JoSAA 2025 counselling second mock allotment will be out soon. As per the schedule, the second mock allotment will be out at 12:30 pm.

Pre-payment of the seat acceptance fee (SAF) means a candidate can pay the seat acceptance fee even before the seat is allotted to them. The pre-payment of the seat acceptance fee facility will end with the JoSAA registration and choice filling process that is on June 12.

The facility for pre-payment of SAF is provided because, after the seat allotment, there can be a huge rush on the website to pay the seat acceptance fee and due to which payments can fail multiple times. Also, only a 4-day window is provided between seat allotment and the payment of the seat acceptance fee deadline. Hence, candidates can use the facility of prepayment of SAF, to ensure their seat in advance.

The second mock allotment for JoSAA 2025, based on the choices filled in by candidates by June 10, 5 pm, will be out TODAY (June 11 at 12:30 pm).

The total number of undergraduate engineering seats available through JoSAA counselling is 62,853 across all IITs, NITs, IIITs, and CFTIs.

In case a Board does not provide information about the cut-off for the top 20 percentile, the candidate will have to produce a certificate from the respective Board stating that they fall within the top 20 percentile of successful candidates. If the candidate fails to do so, then the cut-off marks, in the respective categories, for the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will be used.

Candidates have to submit a medical certificate in the format prescribed in the JoSAA information brochure, Annexure 7 (page 100).

Candidates must download the format and fill it. Scan the same and upload if needed in the JoSAA Portal. Candidates must also keep a hard copy of the same with them.

There is no registration fee in JoSAA. Candidates do not need to pay any fee while registering for the JoSAA counselling.

Once the candidate is satisfied with their choice preference list, they need to lock the choices, using the "lock choices" option.

Candidates must complete their selection of choices for programs before the final deadline. If they don't confirm their choices, the most recent selections will be automatically locked once the deadline arrives. After choices are locked, candidates cannot change them.

If a candidate wants to make changes after locking their choices but before the deadline, they can request an unlock through the JoSAA online portal. They will receive a one-time password (OTP) on their registered mobile number and email to confirm the request. Once the request is approved, they can go back and edit their choices.

However, it's important to remember that after the choice filling deadline, candidates cannot change the order of their choices, add new programs, or remove any programs from their list.

The Joint Seat Allocation Authority, known as JoSAA, is part of the Ministry of Education and is responsible for helping students gain admission to top engineering colleges in India, such as IITs, NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs. After the JEE Mains examination, JoSAA organises the process for students to choose their preferred institutes.

There is also a body called the Central Seat Allocation Board (CSAB), which takes care of filling any leftover engineering seats at these colleges after JoSAA has done its allocations. JoSAA conducts a total of six rounds of counselling, while CSAB has only two rounds available. 

It's important to note that only students who have passed the JEE Mains and JEE Advanced exams are eligible to participate in JoSAA counselling. On the other hand, CSAB counselling is open only to students who have qualified for the JEE Mains.

Until June 8, 1,72,782 candidates have submitted a total of 1,93,71,842 choices in JoSAA 2025 counselling. These choices were considered while allotting seats in the JoSAA 2025 first mock allotment.

The JoSAA 2025 mock allotments are only for the reference of the candidates and not the final allotment. The final round 1 mock allotment will be out on June 12.

Candidates must wait for the second mock allotment result, which will be out on June 11. Only after analysing their allotment in the second mock allotment, candidates must refine their preference list and lock the choices. The last date to lock the choices is June 12.

The second mock allotment and the last round of mock allotment will be out on June 11, based on the choices saved by the candidates on June 10 by 5 pm.

• If you received an allotment that matches your first choice in the first or second JoSAA mock allotment, it’s best not to change the order of your choices. Stick with what you've selected.
• Before making any changes to your college choices, take a moment to look at last year's closing ranks for those colleges. This will help you make informed decisions.
• Don’t lock in your choices right away. It’s a good idea to wait until the last date to do so. Make sure to check the second mock allotment results before finalising your selections.
• If your rank is over 100,000, focus on selecting colleges that had a JoSAA closing rank above 100,000 in the last two years. Avoid choosing colleges that had a closing rank below 50,000 in previous years. This strategy will increase your chances of getting a good allotment.

• First, check if you received an allotment for your top choice. If you didn’t, try to figure out why. It might be helpful to look at the admission numbers from last year to see where you stand.
• After reviewing last year’s numbers, you can make better choices for the final JoSAA seat allotment rounds. When selecting institutes based on your rank in the JEE exams, it’s a good idea to pick the top five institutes.
• It's important to apply to several institutes rather than focusing on just one. So, make sure to list five colleges you like as your top choices.
• If you see in the JoSAA mock results that you got a college that was your second or third choice, consider changing your preferences and see what happens in the next round of mock results.
• If you have a specific region or area where you want to study, list your preferred college from that area as your first choice and nearby colleges as your next options. For example, if you want to go to NIT Andhra Pradesh, you might choose NIT Warangal second and NIT Trichy third. Choosing colleges based on location can make a big difference, but make sure to check the past few years’ JoSAA opening and closing ranks before making decisions.

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has introduced a BTech programme in Engineering Physics. Admission will be made via JEE Advanced 2025. Read more.

IIT Madras launched two undergraduate BTech programs starting in the 2025-26 academic year:

1. BTech in Computational Engineering and Mechanics (CEM)
2. BTech in Instrumentation and Biomedical Engineering (iBME)

A total of 54,378 candidates have qualified JEE Advanced 2025 exam. Out of the 2,50,236 who were declared qualified for JEE Advanced, 1,87,223 registered this year, and 1,80,422 appeared for both JEE Advanced 2025 paper 1 and paper 2 exams. 54,378 candidates will now compete against each other to grab 18,160 seats across 23 IITs.

This is not the definitive allotment; it serves merely as a trial allotment to help candidates gauge which institute and branch they may be assigned based on the choices they submitted in the JoSAA 2025 choice filling process.

1. Common rank list (CRL): It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN, GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL, OBCNCL-PwD, SC, SC-PwD, ST or ST-PwD.

2. GEN-EWS rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-EWS or GEN-EWS-PwD.
3. OBC-NCL rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL or OBC-NCL-PwD.
4. SC rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag SC or SCPwD.
5. ST rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag ST or STPwD.
6. CRL-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-PwD, GEN-EWS-PwD, OBC-NCL-PwD, SC-PwD, or ST-PwD.
7. GEN-EWS-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag GEN-EWS-PwD.
8. OBC-NCL-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag OBC-NCL-PwD.
9. SC-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag SCPwD.
10. ST-PwD rank list: It includes candidates who are assigned the tag ST-PwD.
