The admission procedure at IIIT Hyderabad is completely online and entrance-based for BTech. Admission to BTech at IIIT Hyderabad is done on the basis of a valid score in one among JEE Main/ UGEE/ Olympiad (KVPY) exams. Candidates seeking admission to M.Tech in Product Design and Management (PDM) are required to have a valid score in GATE/ CEED/ PGEE exam. For all other M.Tech specialisations available at International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad, qualifying PGEE is the minimum requirement. IIIT Hyderabad offers M.Tech across four specialisations, namely CSE, Computer Science & Information Security, Computer-Aided Structural Engineering and Product Design and Management.

Among the OBC AI category candidates, the cutoff rank for admission to BTech in ECE was 4398. Therefore, admission at rank 3000 is possible for OBC AI category as well.
The semester-wise fee for PhD is INR 75,000. Additionally, the deemed university provides financial assistance towards the tuition fees and stipend to all research students (PhD) of good standing. Normally, full financial assistance requires the student to put in 20 hours of work per week.
