Decent college with Bay area advantage.
Tips: Before coming to this college, I suggest that you connect with alumni or current students. Talk to people who work on campus, are involved in clubs, or even those who are not active in such areas. This will give you a well-rounded perspective about the college. If you are coming for a STEM degree, you will find that most of the students are Indian. It is easy to make friends and find a community that feels familiar. Overall, the college is okay if your primary goal is to earn a degree. While it provides a solid foundation, everything else—like finding internships, jobs, and building a career—will depend on your own efforts.
Likes (Value for money): The coursework at this college is somewhat aligned with industry standards, but it could be improved. The college is just average but its location in the Bay Area adds a lot of value by providing access to good networking and career opportunities.
Dislikes (Part time work): It's hard to get an on campus job especially if you don't live on campus. The process is slow and you have to be persistent to even have a chance. Even after all the effort opportunities are limited. Off campus options are better but they heavily depend on networking and the number of applications you send out. The job market is competitive, and it feels like a numbers game. If you manage to get a job, balancing it with the academics is manageable. Most on campus employers consider your class schedule before hiring you and since classes are usually in the evening it's easy to plan around them.

US student's life at a glance!
Tips: Students do feel the transition after coming here. There's totally different environment here in the US, students will undergo a cultural shift but here in California, it's good. Plenty of food options from India be it north Indian or south Indian you'll find a variety but It'll be a bit expensive so students mostly prefer to cook on their own. Before coming here at least learn the basics of cooking which will deal with your survival here. The course is good and detailed but don't expect that the university will do everything for you! You'll have to keep on constantly brushing up your skills while studying at the university. You'll find part time jobs here as well and will make ends meet. There is career advising centre but don't rely on it completely as it'll be the guiding light but you'll need to prove yourself at every step.

Decent college for people who radiate skills.
Tips: The university ranking doesn't matter. Your skills do and it's the same case everywhere you go. Competition has leveled up. Almost everyone is doing masters for easy money. College can only help you get some theoretical knowledge but in the end, practical knowledge is used in any company you need to earn it yourself.
Likes (Indian Food): I am from India, and here in California bay area we have plenty of options for Indian cuisine, everything, and anything. We get all kind of food from tandoori to chai,
naan and malai kofta around places like fremont or milpitas or San Francisco. It's expensive though but once in a while is okay
Dislikes (Post study jobs): There are plenty of options available to hunt for post study jobs but only if the student is very hardworking or smart working or knows how to get his way out of difficult situations alone. Everyone nowadays has kind of similar resume. So what makes you unique, that's all that matters.

A huge campus with every basic facility.
Tips: The university is stress free. It is decent for students opting in for scholarships, because I have seen students in undergraduate programmes studying here for free from India. Apply living on campus, it is a bit expensive but everything is included so it hardly makes any difference. You will make new friends from different countries around the World.
Likes (Value for money): Most affordable University in California. They also provide scholarships, so apply beforehand. Living on campus is a little bit expensive. Gas and groceries are expensive too. On the other hand, everything is included in tuition fees, i.e. gym, wellness center, library and high speed Wi-Fi.
Dislikes (Indian Food): There is no Indian grocery store near by. You have to take two buses and Bart. Food delivery is very expensive and taste of Indian food is not up to the mark. If you are living off campus in the city, then you will find more Indian options, although it is far from the University.

My home away from home.
Tips: Being an Indian, you're going to experience a couple of culture shocks but you'll adjust eventually. The college is better than most colleges there and there's also a diverse population. The college can be confusing and feel odd at first especially compared to our Indian colleges.
Likes (Student Life): The student life there is much more unrestricted than compared to the dorms in India. This allowed me to experience a lot more than I would have here in India. The safety is better there as well so its easier for a female to stay out till late. There's also less judgment from people around there.
Dislikes (Value for money): Compared to the student fee in India, the fee here can be high. It often takes multiple years to pay a loan off, if one decides to take one. The cost of activities otherwise and purchasing your own items can be expensive as well. While the quality of life is better here, it is also expensive especially with the growing crowd.

IU Bloomington provides a wide range of opportunities.
Tips: I would say come prepared with good projects in your resume, manage yourself and work hard. The initial days might be hard, but slowly it gets better. This university is really good for international students and I would recommend it to many, apart from Indian students. The data science courses here are some of the best in the USA, and there are plenty of opportunities.
Likes (Part time work): The on-campus part-time jobs are many in dining, and any student can easily get into one before coming here. I got mine before coming here; many students do. The assistantship opportunities are also many, and there are organisations like CNS, UITS, and the Housier Community Centre which pay well. A student can easily survive on the expenses in Bloomington with a part-time job. And maybe on the starting days might be hectic to manage things, but slowly we get used to those.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I do not wish you to permanently immigrate to the USA. I always wanted to get back to India. And this particular question cannot be answered in a university-specific way now. Indeed, I can say IUB is one of the best universities for international students, with plenty of opportunities giving OPT.

Academic integrity and hard work is the key here.
Tips: When you are moving to the U. S from India, there is a notable cultural shift, but it's manageable with time. The communication style here is more direct and informal. People love their personal space, it's a two-way street, you respect their personal space and they respect yours. When it comes to the educational system in the U. S, its emphasis more on critical thinking and your participation in the class matters a lot unlike the lecture-based and rot memorization methods followed in India. The assignments and projects require your own input and the grades are earned solely through your efforts and contribution. Plagiarism is highly offensive and unacceptable here, you will not get away with it, so it's advised to show academic integrity at all times. I'm highly satisfied with the university's academic quality, course offerings and the opportunities it provides.

Do not expect good placement.
Tips: Placements are not really good for the amount of fees paid. Amenities are good but still, the college fee is at a higher price point. Education quality is good. Most of the professors teach really well, but with the higher acceptance rate into the college, the quality of the student environment turns poor.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transportation is available for free to commute and takes less than 20 minutes. Most of the buses are crowded during the class timings, but other times they are mostly empty. Transportation is not available 24/7. Saturdays and Sundays they are only available between 10 to 6.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): College doesn't really help in securing jobs. Out of 100 companies that come to career fairs, only 2 to 3 are willing to take international students. Most opportunities are for experienced people rather than freshers. It would be a good idea to come here after having some experience.

Work hard, play hard, a place to enjoy, location not the best
Tips: Lots of work to do, all around from course to change in lifestyle, part time etc. Be mentally prepared. Courses are academically tough, so you'll have to start on the assignments early on and also give proper time to your job prep, college is not of much help for co-ops, even if you secure one yourself.

I have a positive opinion. Good university.
Tips: I would say it is a good college and you can definitely consider joining it. It is a university worth every penny. You can get a part-time job pretty easily. You can manage your monthly expenses. Also, the living cost is below average so overall a 4.5/5.
