The final year marks of the qualifying examination of each subject, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry/Computer Science/Biotechnology/and Biology, of the students who have passed the subject, received from the respective Boards, shall be transformed out of 100. The marks of the three subjects shall be computed out of 300 after effecting standardisation in each subject.  The marks secured by a student in the qualifying examination from any Board will be standardised with respect to statistical parameters such as Global Mean and Global Standard Deviation.

To ensure that candidates are neither benefited nor disadvantaged due to the KEAM examinations in multiple sessions, the normalisation procedure is adopted.

Students reported a moderate difficulty with the Shift 1 exam for BPharm candidates. While Physics offered a balanced mix of conceptual and numerical problems, Chemistry was generally viewed as straightforward. Overall, the exam followed a standard and predictable format.

In 2025, to calculate the marks in KEAM for the preparation of KEAM rank lists, marks were considered in a 1:1:1 ratio across Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. However, a few days before the release of the KEAM rank list, this formula was changed by the introduction of a new ratio of 5:3:2, giving more weight to Mathematics, followed by Physics and Chemistry. The reason cited for this change was that the former method of standardisation gave undue advantage to the students of CBSE and other state boards.

This change was challenged in the Kerala High Court, and the court ordered the reordering of ranks based on the earlier 1:1:1 subject weightage.

This led to the cancellation of the KEAM engineering ranks list, and a revised rank list was released.

Candidates can use the KEAM 2026 answer keys and calculate their expected scores. To do so, there is a fixed method and formula to be applied. The same has been given below.
