 The University of Mumbai (MU) releases multiple merit lists every year followed by a counselling and document verification process to offer admission to students in MU-affiliated colleges. Mumbai University merit list are released for admission to more than 750 affiliated colleges in programmes such as FYBA, FYBSWA, FYBCom, FYBSc, FYBMS, FYBVoc, FYB Library Science and FYBPA. Mumbai University is a public state University located in Mumbai. The University is ranked 45 under the 'University' category by the NIRF 2022, the University of Mumbai, informally known as Mumbai University (MU) is one of the oldest state universities in India. Approved by the UGC and AIU, this 160-year old University bagged A+ Grade via NAAC. Internationally, it ranked 1001 - 1200 by the QS World University Rankings 2023 and 301 - 350 by the QS Asia Rankings 2023. MU has two campuses –Vidyanagri & Fort and three sub-campuses at Ratnagiri, Thale and Kalyan. A few university-affiliated colleges accept department-specific entrance tests or conduct GDPI for admission to MA. Yes, interested candidates can apply for distance learning courses through the Institute of Distance & Open Learning (IDOL), University of Mumbai. BBA course at Mumbai University lasts for three years. Each year is further divided into two semesters. Therefore, in total there are total six semesters in the course. To be eligible for pursuing BCom at Mumbai University, a candidate must have passed Class 12 with 45% aggregate. Hence a candidate scoring 50% in Class 12 is eligible to apply for BCom at the university. However, the BCom admissions at Mumbai University are subject to clearing a cut-off based on the merit in Class 12. Over the past few years, the cut-off for various specialisations of BCom offered at the university has been over 90%. The University of Mumbai conducts a Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the LL. M. programme. The CET is usually held in the month of June/July each year. Mumbai University application forms are generally out in the month of June on the official website. Candidates seeking admission to MCom at Mumbai University-affiliated colleges must visit the official website of MU, i.e., mu dot AC dot in, fill MU pre-enrolment form, fill out the application form of MU affiliated colleges and then wait for the release of MU merit lists which are published on the official website of the affiliated colleges. Students must note that the admission process for BMS and MBA courses at Mumbai University varies depending on the college and the specialisation. For BMS, applicants are required to have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with an aggregate of 45% or more. The admission is based on either merit or entrance exam scores, which depends on the college and the course they are applying for. As for MBA, applicants should possess a recognised Bachelor's degree with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. The admission is based on the scores obtained in the entrance exam, which can either be CAT CMAT XAT or MAH CET depending on the college and the course. On the other hand, for the integrated BMS-MBA course, candidates should have passed Class 12 from a recognised board with an aggregate of 50% or more. The admission is based on the Mumbai University Common Management Entrance Test MUCMET scores. Typically, the application process for these courses at Mumbai University involves filling up an online application form, submitting the necessary documents, and paying the application fee.

At Mumbai University, candidates have to meet the eligibility criteria for getting admission to the BSc programmes. To be eligible for pursuing BSc at Mumbai University, a candidate must have passed Class 12 with relevant subjects. The minimum aggregate required in Class 12 varies across the specialisations offered. For most specialisations, the minimum aggregate required in Class 12 is 35%. Hence, a candidate scoring 50% in Class 12 is eligible to apply for the BSc courses offered at the university. However, the BSc admissions at Mumbai University are subject to clearing a cut-off based on the merit in Class 12. The candidates are offered a seat only if they manage to clear the cut-off required for the particular specialisation. The University of Mumbai offers two-year MA and MA (Hons) programmes in multiple specialisations to students at the postgraduate level. Out of these, MA General has 27 specialisations under it, namely Hindi, History, Economics and Arabic, among others. Admission to a majority of MA specialisations is based on university-conducted/ college-specific entrance exams. For remaining MA specialisations and MA (Hons) programmes, admission is subject to merit scores obtained by the students in the last qualifying degree exams.
