Admission to Ph.D in psychology is entrance exam based. Some such exams held in the country are RAT (Research Aptitude Test) and JRF (Junior Research Fellowship). You need to have Master's degree with 50% aggregate marks in science. At least 5 years of teaching/ industry/ professional experience at a senior level. Admission to the course in India is done on the basis of the candidate's performance in a relevant written test and/or a round of personal Interview and/or performance in a relevant qualifying examination.

There are numerous jobs available in private, government and semi-government organizations. MA in Psychology Graduates is also recruited by companies as to carry out survey, research and make an evaluation and analysis. MA in Psychology graduates will also find jobs as Junior Psychologist in the community mental fitness departments. They can also find jobs with private companies involved in the research, data collection and psychoanalysis. Some can find jobs in rehabilitation centers as Assistants Psychologists.

Firstly, please note that if you do not pursue a Masters in Psychology, you would not be counted as a Psychologists / Counselor. Various post graduate and doctoral courses are available in India in the field of Psychology.
