To start your career in travel and tourism industry, you have to do some certificate or degree course like BBA in hospitality, travel and tourism. TO be eligible for that you need to have these qulaifications: Class 10+2 examination with at least 50% marks. You could also opt for a diploma,
For Diploma –Class 10th pass from a recognized board with minimum 40% marks. I would suggest you to go for Bachelors ddegree rather than diploma like BBA in hospitality travel and tourism. Hi Avita,
Individuals who hold a degree in travel and tourism management may work as travel agents, Travel clerks, Tour guides, Travel guides,Lodging managers, hospitality managers or travel coordinators.
The education and training requirements vary based on position and company. There are Universities and Colleges in the Public as well as private sector offering Courses in Tourism and Travel Management. Then there are Vocational Institutions imparting the Tourism Diploma and Post-Graduate Diploma.

Hi Swami,
The requirement of certificates/degree or qualification of any sort entirely depends on the profile & industry that you wish to pursue.
The basic eligibility in the tourism industry at large is at least a graduation in any field.
In some cases one needs to have some qualification to be able to fulfill one' job responsibilities and increase chances of selection such as:
-Reservation Agent-needs qualification with knowledge of software
-Chef- needs qualification with knowledge of various kitchen procedures & cooking method etc

Although the syllabus differs in colleges/Institutions and also depends on the specialization or the type of course that you pursue i.e degree, diploma, certificate.
