NIT Trichy Course Admissions 2025: Dates, Application, Eligibility & Selection

No, NIT Trichy does not provide direct admission for BTech. NIT Trichy BTech admission is entrance-based. The institute accepts admission to the BTech course through a valid score of JEE Main. Every aspirant needs to qualify for the exam in order to get admission. Selected candidates further need to take part in JoSAA counselling as well. There is no other procedure for admission.

NIT Trichy does not conduct any in-house entrance test. It grant admission to the courses on the basis of merit in national-level examinations. The accepted entrance examinations are JEE Main,  GATE,  IIT JAM,  CAT, and NIMCET. Only the candidates with a valid score in the accepted exams as per the applied course are admitted.

NIT Trichy BTech course fee includes multiple components such as an annual examination fee, one-time admission fee, alumni fee, etc. Fees for the candidates belonging to reserved categories vary. NIT Trichy offers BTech courses in nine specialisations. BTech specialisations offered are Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Computer Science & Engineering, Metallurgical & Materials Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, and Instrumentation & Control Engineering. The total tuition fee for M.Tech at NIT Trichy ranges between INR 1.4 Lacs - INR 3.6 lakh. NIT Trichy admission process is entirely entrance-based. Candidates are required to qualify for national-level entrance exams such as JEE Main, IIT JAM, CAT, etc., for the respective courses. Apart from that, candidates must also have to appear for the additional selection rounds such as Personal Interview (PI) round for MBA. Candidates willing for admission to MSc at NIT Trichy must fulfil the minimum eligibility criteria for the course in the first place. Students who want to get admission to MSc at NIT Trichy must graduate with a minimum 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA (for SC/ ST/PwD, a minimum 55% aggregate or 6.0 CGPA is required) in the respective subjects. The relevant documents also have to be presented as a proof of eligibility for verification purposes.

The opening and closing rank depends on the category and quota of candidates. For the General category under All India, opening rank was 12165 and the closing rank was 16034. Th cut off are different when it comes to other categories or female candidates and even domicile of home state. In All India, opening and closing rank for female candidates was 19876 and 26484. Admission to BTech in Chemical Engineering in NIT Trichy - National Institute of Technology is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam JEE. For last year, the closing rank for BTech in Civil Engineering was 23230 which is very close to this range. This was for the General category under the All India quota. NIMCET 2025 application form was released online at nimcet.admissions.nic.in. Candidates were required to register by submitting their personal email-id and mobile number. An email will be sent to the personal email-id, wherein a web link was provided for the registration process. By clicking on the link, the applicant was directed to the webpage, where he/ she first set the password, choose the security question, and submit its answer. After this, the applicant was directed to the application page, where candidates had to fill the detailed application form, upload documents that included a photo, signature, category certificate (if applicable) and pay the application fees. Candidates need not send the printout of application form.
