Q:   How to take admission in BTech at NIT Rourkela?
A: 

Students with a valid JEE Main score and marks greater than or equal to the cutoff become eligible to apply. The applicants must also meet the minimum eligibility criteria, which is a Class 12 pass certificate with 75% aggregate (for general category students). Candidates with a rank can register for JoSAA counselling, following which the seat allotment is carried out.

Q:   What is the fee for BTech offered at NIT Rourkela?
A: 

As per the semester-wise tuition fee, the course fee for BTech is INR 5 lakh. However, students must note that the total fee to be paid at the time of admission will vary as it will include other charges as well. Moreover, the total tuition fee for BTech + M.Tech courses is INR 6.3 lakh.

The total course fee includes other components as well, including hostel fees, admission fee, caution money and institute emergency fund, which sums up to INR 2.05 lakh. However, this information is sourced from official website/ sanctioning body and is subject to change. 

Q:   What is the minimum percentage required for BTech at NIT Rourkela?
A: 

To get admission to BTech at NIT Rourkela, candidates must secure a minimum of 75% aggregate scores in the last qualfying exams of Class 12. Further, admission to B.Tech courses at National Institute of Technology, Rourkela is based on the JEE Main score. The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA based on which the seat allotment is carried out. The seat allotment is based on the cutoff released by NIT Rourkela and a candidate's preference for courses and colleges. Further, the remaining vacant seats are filled through CSAB counselling.

NIT Rourkela BTech application process is completely online. For admission to BTech, students need to apply via JEE Main and appear for the exam. After qualifying the JEE Main entrance exam, students need to register for the JoSAA Counselling and submit the final score on the institute's official website. The process of application for JEE Main consists of three steps, i.e., registration, form filling & document upload followed by payment of application fees. Q:   Does NIT Rourkela offer scholarships?
A: 

The students of NIT Rourkela can apply for scholarships offered by the National or State Government. PhD scholarship/ fellowship is also offered to students by the institute. Below mentioned are the details of some of the NIT Rourkela Scholarships:

  1. Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS): SC/ ST students are eligible for Post-Matric Scholarship (PMS) of the respective State Governments if they satisfy the norms set by the State Government.
  2. Top Class Scholarship: Among the admitted students in the first year top 12 SC students and top 5 ST students are eligible for the scholarship by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, GOI and the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, GOI provided their parental annual income is below INR 4.5 lakh.
  3. GATE Scholarship: Students who have taken admission through GATE are eligible for a scholarship of INR 8,000 per month.
  4. PhD scholarship: A PhD student with MTech/ MPharm degree and within the age limit is eligible for an Institute research fellowship for four years. The students will get INR 31,000 per month for the first two years and INR 35,000 per month for the next two years on satisfactory performance.

The best campus life and facilities.
Placements: In our course, more than 85% of students got placed. In the last year, the highest package is 21.5 LPA, the average is 10.55 LPA, the median is 10 LPA, and the minimum package is 4 LPA. The top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, JSW, Vedanta, etc. I think around 20% to 30% of students can get a paid internship in companies like Tata Steel, JSW, Vedanta, and BIS. Top roles in our course after completing the B.Tech, one can be assigned as an engineer for a specific sector to maintain and check the smooth flow of work, and one who has an MBA degree can get a managerial post.
Infrastructure: Talking about the department infrastructure, it is quite good. Every kind of lab equipment is there, and we have smart classrooms. Labs and library too, where every kind of book and Wi-Fi connectivity are present. The hostel contains every kind of basic facilities like fans, internet connection, washing machines, water cooler, stationary shop, canteens, etc. But the major problem is that there is no room here, you can not get the official single room before the final year. You have to share your room with another student, and the rooms are also small, so this is an issue, but overall it is good.
Faculty: Here, all teachers are well-educated from the top universities and have a deep knowledge of their subject. They are quite friendly and helpful in all aspects. The teaching quality is almost good, and it depends on every individual. Because some used PDF slides to teach, some teachers teach only using a blackboard and chalk. But overall, teaching quality is good. All the courses are highly connected with the industry. The pass percentage at our college in the semester exam is more than 95%. Talking about the difficult level, I would say it is average.
Other: I chose this course because of college, I only want to be in a good college rather than a good branch. The best things about our course are that in this course we have to study less compared to other courses, so we get extra time to work on another subject or whatever one does. I do not think there may be any improvement for this course. Connectivity is good, and students also get a fee waiver and scholarships. Every year, 4 fests are conducted at our college. A number of events are happening on special occasions throughout the year.

Excellent infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: Around 80% of students were placed in our course. The package offered in our course was not exactly like CSE branch but it's better at around 10 LPA. The highest package offered was 80 LPA. All students in our course got internship offers also.
Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available for our course were extremely excellent. Labs were well-equipped with the required equipment. A huge library was also available. A huge collection of sports accessories was also present and a big playground. Food in the mess was also very good.
Faculty: Teachers were helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable in their respective domains of education. They taught us very kindly and perfectly easy to understand language. Course curriculum was relevant. Students became ready for industry jobs. Semester examination was a little tough.

College is overrated be prefer only if you're in that region. Students are great, peers good minds.
Placements: I am not sure about the current year, but according to previous year data, 95%+ students in the electrical batch are placed. However, the LPA is not as impressive as in the IT sector or semiconductor companies. I would say the average is around 50 students who got 30 LPA and above, 10-11 students got 50 LPA and above, 1 student got 1.2 crores, and 3 students got 98 LPA last year.
Infrastructure: Hostels are great, and food is also available with both veg and non-veg options. There is a separate mess for pure veg and Jain people with only a veg menu. I eat there, and the food quality is great. The infrastructure for electrical engineering is average, not great for inventions or projects, but all that is required for the course is available.
Faculty: Not all faculty members are non-cooperative, and they mostly help their regional students. Other students are ones who have to suffer more. The curriculum is hectic, with 85% attendance required, and exams are easy. There is no relative marking, so you can decide accordingly.
Other: I did all that in the above reviews, but I would like to add something if the attendance criteria were lower, it would be better, and adding some more new-generation courses would be beneficial.

NIT with the all efforts and I did it.
Placements: In the NIT college mostly by the end of the 4 year, the placements will be guaranteed with a small job. Here, the highest package in the college will be 60 LPA. One person got the 1 crore package, he is the cofounder of the company now. Also recruiting companies like Infosys and Amazon like the companies are will be forwarded to give the jobs. Roles will be offered at the college in coding and python.
Infrastructure: The facilities and infrastructure are too good at the college. Also, the Wi-Fi problem is no issue. Here, the classrooms are super and with the trending of the benches. The washrooms are with the foreign model and also be the neatly of good infrastructure in the college. The canteen food is too good at the college with all the items with non-vegetarian and veg.
Faculty: Teachers are here too helpful in the college and also the qualified teachers are there with lots of degrees. Also with the foreign teaching of the knowledgeable and the students are an industry of the projects are being too good at the college. The industry of the projects is too good with all trips at the college.
Other: I chose mechanical engineering because of the enjoyment all happiness in the work I had been interested in. Also, the software and hardware will be there and nice. The events will be conducted and so nice but the limited events. The fests will be conducted for Telugu fest and it is Northern fest. There is no scholarship provided at the college.

Welcome to NIT Rourkela.
Placements: There were only 21 students in our batch (2020-2025). More than 50% of them got placements. The rest of the students want to go for higher studies. The highest amount of on-campus package was 11 LPA for this branch. Off-campus placements were also good here.
Infrastructure: The course infrastructure is not that good yet for integrated M.Sc. they don't have that much funding. Still, now this branch has no official building. It has only 2 classrooms and one seminar room. Hostels are good enough. Non-veg food is good but not veg one.
Faculty: Professors are good here (not all of them). The curriculum is not that much hectic or large. We have 4-5 working days and each day 3-4 hours of classes. Two exams don't have any gap days between them. Exam dates are always fixed. Exams are a little bit harder than class loads.

Absolutely dissatisfied with faculty ! And placements are average, you'll only get a degree !
Placements: Well, placements of this college was very average only few of the batchmates will secure placements and the minimum salary of 3lpa which is like 25k per month this is not expected from a top tier NIT ! For mechanical students here in NIT Rourkela the average is around 6-8 LPA and the highest goes around 15lpa in the core jobs. The highest package mentioned in website are somewhat fake because it? S the package of a mechanical student who attended no core placements and coming to internship out 115-120 students only 1-2 will be selected for internship!
Infrastructure: For first years, the infrastructure of the hostel was way too bad It? S not even painted for 4-5 years ! Very small rooms are allocated to 2 people the rooms actually made for only one however they gave to two people and the Wi-Fi they don? T provide any outer we have to buy they just give a LAN port and drinking water facility in hostel only one purifier in block which is no good And the infrastructure of college and academic area was good no complain ! Library is well-equipped no issues.
Faculty: There are mixed up reviews on faculty ! Some are good some are literally not eligible even for teaching in the first semester we ended up wafting YouTube to study that? S how bad the faculty was ! The semester exams were a little tough and majority of the class passes except 5-10% of people !
Other: Well, here in Rourkela many of the faculty are based! They show partiality to Odisha students, they give more marks to them ! The events are very good in the college by the way ! The campus is very close to city which helps us a lot.
