Q:   Is it hard to get into Aalto University?
A: 

The  Aalto University acceptance rate is around 18%- 20%  for international students. This means that only 18 to 20 of applicants are admitted annually out of the 100 applications received. It is also important to note that meeting minimum requirement criteria doesn’t guarantee admission during selection. However, applicants should give their best to present a strong application highlighting their academic achievements, experience and extracurricular activities to increase their chances of acceptance.

Q:   What are the requirements for Aalto University?
A: 

Below are the Aalto University application requirements for international students:

Undergraduate application requirements: 

  • Applicants need not pay any application fee and can directly apply to the university.

  • Applicants can obtain recommendations from teachers who have taught them core academic subjects such as English, Mathematics, Science, or social studies. Additionally, a recommendation from the school’s college counselor is required. However, if the school doesn't have a counsellor, the students can get a recommendation from a school administrator like a principal or an academic advisor.  This isn’t compulsory however, it would add value to the applicants.

  • The applicant should submit the school report and the official transcript, including all secondary school courses. 

  • Applicants must also submit additional English Langauge requirements.

Graduate application requirements:

  • Applicants must submit Academic transcripts.

  • The undergraduate degree must be equivalent to 180 ECTS credits or three years of full-time study if they are applying for Masters courses. 

  • The degree must give eligibility to apply for master’s degree studies at a university in the awarding country.

  • All the required application documents must be submitted by the deadline.

  • The awarding higher education institution has to be a recognised part of the official national education system of the country.

  • Applicants must also submit additional English Langauge requirements.

Q:   Is Aalto free for international students?
A: 

Yes, the application fee is free. Applicants all over the world can apply to the university without any application fee. However they must pay a certain amount of tuition fees once they get accepted by the university.The Aalto University also provides scholarships for international students studying in a bachelor’s or master’s program. Aalto University offers various scholarships to international students such as Aalto University scholarship.  Aalto University scholarships are merit-based and are granted on a competitive basis. Aalto University scholarships cover either 50 % (Category B) or 100 % (Category A) of the tuition fee. 

Q:   What are tips for applying to Aalto University?
A: 

Some of the tips for applying at Aalto is to have a strong academic profile, including competitive scores in the GMAT or GREs. As students must consider multiple factors in the student's profile. These factors include Leadership, Work experience, essays, LOR and interviews that the students give during their admission process. Students must have give a strong essays pursue the examiner.

The cost of living in Finland will vary from individual to individual. There aree various factors that affects cost of living such as lifestyle, location of your university, type of accommodation etc. The costs of living are higher in the capital region (Espoo, Helsinki and Vantaa) than elsewhere in the country. Thus, you should prepare to have about 800 euros per month to cover your living costs in Finland as Aalto student.
