the NEET SS counselling process?
A: 

In case a candidate does not report to the institute allotted to him or her during the NEET SS counselling process, then the security deposit paid by him or her will be forfeited. After that, they will be eligible to participate in the further rounds of counselling after re-registration and choice filling and locking. However, their registration fee will not be refunded. 

Q:   Is it necessary to register and fill choices for NEET SS counselling for each round?

Yes, it is important to register and fill choices for each round of the NEET SS counselling. The seat allotment result is computed based on the choices entered by the registered candidates. The seat allotment will be separate for each round and the seat matrix will also vary based on the vacancy.

It is mandatory to save choices during the NEET SS counselling. If candidate does not lock the choice submitted, the choices saved by him/her will be automatically locked on the last date of choice locking.
