Hello Alka,
Economics is a very unique subject. Even though it's a part of bouquet in humanities, sound mathematics helps a lot. Hence many students are desirous of taking maths as subject along with economics. It's better this way. But in job market it makes no difference.

Hello Tani,
Getting MBA from IIM's is totally different than PG in quantitative economics. I would strongly advise you to go full heartedlly for preparing for CAT. If I may add why not prepare for civil services examination? One year in life, even if you don't qualify, is nothing compared to the satisfaction you will always have of attempting something that you wanted. Go ahead for CAT.

Yes, of course. Many universities recruit people with such professional profile. The prestigious ones may ask for a PhD too but most of them would ask for Masters. You can even apply to universities mentioning that you're in your PhD course. They also refer such candidates. All the best.
