NIT Rourkela for M.Tech electronic and communication course intake in 2025-26.
Placements: Total 4 to 5 batches were available, and total 300 students got admission in this course. Many companies were interested and hiring the students. The highest package was 4 LPA to 10 LPA provided by the college.
Infrastructure: In this college, infrastructure quality was very good. The college canteen food was very good. High-quality food was provided at this college. Every year organised sports and games tournaments were held for every student but they charged Rs 100 for participating in events.
Faculty: College faculty members were also good. College teachers were very educated and very helpful to the students. This course had total 8 teachers and was allocated separately for the practical lecture. This course was very difficult to pass because there were 300 marks compulsory to clear the exam out of 800 marks, and there were all subjects marks.

B.Tech. in Computer Science and Engineering - Batch of 2027

2Placements2Infrastructure1Faculty3Crowd & Campus Life2Value for Money
Decent for self-learners, but needs a curriculum update and better campus life.
Placements: I'm from the computer science and engineering batch, and most of us got placed during the placement season. Around 85%-90% of students got placed. The highest package went up to 25 LPA, the lowest is around 3 LPA, and the average is somewhere close to 6 LPA-7 LPA. Some of the companies that come are Infosys, TCS, Wipro, Capgemini, and a few product-based companies like Adobe and Cisco. Internships are also offered to around 70% of students, mostly from the same companies that came for placements. The roles are usually software developer, full stack, QA, and a few have data-related roles too.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure for our course is decent. Classrooms have projectors, there's Wi-Fi in most academic blocks, and the labs are fine for practical work, though some systems are outdated. Hostels are manageable, not great, not the worst either. Rooms are a bit cramped, but okay if you're used to shared space. Mess food is very average, gets boring after a while. The canteen is better but a bit costly. Medical help is available on campus, but don't expect anything big. There are grounds and courts for sports, but maintenance isn't always consistent.
Faculty: Most of the faculty are qualified and know their subjects well, but teaching style varies a lot. Some are helpful and explain things properly, while others just stick to slides and theory. The course curriculum is kind of outdated in parts, but still covers the basics well. You have to do a lot of extra learning on your own if you want to be industry-ready. Semester exams aren't too hard if you attend classes and study before exams. The pass percentage is high, like 90% or more, and it is usually clear without much trouble.
Other: I'm from the CSE batch and chose this course because I liked coding and tech stuff. The basics are covered well, but you need to learn extra on your own. The curriculum feels a bit outdated and needs more practical stuff. Campus life is okay, with a few events and clubs here and there. The crowd is mixed, some helpful, some competitive. Connectivity is decent, nothing great around the campus, though. Scholarships exist but aren't well promoted. Overall, if you're self-driven, you can make the most out of it.

College is overrated be prefer only if you're in that region. Students are great, peers good minds.
Placements: I am not sure about the current year, but according to previous year data, 95%+ students in the electrical batch are placed. However, the LPA is not as impressive as in the IT sector or semiconductor companies. I would say the average is around 50 students who got 30 LPA and above, 10-11 students got 50 LPA and above, 1 student got 1.2 crores, and 3 students got 98 LPA last year.
Infrastructure: Hostels are great, and food is also available with both veg and non-veg options. There is a separate mess for pure veg and Jain people with only a veg menu. I eat there, and the food quality is great. The infrastructure for electrical engineering is average, not great for inventions or projects, but all that is required for the course is available.
Faculty: Not all faculty members are non-cooperative, and they mostly help their regional students. Other students are ones who have to suffer more. The curriculum is hectic, with 85% attendance required, and exams are easy. There is no relative marking, so you can decide accordingly.
Other: I did all that in the above reviews, but I would like to add something if the attendance criteria were lower, it would be better, and adding some more new-generation courses would be beneficial.

It is a nice college. Everything is really good here.
Placements: 95% of students get placements in our course. The average package is around 11.50 LPA, and the highest package is 30 LPA, which is offered by the IT companies. In the core section, the highest package offered ranges from 18-19 LPA by PSUs like HPCL, BEL, BPCL, IOCL, etc. Top recruiting companies are Tata Steel, MSIL, Vedanta, Bajaj, etc. The top roles offered are a management trainee or GET. In our batch, around 20 students received internships from companies like Reliance, Tata Steel, Bajaj, Exxon Mobile, TVS, etc. The rest students are in some research internships or industrial training. For internships, few companies visit the college, but for FTE roles, many companies visit the college.
Infrastructure: All labs and classrooms in our departments are air-conditioned, having unlimited and seamless Wi-Fi facilities. Lift is also being installed in our department. Regarding lecture venues, it is nice to have AC and non-AC rooms. There is mostly AC, and mostly, in all classes smartboard is being installed. The rest facilities are available here. Regarding the hostel, it is the same thing, but we get non-AC rooms. LAN is available. The internet speed is very fast. Mess is also fine, and it offers good quality food. Both veg and non-veg options are available. Medical facilities are also great. Regarding sports and games, we have many facilities like TT, football, cricket, and badminton. There is a new sports complex with all indoor facilities, a gym, and a squash court.
Faculty: Teachers are very qualified, mostly from IITs and foreign universities. The teaching quality is fine and understandable. The course curriculum is a bit tough but manageable. After the implementation of NEP, new courses like AI, electric vehicles have been introduced. Semester exams are a bit tough and tricky sometimes, but anyone who is sincere regarding studies can easily ace them by maintaining a good balance of academics and co-curricular activities. Mostly, almost everyone passes exams, and if someone fails in a case, they can attend the back paper and clear it.
Other: I have an interest in machines and dynamics. Here, there are many labs and clubs that work on robotics, electric vehicles, drones, and underwater robots, which I am fascinated by, so I chose it. Attendance of 85% sometimes becomes a huddle. The campus surroundings are nice and wonderful. There are many events here in a year, like 4-5 big events. The campus crowd is a bit high since we have 14 disciplines. There are scholarships available from the government and college alumni for needy, deprived, or financially weak students.

NIT Rourkela - A blend of excellence and experience.
Placements: There's a concise version about placements at NIT Rourkela. Placements at NIT Rourkela are impressive, especially in computer science, ECE, and electrical. Top companies like Microsoft, Google, Amazon, Tata Steel, and Deloitte recruit here. The average package ranges from 6 LPA to 10 LPA, while CSE students often get 15 LPA to 20 LPA or higher. Training and placement cell is active and supportive, and students with strong coding or project portfolios do exceptionally well.
Infrastructure: Hostel at NIT Rourkela is average at best. First-year students often face shared rooms with limited space. Mess food is repetitive and sometimes hygienic, and cleaning services can be irregular. Some hostels lack proper ventilation, and water issues occasionally rise in summers. While things are improving, maintenance and basic amenities could be much better for a premier institute. NIT Rourkela boasts world-class infrastructure, from modern academic blocks, high-tech labs, and an impressive central library to a stunning sports complex. Campus is lush and sprawling over 650 acres, with beautiful garden, lakes, and well-maintained buildings.
Faculty: Most professors at NIT Rourkela are well-qualified, with PhDs from IITs, NITs. They have strong subject knowledge and are actively involved in research and publishing papers. However, teaching quality can be mixed. Some professors are highly engaging, while others are more theory-oriented and less interactive. Their approachability varies. The curriculum is updated regularly to include industry-relevant subjects like AI, ML, data science, etc., especially in CSE and ECE. It has a good mixture of core subjects, labs, electives, and project work. There is room for interdisciplinary learning through open electives and minors. However, some students feel that self learning is key.
Other: Campus life at NIT Rourkela is lively and enriching. With students from all over India, the atmosphere is diverse and energetic. There are more than 50 active clubs covering technical, cultural, entrepreneurial, and literary interests. Major fests like Innovision and Nitrutsav bring the campus to life with events, competitions, and performances. The 650-acres green campus offers beautiful surroundings, sports facilities, and hangout spots. Hostel life, though basic, is socially active and filled with late-night discussions and activities. Whether you are into coding, drama, robotics, or music, there's always something happening to help you grow both personally and professionally.

Absolutely dissatisfied with faculty ! And placements are average, you'll only get a degree !
Placements: Well, placements of this college was very average only few of the batchmates will secure placements and the minimum salary of 3lpa which is like 25k per month this is not expected from a top tier NIT ! For mechanical students here in NIT Rourkela the average is around 6-8 LPA and the highest goes around 15lpa in the core jobs. The highest package mentioned in website are somewhat fake because it? S the package of a mechanical student who attended no core placements and coming to internship out 115-120 students only 1-2 will be selected for internship!
Infrastructure: For first years, the infrastructure of the hostel was way too bad It? S not even painted for 4-5 years ! Very small rooms are allocated to 2 people the rooms actually made for only one however they gave to two people and the Wi-Fi they don? T provide any outer we have to buy they just give a LAN port and drinking water facility in hostel only one purifier in block which is no good And the infrastructure of college and academic area was good no complain ! Library is well-equipped no issues.
Faculty: There are mixed up reviews on faculty ! Some are good some are literally not eligible even for teaching in the first semester we ended up wafting YouTube to study that? S how bad the faculty was ! The semester exams were a little tough and majority of the class passes except 5-10% of people !
Other: Well, here in Rourkela many of the faculty are based! They show partiality to Odisha students, they give more marks to them ! The events are very good in the college by the way ! The campus is very close to city which helps us a lot.
