Interactive, social and high supported university life as a student in London.
Tips: Joining City has been a smooth transition from high school. I have found the university to be quite supportive when it comes to the different facts of student life in London. I did not avail of any scholarships as I applied through Clearing. However, the City does have academic scholarships for post-final exams wherein a certain part of tuition is cut off if you are within 10% of the highest scores. I have enjoyed my journey at City and London both. It has been a life-changing experience which I can positively say would have a great impact on my life in times to come.

Satisfied - worth the money
Tips: There are a lot of Indian students, so no big cultural shift. There was one scholarship from the university of 2000 pounds which was provided to most of the international students. Very satisfied with the university - better than many higher rank universities at various levels. We get good support from the university.
Likes (Indian Food): It is very easy to get access to Indian vegetables and groceries within London. Though there are a lot of Indian restaurants, the cost of living in London is so high that it is not affordable to eat outside regularly. Cooking is a must - you may eat outside once or twice a week.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): At present, the job market is not that great in the UK where the demand is less while the competition is so high. Especially it is very difficult to get a job with sponsorship. India seems to thrive better. There is a 50% chance for me to settle permanently in this country.

Warwick is an excellent educational hub with lots of growth and learning.
Tips: The first part of the process is to get accepted as Warwick is one of the most competitive programs and the acceptance rate is below 20%. Getting scholarships are even more challenging and I was not eligible for one either. If you are someone who was absolutely no familiarity with the UK or its customs, there are pre enrollment courses and manuals which are pretty helpful. The campus is very student-friendly and welcoming to people from all over the world. The cost of living in general is very expensive. You can work part-time for up to 20 hours a week with your student visa, and there are a few places around campus that encourage student employment. Overall, students get a lot of support here and I am quite satisfied with the university, course and the country.

Very enriching and insightful experience.
Tips: Many things here exceeded my expectations. For instance, Indian food is surprisingly good, especially if you visit a few authentic food vendors and restaurants. Although the cost of living in general is very expensive. If you want to live comfortably, you will need to budget between 850 and 1500 pounds each month. The accommodations are also decent, though some of the more popular ones are hard to reserve. Lastly, as an undergraduate, you are allowed to work part-time. Overall, I have learnt a lot from my experiences and am pretty much satisfied with my course and the country.

Good professors and strong academics.
Tips: I have experienced a lot of change. Among a lot of colleges, Warwick manages to hold its status and reputation. You can work part time for up to 20 hours a week with your student visa, and there are a few places around campus that encourage student employment. The political science and international relations programs are pretty good, though they are underrated compared to the business school. Overall, it’s been a good experience so far, and I am pretty satisfied with my experiences.

Lots of culture and growth.
Tips: The campus is very student-friendly and welcoming to people from all over the world. The process of paperwork and documentation is slow and can be very frustrating at times. Also, ensure that your fee is paid in advance, as there are big fines for late payments, which are not worth the hassle. The culture is fantastic and I have learnt more than I initially expected. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Dislikes (Internships): Internships are limited, especially in my program. Moreover, they are given on a priority basis, so citizens of the UK have better chances of getting them. The campus does open a few slots, but they attract a lot of qualified candidates, making it trickier.

Tips: Warwick likes to do things with a unique approach. They believe in combining both old school learning as well as new methodology to ensure education. Lot of things to explore and adapt.
Tips: The faculty is great. They are knowledgeable and have spent a long time in the industry, so a lot of their teaching comes from first-hand experience. Try to be active in classes from the beginning, and if you can assist them, you might benefit in terms of networking opportunities and employment aspects. The courses are intense and the classes are competitive, but you learn so much, and the methodology of teaching here sets you up for life after in terms of employment. The business school professors are among the best, and the knowledge you gain will be impactful. On the downside, if you are hoping for employment in the UK and you would require sponsorship, a lot of companies might not be open to hiring you.

Vibrant and a diverse campus.
Tips: It's a good university where you get to meet people from diverse countries and backgrounds. There are plenty of opportunities available, whether it's part-time work, playing sports, or enjoying nearby restaurants. However, one downside is that most things within the university are quite expensive. On-campus student accommodation is significantly more expensive compared to off-campus options, although the entire campus is very well secured. The academic buildings are spread out, and it can take around 15-20 minutes to walk from the on-campus accommodation to some of them. As for the teaching, it depends on the faculty. Some are excellent, while others may not be as effective. If the purpose is to migrate from one country to another, I don't think the money spent on education would give you a good return on investment, but if you're looking to learn more about a specific field, then it could do wonders.
Likes (Indian Food): University of Warwick is situated in Coventry, which is a student hub and due to that, there are a lot of food options. Talking about indian food, there are a lot of south indian & north indian restaurants as well as grocery stores in case you feel like cooking at home. Everything is within walking distance or easily reachable through public transport.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Due to low visa sponsorship opportunities and continuous changes, it has become difficult for international students to find a job and settle. The majority of companies are finding it easier to hire someone with fewer skills and train them rather than sponsoring a visa due to the complications it involves. Moreover, during career fairs or networking sessions, there is no help from the university for international students, considering the visa implications.

A great choice for Indian students wanting to study math/econ/stats.
Tips: There is a really generous international undergraduate scholarship. I did not receive it, but it's worth applying for. I am very satisfied with the course and university so far since my course has really high customization and offers a large variety of modules. The university facilities are top-notch, and the campus is really big as well. The surrounding areas are not that lively, but Leamington, 30 minutes by bus, is really nice, and London and Birmingham are also really close by. It's a very academic yet fun environment.
Likes (Safety): Warwick in itself is a town. You are only surrounded by students, and I have not felt unsafe a single time at Warwick so far. Although Coventry is sometimes considered unsafe, I have been in the city at late hours multiple times and still felt completely fine, especially in a group.
Dislikes (Public transportation): There is no metro, only buses. However, Uber is really cheap, especially if you are splitting up with friends. Buses are sometimes delayed and a little pricey when you only have to travel 2–3 km since it’s a fixed price. However, if you live on campus, you have no use for public transportation daily.

A fulfilling academic and personal adventure.
Tips: I believe I have grown as a person, stepping outside my comfort zone multiple times. There was initially a cultural shift in terms of people, food, and lifestyle but nothing drastic or unimaginable. In terms of scholarships, there are limited options for B schools, and hence I wasn't successful in getting one. Overall, I am satisfied with my decision to attend this university--the faculty, my peers, and the curriculum growth opportunities are ample.
Likes (Public transportation): Public transport is generally affordable and highly convenient. The campus is well connected to the rest of the city, with buses available at frequent intervals and within walking distance from key points on campus, making the commute smooth and accessible.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): I rated 1 for permanent immigration/settlement options due to the lack of visa-sponsored job opportunities, which makes the process of securing long-term work and residence extremely challenging. While I would love the opportunity to settle permanently in the UK, the current circumstances make it quite difficult to achieve.

There's a diverse and great community of people.
Tips: Warwick is great. I highly recommend staying on campus, as you can save a lot on computing costs. You can learn how to write proper assignments, analyze critically, and cite references. Plagiarism is taken very seriously here, so avoid copying your peers' work. The Warwick community is very nice, so you’ll have access to everything you need. You'll be paying less than if you lived in London, and I'm very happy with the academic quality, alumni network, and brand name of the university. It is definitely an investment in my future. I am highly satisfied with my experiences.
Likes (Student Life): There's a great community of people here - friendly, diverse and always ready to do something fun or meaningful. A typical day includes lectures, grabbing coffee with friends or heading to the bars on campus or chilling at Curiousitea. The balance between work and fun is great - it's never all work and no play. Dirty Duck's karaoke nights on Wednesday are a bonus.
Dislikes (Internships): While the university offers career fair and online resources, there aren't any structured on-campus placements. The students are largely responsible for securing placements themselves. You have to be proactive in seeking them out, especially if you're looking for something competitive.

Tips: Before you apply, you should thoroughly research each course you are interested in. This can help you determine which ones actually line up with your skills and interests and try to find out the job market scenarios. Once you have a course you’re interested in, you should study the area the university is located in and find out as much as you can about it. Try to find accommodation as soon as possible. It is difficult to find on-campus accommodation and try to reach out to the faculty in case of any difficulties. They are very friendly, and welcoming and will help and guide you with your classes. Overall, I am highly satisfied with my experiences.

If you opt for a STEM based course you will be stretched and challenged hard so be prepared.
Tips: Everyone faces a hard time initially, dealing with a new environment, loneliness, making new connections, a new educational system, cooking, and managing stuff, but you'll grow, become resilient and adapt from your experiences. For a STEM course, it's next to impossible to get a scholarship, unless you can prove financial hardship. The academics are excellent and worth it, British culture is a bit weird and Brexit has destroyed the UK. The faculty in Warwick for math are some of the best mathematicians in the world. You will be taught cutting-edge stuff on par with Oxford and Cambridge. You basically attend lectures depending on your selected courses and problem-solving sessions undertaken by the PhD students of the department. Here you can ask doubts regarding assignments and get some additional practice. Most professors are approachable and when it comes to accessibility, that will of course depend on the style of your supervisors, but you will have plenty of time to figure out whose personality works for you. Mathematicians are from all around the world so pretty diverse.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): I completed my M.Sc. in Mathematics and subsequently applied to 1000+ positions. People from math and Physics backgrounds usually aim for quant roles, Data Science, AI/ML and software engineering positions. In my opinion, sponsorships are only provided by big firms, e. g. the Big 4, hedge funds, big tech etc. Companies that have enough money to spare and are looking for really specific skills and talent. Considering the economic recession of the UK coming out of 2023, most were not willing to hire international applicants.

Tips: The professors were friendly and helpful, and the assignments were practical in nature, which contributed to my overall development. Likes (Permanent Immigration): I never had any plans to settle down permanently, but I found the University of Warwick to be a safe place to live. The university campus life is great, with all the facilities you need at your fingertips. There are many community safety teams that make student life easy. Overall, it's a great place to study.
Dislikes (Post study jobs): The recession made jobs hard to come by. The recruitment cycle is too long, and the PSW makes it difficult to apply for and get a job. Also, experience level is a key criterion for getting a good job, and pay is only average. Even with all of these factors, it is still difficult to find a job.

Warwick- Expensive but Invaluable Experience
Tips: Students should know that there are a lot of cultural shifts and largely the way lifestyle and habits change after the move. Coming from a comfortable family back in India where I was used to home-cooked meals and chores being taken care of by a helper every day and having to do everything by myself was a huge shift. Additionally, being away from home is not the easiest thing, and you feel vulnerable at the start, but then with time, things get a lot better. I did not avail of any scholarships; my family financed my education. However, a lot of international students that I know here are on student loans, so that is an option to consider if one needs financial aid. Also, there are few scholarships and financial aid from the university and government, but one needs to plan for months since the deadline is pretty early. Warwick is one of the elitist universities around here, and being a part of Russell Group, it is quite expensive as well. However, its reputation, overall standing, and the environment make up for a lot of it.
Likes (Student Life): Warwick campus in particular has to be one of the prettiest premises I have come across along the long list of activities for students. The university organizes various events across the year, ranging from leisure, networking, outings, entertainment, health and lifestyle, etc. Typically, a Warwick student has a lot of academic baggage given the university's commitment to top-class studies, but then the student unit organizes several events throughout the term time and off-term time to keep them relaxed. And yes, there is every possible committee or student society that you can think of or be interested in, right from religion to sports, helping you connect to like-minded individuals.
Dislikes (Permanent Immigration): Permanent settlement in the UK at the moment is very difficult given the increasing visa and IHS cost. Also, the nation wants to limit immigration and is considering several anti-immigration favouring stances regarding the same. While there is PSW for international students after completing their studies, the fees for it have been on a consistent rise. Moreover, the PR status in the UK is a long road and with not a lot of companies in favour of sponsoring visas, it is looking worse day by day. While a lot of people would love to immigrate to the UK permanently without a link, the answers to this are pretty subjective. As much as I appreciate the clean roads, clean air, discipline, and diversity in the workspace, I am a very emotional being and miss the Indian food so I would choose to be back home in the long run.
