AICTE has partnered with IG Drones to establish 50 Centres of Excellence in drone technology across India, aiming to foster innovation and advance the nation's capabilities in this growing sector.

AICTE Signs MoA with IG Drones for Launch of 50 Centres of Excellence in Drone Tech

The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has signed a strategic Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) with IG Drones, a prominent leader in drone manufacturing, services, and training. This collaboration will establish 50 Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in drone technology across AICTE-approved institutions nationwide. Participating institutions will receive state-of-the-art drone equipment, customized training modules, and ongoing technical support from IG Drones.

The MoA aims to train over 25,000 students annually across the 50 Centres of Excellence, providing them with industry-relevant skills in drone technology. With hands-on experience and exposure to real-world applications, students will be better equipped to thrive in competitive job markets and adapt to the rapidly evolving landscape driven by automation and innovation. Each Centre of Excellence will provide a robust range of experiential learning opportunities, including:

• Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC)
• Agriculture Drone Operator Certification
• Drone Technician Certification
• Advanced courses integrating AI, IoT, and AR/VR with drone technology
• Industry-specific modules tailored to diverse sectors

Highlighting the significance of the initiative, AICTE Chairman, Prof. T.G. Sitharam, said, “The establishment of these Centres of Excellence is a transformative step toward equipping our youth with cutting-edge skills in drone technology. We believe this collaboration will empower students to develop innovative, real-world solutions in areas such as agriculture, healthcare, disaster management, infrastructure, and more, thereby contributing to national development and improving quality of life.”
