IIT JAM 2024: Correction Window (Open), Mock Test, Exam Dates, Pattern, Syllabus & Latest Updates

Joint Admission Test for MSc (JAM) is an all-India level online entrance exam conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IITs) every year on a rotational basis on behalf of the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD), Government of India. IIT JAM is conducted to provide admission to candidates in MSc and other postgraduate courses offered at IITs and integrated PhD courses offered by the Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore. Several National Institutes of Technology (NITs) and Centrally Funded Technical Institutes (CFTIs) also accept JAM scores for MSc admissions.

The IIT JAM 2024 application process started on September 5, 2023. The complete process is online, right from the registration process till depositing the online fee for the examination. Candidates need to first visit the official website of the exam to complete the application process and pay the application fee in online mode.  IIT JAM 2024 Eligibility Criteria

IIT Guwahati had stated the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria which are given below:

• In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree. Earlier, there was a CGPA cutoff, but this year onwards, candidates need to just pass the qualifying degree.
• Candidates who had appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2024.
• For the admission process, candidates who would pass the IIT JAM 2024 exam will be eligible to apply for the admission process.

Age Limit: There is no age limit to appear for IIT JAM 2024 exam.

Prior to filling the IIT JAM 2024 application form, aspirants must ensure that they fulfil the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria.

• In order to fulfil the IIT JAM 2024 eligibility criteria, candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree. 
• Candidates who had appeared or will appear for their graduation exams in 2024 are also eligible to apply, provided they submit the proof by September 2024.
• For the admission process, candidates who would pass the IIT JAM 2024 exam will be eligible to apply for the admission process.

Candidates need to follow the below-mentioned steps as part of the IIT JAM selection process:

IIT JAM 2024 exam pattern remained the same as that of last year. It is a computer-based test of three hours duration conducted in two slots. The total number of questions is 60 and the total marks is 100. There are three types of questions, which are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), Multiple Select Questions (MSQs), and Numerical Answer Type (NAT). IIT Madras has released the syllabus for IIT JAM 2024 in the Information Brochure on the official website of IIT JAM 2024. Candidates can download PDFs of the IIT JAM syllabus for each subject from the official website of the exam. As compared to last year, the IIT JAM 2024 syllabus has remained the same. The syllabus refers to the topics covered under each subject that are tested in the exam. The IIT JAM syllabus is of BSc level for the respective subjects. IIT JAM is a highly competitive entrance exam and aspirants need to have an action plan in place to score well in this science entrance exam. The exam authorities will release the IIT JAM 2024 question papers a few days after the exam, along with the provisional answer keys. The IIT JAM question papers are released for each paper/subject in PDF format. Candidates can download the question paper of IIT JAM as per their preferred subject from the official website. Aspirants planning to take the test next year must solve the IIT JAM question papers of previous years to prepare well for the exam.

IIT JAM 2024 mock test will be released by IIT Madras on its official website in the month of January 2024. Candidates can find the link here - Link will be provided when Mock Test Link is generated. Candidates should take the mock test of IIT JAM 2024 for better preparation and get accustomed to the exam format and navigation scheme. To take the mock test, candidates need to follow the steps given below:

• Visit the official website of IIT JAM 2024
• Click on the tab indicating Mock Test
• Click on the subject
• Click on Sign in
• Read the instructions and click on 'Next'
• Click on the checkbox indicating the candidate has read and understood the instructions followed by clicking on the tab 'I am ready to begin'
• Take the mock test

The science entrance exam was conducted across 103 cities that are divided into eight zones. There may be more than one IIT JAM exam centre in one city. The exact IIT JAM exam centre details are mentioned on the admit cards issued to candidates. Last year, the exam authorities have announced two more exam cities, Port Blair and Haldwani. Candidates will have to select up to three exam cities in order of preference at the time of filling the IIT JAM application form. However, it may be noted that the first two exam cities should be from the same zone. Candidates may select the third exam city anywhere within India. The zone-wise list of IIT JAM exam centres 2024 was released by IIT Guwahati along with the exam notification. 

The admit card of IIT JAM 2024 will be releasing by IIT Madras on January 8, 2024. Only those candidates have successfully completed the application process by paying the application fee will be eligible to download the IIT JAM 2024 admit card. The steps to download the IIT JAM admit card are given below:

• Visit the official website of IIT JAM 2024
• Click on the tab indicating IIT JAM 2024 Admit Card download
• Log in by entering the registration credentials such as email address and password
• Enter the solution to the arithmetic expression
• Click on the agreement checkbox and enter virtual signature
• Download the IIT JAM 2024 admit card in PDF format

The admit card for IIT JAM 2024 is a mandatory document to be carried at the exam centre as well as during the counselling process. Hence, it must be preserved properly till the admission process is complete. The IIT JAM admit card will carry candidates' personal information, exam day venue, address, instructions and related details. 

IIT JAM 2024 Exam analysis by the students and experts will be provided after the successful conduct of the IIT JAM 2024 examination. As per now aspirants can through the Analysis of IIT JAM 2023 examination for reference and also to get an idea of the difficulty level of IIT JAM examination.

According to the test-takers who appeared for the forenoon slot of the exam, the difficulty level of IIT JAM 2023 was moderate to tough. The majority of the candidates had appeared for the Mathematics paper followed by the Chemistry paper. While the difficulty level of Mathematics was moderate to tough, the Chemistry and Geology subjects were of easy difficulty level. In Slot 2, majority of the students appeared for the Physics paper followed by Mathematical Statistics. There were few candidates for Economics and Biotechnology papers.

IIT JAM 2024 Answer Key will be released by IIT Madras on its official website after a week of successful conduct of IIT JAM 2024 examination. Candidates could download IIT JAM 2024 answer key by using their login credentials. In case of any discrepancy, candidates could submit challenges between the time issued by the authority by logging into the IIT JAM 2024 candidate portal.

Candidates will also be given the option to file objections against the provisional IIT JAM 2024 answer keys by paying a fee of INR 500 per question. Candidates' OMR sheets will be released along with the answer keys. With the help of the answer keys of IIT JAM 2024, candidates would be able to calculate their estimated scores in the exam and assume which college and branch they are likely to get admission to. The final answer keys was released along with the result. 

The result of IIT JAM 2024 ill be released on March 22, 2024. Candidates will able to download their scorecards by logging in using their enrolment ID or email ID along with the password. The scorecard will be released within a few days of declaring the result. The last date to download the IIT JAM scorecard is likely to be in July 2024. The IIT JAM result 2024 would declare candidates' scores as well as the All India Rank (AIR). Qualified candidates was be called for the final admission process or the counselling rounds.

Upon the declaration of the result, the exam authorities will release the list of toppers in the order of their AIR. The subject-wise topper names for IIT JAM 2022 are given in the table below. The names of IIT JAM 2023 toppers will be updated after the counselling process of the IIT JAM 2023 examination.

Selection of the candidates is done as per the merit secured in IIT JAM 2024. Four rounds of admissions are planned but the number of rounds of admission or counselling will increase in case seats remain vacant. IIT JAM 2024 counselling will be conducted as a Centralised Admission Process (CAP) for all the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs). 

IIT JAM 2024 final cutoff marks will be released on the official website, after the counselling rounds are over. Candidates will have to log into the JOAPS 2024 portal and check the IIT JAM qualifying cutoff of the individual subjects.  IIT JAM 2024 cutoff varies according to the subject and category that the candidate belongs to. Later, the authorities will also release the IIT JAM admission cutoff. Candidates who meet the cutoff will have higher chances of admission.
