- Admission to the majority of university's programmes, including undergraduate engineering courses, is granted on the basis of the score obtained by the candidate in the higher secondary exam.
- Those seeking admission in postgraduate engineering courses will be judged as per their performance in GATE or TANCET.
- The university holds an entrance exam for giving admission to MPhil and MSc courses.
- Also, for enrolling in a PhD programme, a candidate will have to clear a written entrance test followed by a personal interview.

The Centre for University-Industry Collaboration (CUIC) in Anna University focuses on enhancing the employability of the students and providing them with excellent internships and placements.
