Thapar University CGPA to Percentage Conversion

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology (TIET) is a UGC approved "Deemed to be University" located in Patiala. It was formerly known as Thapar University. What is Thapar University CGPA to Percentage Convertion Formula

Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology follows a simple conversion method: Percentage = CGPA × 10. This means that students can calculate their percentage by multiplying their CGPA by 10.

• CGPA 6.5 = 65%
• CGPA 7.0 = 70%
• CGPA 8.2 = 82%
• CGPA 8.8 = 88%
• CGPA 9.0 = 90%

For instance, if a student secures a CGPA of 8.4, their equivalent percentage will be: 8.4 × 10 = 84%

Thapar University Grading System 

Each letter grade indicates the level of performance in a course and has a grade point for purposes of calculating the CGPA, as given below: 

CGPA is the weighted average of all the grades awarded to a student since his/her entry into the Institute up to and including the latest semester and is computed as follows:

CGPA = (∑Ci Gi) / (∑Ci) 

Where:

• Ci- Number of credits assigned to ith course 
• Gi - grade point equivalent to the letter grade obtained by the student in the ith course.

Note: When a student repeats a course, the new grade will replace the earlier one in the calculation of the CGPA. 

Students must also note that, while calculating CGPA, I or X grades secured by the student shall not be taken into account.
