If you want to become an economist, you are advised to pursue MA in economics by appearing in entrance examination of prestigious universities such as DU, JNU, etc. You may have to plan your education up to Ph.D in economics. You can also evaluate preparing and appearing for Indian Economics Services Examination conducted by UPSC.

If you completed your B.Com with 50% or above then go for MBA in finance from reputed B-School after cracking any of the management entrance exam, which is enough market demand simultaneously your aspiration for going through economics will be supplemented.

Once educated in the field, you need not run for jobs rather both government and non-government organizations will be competing with one another to hire you. Organizations such as FICCI, Assocham, CII, PHDCCI hire economics experts, Indian Economic Services can be pursued to get placed at the highest echelons in commission, planning Board, Ministry of Economic Affairs, National Sample Survey and other departments that need specialists in economics.

There are many career opportunities for MA economics graduates. First of all, MA Economics graduates are eligible for all government jobs in central and state government where eligibility criteria is graduation degree. Some of the fields in which they can get employed are:
